Plain
Levi Oct 2019
The sun comes up each morning
Every time the same
Yet it is so beautiful

Waves roar almost on repeat
Only subtle are the differences
Though it easily draws me in

Clouds drift in the sky at such a slow pace
Having little care for shape or form
But can entertain humans for generations

Why am I so worried?

Anyone Will Do
Levi Jul 2019
In despair
Anyone will do
Any touch could be love
Any whisper, your name
I think I’m beginning to understand relationships that grow real quick

Catch me a body
Give me a vessel
One that I can deposit in for future savings
My safety net
My last call
My first account for the day

My Choice
Levi Feb 2019
Tonight I realized
I wouldn’t hear your voice again

Your tongue will speak but
It’s heart shall be of another

There will be no more familiarity
No backdoors to my soul

All because of a choice
First of yours, now mine

I must choose
To avoid temptation
Keeping my door shut
And avoid standing by yours

There is more that I feel
But I won’t deposit more in you

Not you

Four Letter Struggle
Levi Jan 2019
Love, four letters. How many words can be four letters?

Four letters to lead woman pregnant.
Four letters short of proud, regretted.
Four letter adjective miracle to earth.
Four letters added to she, rebirth.

The numbers game got lame it's gain was vain and plain insane no stain on Name.

1, like the ultimate golf swing.
1, second beating the buzzer.
1, master stroke, Picasso.
1, up beat frown on Model.

Need my pain be so dramatic? Why oh soul, are you downcast within me. Rejoice and delight in salvation.
I can’t fully remember why I wrote this or what feeling drove it, but it’s here

11 comes 12, then 1 for a new rotation
a fresh start too close to previous victory
"This is what you're made for !
Only you predict the sun"
yet here is the heresy

the sun will only be measured
as a cup is filled to brim
and when each value is tested and weighed
small gold surpasses tin

so when a watch serves its one purpose
who determines its value?
Prisoners can serve one purpose
as leaders do the same

What makes them separate?
What dictates gain?
Condemnation without future reconciliation is too much for humans to bear. I think we’re designed for more than this

Levi Jan 2019
A picture paints a thousand words.
Why won’t you stop shouting?
I’m already close.
My stimulus can’t take it.
I wanted to finish each line rather than have them continued as part of the metaphor.

Sometimes in the pursuit of expression or content, I lose track of what is now. I’d much rather be able to accept it

Memory of my Heart
Levi Jan 2019
I could ascribe to you few things.
Few metaphors represent your wondrous making.

If I were to compare you to the roaring waves,
far reaching sourced from still ocean depths,
like the conviction of your voice,
I would miss your true joy at growing from fault.

If I were to compare you to the setting sun,
sharing the glory of its day on painted sky,
like the skill of your hand,
I would miss the grounded feet with which you walk

If I were to compare you to the intricacies of a watch,
it’s beautiful movement formed by delicate layers,
like the way you put one foot in front of the other,
I would miss your collaborative tick.

If I do not tell you how wonderful you are I will miss you. If I do not listen to your dream then it will sour the sleep. If I do not shout I will miss your echo.

I hope to soon rid any other miss* from this paper,
as our Ruler has more notches for us to mature.
Now I will be happy right here, sitting across from,
lying next to, on the other side of your screen.
I wrote this for my ex as a birthday card, yet forgot to delete the draft.

When I was going through my phone I found it again, so thought to chuck it up here

4 times the earth orbited the sun yet only once did you stop to see your shadow.

87,600 times it allowed you to second guess but you didn’t face it, just watched me sink right in.

Sinking sands of committed hands brought pressure but no diamonds. No light to revolve around.

Now I’m ticked off thinking this was a waste of my time. Not much of a leap, yeah?
I got dumped. This poem was the night of

Familiar
Levi Nov 2018
The simple exertion of air from lungs,
Caged deep within spirit.

I was familiar with a voice.

It’s presence drove the beat of my heart,
It’s restraints deeming me human,
Keeping me at level,
Brought low.

I used to be familiar with this voice.

I could shout,
I could sing,
I could even show restraint,

Now I’ll chose. I will be familiar with you
I recognize that for a long time I’ve been silent, and withdrawn from people I should be close with

You say before the moon last stood, that you understood. Take air down lungs to seek the life of one known.

Seen from a distance no greater than finger to thumb. No greater then eyes or ears.

I prefer the surface, with you.
I was hurt by someone close

This familiar close voice
Bruised what was only delicate

Allowed within
A host of my own space

My walls now up
To block or facilitate

Together we are
Different
It’s been a long time since I’ve written anything more than a single line, so starting test myself again.

This is an amended version of one written for a previous love
