With the first breath,
         a Cry!
     With the last breath,
            a Sigh.
         With all in between,
                  a Why?
We met over a cup of coffee with mutual friends,
Greeted each other with Hi
For me it was love at first sight,
Time passed and we became soulmates,
Then you found someone else,
We parted with goodbye
But, the wonderful moments we shared in between can never be forgotten.

Not tight rope walking
Not see-saw
Not teeter totter
Not bicycle
This is about calm, joy and eliminating hate
Another four letter word
Coming to terms rings a bell
Rather be sweet naturally
Change who or what does not work
Nurture what does
Keep it close to the heart
I wish you balance
Find it

The free box lies in the
Corner of the garage,
Where the crickets and the
Spiders and the raccoons live,
And the doll is slouched in the corner,
With more dirt on her than the garage floor.
Her hair is without color,
Her eyes without life,
As she stares up at the innocent
Garage salers who rarely give her a
Second glance.
She’s in the free box;
Why would anyone bother?
She’s been abused and neglected,
Despised and rejected,
And she’s finally done with it all.
She’s in the free box;
Why would anyone bother?
this was written at a time when I wasn't in such a good place; I am doing much better now and I'm hoping to write more :)

“Floor me with flawed beauty,” the
Poetry professor said.  “Give me a
Reason to read your poem, a deep
Craving to know the workings of
Your mind.
“Let me know the things you
Hate, the things you
Love, the things you couldn’t care
Less about.
Make me care.
“I see beauty in you, not
Perfect or pristine, but
Flawed,
Ugly, not-fit-for-the-
Human-eye-beauty.
“I’ve been teaching for 20 years; write me
Something I don’t already know.
“Floor me with
Your
Flawed beauty.”
I wrote this while I was listening to my professor talking; the skill I tried to use in this piece is called "enjambment", which is when you purposefully put in a line break so that the first word on the next line is the most important and carries the most meaning.  Let me know how it works, or if you notice a difference in the impact of the words :)

Still sobs over you.

What if I was immune to all negative emotion?
What if I couldn't feel pain,
Sorrow,
Fear,
Anger,
Jealousy,
Anxiety?
At first thought, this would be a good thing,
Something to celebrate, to revel in.
I couldn't be hurt,
Sad,
Scared,
Angry,
Envious,
Anxious.
But what about my positive experiences?
Would they mean nothing?
Without my bad experiences, would my
Good ones be forgotten, lost in the void?
How can I feel relief when I've never known pain?
How can I appreciate happiness when I've never known sorrow?
Without fear and anger, how can contentment and pleasure
Be measured?
How can jealousy and anxiety stack up when we have
Everything we need and have no cause for worry?
How can life be lived?
What new ideas, experiences can be gained without negativity?
How does the world thrive without a contrast of emotions?
Would feeling nothing or feeling everything be better,
Better for your mind, your body, your world?
Your soul?

With larkspur and flax,
The windflowers wilt but always grow back.

White lilies for hope
And forget-me-nots true,
an innocence captured in their ambiguous blue.
