To you, with...Affection
KDM Aug 2018
Love encompasses a vast array of emotions that humans can only hope to understand. But there’s this strange occurrence about you. You make me want to live, & to die; to be made into something new. Hope & understanding linger with every breath you take. In your wake, you leave beauty, & to me, a stranger who laughs at the idea of some greater force, trembles because for once I have glanced upon a being whom I wish to love.

Feelings I never knew existed have started to surface when you’re around. As if you were the tide washing truth over the shores; depositing little embers within my very soul. You have shown me the path of pain & lose, as well as the path that leads to happiness. I don’t believe it’s a coincidence that the latter path looks quite remarkably like you.

On days like today, tragedies strike, but you just smile ravishly. Sometimes it seems as if the world tries breaking you into tiny shards of yourself, but once again the world has failed. Maybe you were a concoction of the universe from the start. Resilient & strong, uncompromising & powerful, astounding & lovely. You hold the key to every desire that I have held locked away. With that sliver of metal, you’ve unlocked all that it means to exist; to live & to die.

I choose you. In a world that has turned love into a joke, I claim you as the person to walk alongside me. Through the life I have tried running from, I wish for you to be at my side. As a guide, as a partner, as the one in which I adore. You have given me a reason to become something more.

Not Alone
KDM Jan 2018
Space may give you a shelter,

& time may hold your tears.

Silence may carry your burdens,

& your conscience may listen to your fears.

Solitude may bring you temporary comfort,

& you may fight this war for years.

Your mind may try to deceive you,

& decisions may seem unclear.

If you find yourself doubting,

worrying for all that you hold near,

there is one thing you must promise to remember,

no matter who proves to be insincere.

Through the good times & the bad times,

we will never veer.

You will never truly be alone.

Not while we share the same biosphere.

Only One Season
KDM Jan 2018
What if we are like the branches of a tree, devoid of leaves as winter takes its first few victims? Will we ever grow past the frozen areas entagled in our viens? Nothing in our path ever seems to thaw out completely. This thing we dare call a we...suppose it's truly just a motion of hope, stuck in perpetual winter. There is no warmth, no means of escape. It's a challenge to foresee a future that isn't fixated on the "what ifs" of winter, when logical answers are only contained in Spring.

Spring was always my favorite season. Seemingly answering all of the unspoken questions that crowded my sanity. Maybe it was the soothing feel of dew mingling across the lawn that settled the nerves of my ever running imagination. Or the simple knowledge that Spring allowed growth after the deadliest of times. Spring was for cuddling up & gliding hands. There's something peculiar about a season of comfort & familiarity, trailing a season of doubt & bitter coldness. As if Spring was the solidarity force welding my pieces together once again. Unlike Winter, Spring allowed me to leave on a whim. Caressing my mind so that it could discern my desire to visit summer.

All the Same
KDM Dec 2017
Truth and deceit are kind of the same thing.
One tells you that you will never have what you want, yet the other tells you that you can’t live without it. Seventeen years, and she’s never understood her heart. Until this day, when all she wishes for is happiness. Truth is, she can’t have it. It no longer exists. But her heart is deceitful and tells her that she can find it. That one day, she’ll gain the happiness that she’s so badly longed for.
Happiness and pain are kind of the same thing.
One tells you that you will always have that someone to have and to hold. While the other tells you that this will all end in a horrid disaster. Pain is inevitable. He’s watched as she slowly withdrew. Hiding all her hopes and fear. Happiness and pain fight in his heart. Fighting 'til the death. But there will never be an end to this raging war because alongside all pain is happiness and with all happiness comes pain.
The heart and the mind are completely different.
Her heart said she wanted to be the one that made him laugh. That sweet, caring laugh that always seemed to remind her of the future she could have. Her heart tells her that she can have this one little sliver of love. Her mind disagrees and tells her of the lies that he must carry with him. It tells her of all the deceit that will wash over her like the darkness of a night sky.
His mind knows of the happiness that is sure to come with that sliver of love but his heart knows the truth. The happiness isn’t real. It’s all a game. The game of life and of love. “Love is ******,” is the only thing his heart is whispering. Quietly at first and then louder, and Louder, and LOUDER, the closer he gets to her.
Love and hate are the same thing. For without one, the other could never exist.

Beauty in Return
KDM Dec 2017
Narrowed eyes upon a deserted landscape, the tragedies long forgotten in the wake of silence.
Piece by piece, materials scattered about, remnants that her mind couldn't figure out.
Tiny strings clinging & slowly unwound, dragging the corpse across an invisible ground.
Following the path that her heart was being forced to take, surely these strings would easily break.
It's the end of the line, with roses crowding through the space.
Deep brown eyes watch over as the machine beats at a steady rate.
He had conquered her heart, caring for it tenderly, preventing it from being afraid.
She would  stay forever in the garden he built just for her, as he held her once broken heart, next to his own.
This garden was his only way he thought to repay her for the heart she finally gave away.

Age
Tik tok, tik tok
A clock counts down the days,
A mirror shows the wrinkles,
& the memories nearly fade.
Tik tok, tik tok
A pill shuts away the pain,
A doctor says a little longer,
& the grandkids keep away.
Tik tok, tik tok
A perfect life awaits,
A world forgetting ages,
& every worry dissipates.
Today marks a new age for me

His Elements
KDM Nov 2017
Rumor has it that he was derived from the forest. She was smart enough to acknowledge that rumors could hold some truth, but she also knew that he was part ocean. Nothing else elucidated why he felt like home & strangled goodbyes all at once.

If the Day Comes
KDM Nov 2017
If the day comes, where all I can say is, "I do"
I'll silently be praying that I'm standing in front of you.
& if 26 letters fail to provide the words I wish to say,
I hope you realize I will love you, each & everyday.
I'll give you the sun, & the moon, & spoil you with stars.
I'd promise you infinity because time will always be ours.
If the day comes, where all I can say is, "I do",
Please know without my words, that my heart only beats for you.

Definition of Love
KDM Nov 2017
It's a whisper in the winds, rioting to be heard with the simplicity of barely spoken words.
It's the way the sun lingers just a smidge longer in your presence, capturing your essense within the colors scattered before the moon.
It's the blinding glory of a 100 billion stars, twinkling a melody caught only by your ears & mind.
It's how even the most treacherous animals bow before you as you glide through the untraceable places on Earth.
It's the universes unspeakable secrets capturing your thoughts, night after night.
As difficult as it is to say, I can never love you the way that creation's love, loves you.
