Throw the window open
To bring cool air to a room
Which gathered heat
With all the thoughts
Bouncing off the closed walls.

Night. The sky, a bruised purple,
The clouds faint, infra-red.
The trees are cut-out silhouettes
Placed in the foreground of endlessness.
1.a.m. The night is still.

There is the hum of a plane in the distance,
Last train now long past earshot.
Thin blue curtains play at the breeze,
Tickle my shoulder
As I kneel at the ashtray,
The windowsill altar.

Ornaments reveal themselves
In the black gardens below.
The gnome with the broken tambourine
That kicks up in the current,
The wind chime on the Apple Tree;
The bell on the house cat’s neck.

Staring into space all night
But with this view
I do not have to strain my eyes.

Do not linger on the details
That are lost in the shadow.

Always made time for the moon.
The quiet one at parties,
Only came alive at night,
In the company of those who drink wine,
Swallow pills in the morning
To see the day through.

Room scarred with scorch marks,
Stains from drunken falls.
All those endless nights,
Dead bedsheets,
Waiting for the chemicals
To push my head underwater,
To find sleep.

Windowsill vigils,
Awake with the moon.
Kept myself alive
For these pockets of time
Where I do not need to talk.
Where I do not need to move.

"I am lost." She said,
"You can't be, you were like the guiding star." He argued.
"I was, but then you came along
Your questions, like a moon, raised tides in the calm seas of my soul,
but your presence
calmed those thrashing waves,
and in the stillness of the moment,
i got lost at the shore of your heart !!" She sighed.

heartache is a gift that breaks us wide open
and gently spills into the broken places
that we never knew were there

agony fills in those crevices
with a quiet reverence
and peaceful meditation

no matter how form appears
the content
is stillness

thoughts appear
illusory images dance before me
yet there is no duality

even in this seeming world of separation
i realize that i at last am home
and that i never left

Listen
to the voice of Love
in Silence

and
have Faith*
in what you hear.

Cool breeze gently sway
In the darkness.
Stillness whispers in the spirit of silence.

Love flows.
Rest your eyes.
Calm your mind.

Feel it.
When the ego finds its way into control,
Remember how a tree lives as it grows.
With beauty in its stillness, strength and soul,
We see how nature finds a way to over-throw
The concepts of the mind we blindly trust.
When searching for our inner peace we must
Remember just how we are nature too;
Just like the tree cannot forget to grow,
We can’t forget to breathe while life flows through.

Golden rays
green leaves
cool breeze
distant roars of an engine

with closed eyes
I am Peace.
Then the world is.

trust silence
with the world
trust stillness
with your self
Endow them both
your perfect faith
and begin to know
victory

how alike

are oak leaves trembling in a soft wind

and sea foam gliding up

a million grains of sand-glass

as if all of nature is sighing into my neck, saying

“hush”
I have so much work to do but God if five minutes outside in the sun under a good tree doesn't help me feel like myself again, and refreshed
