they burned my heart

until the ashes fell,
slumping over in defeat.

even as pain radiates
through my entire body,
the ashes rise into a phoenix,
and my heart takes flight again.

The princess of the sea, Beirut, triumphantly will rise above her sorrows and wounds. For over five thousand years, she has grown to be tough and resilient.  With the break of a new dawn, Beirut will be enchanted, and will be wearing her garment of beauty with a welcoming smile.

Why do people 'FALL' in love?

Love should't be something you fall in and fall out from

Or is it some sort of mistake in 'wordplay?'

If it is, isn't that a terrible one?
For words and words are the sublime "hope that will save us."

Shouldn't one 'RISE' in love?
Shouldn't you 'RISE' in love?

Seems to me a reasonable question to ask ourselves
Before going out there and trying to
'Fall' yet again
For someone or for OURSELVES.

We are not some 'season'
Defined by a mere rotation of curvature.
We are blood and brains...

Would it be so unpleasant if we tried and lived a little, lived in love, rising in it each day?

How do we
show you that
this is not
something we
want to be
fighting for
'til we pass
torches to
children who
just begin
fighting where
we left off?

The lilies bloom in these
Murky waters fuelled
By the pristine dreams
Of mine that brings
A smile on the eyes
Of the beholder that
Lurks in these waters.

Aye I fell from the stars
When I touched ground, it broke me
My folks gathered the pieces they can
It took me a while to piece it together

Then I went looking for the missing pieces,
In places so alien & people so insane.
I was reduced to ashes in the process
My friends gathered a handful of those ashes

And gave me courage
To rise up like a Phoenix.
