I long for the puppy love days. Being on the phone for hours days . Being open. Being free. Being me.

Now all I'm left with is swiping through the phone, left, left, left, maybe Right? Ding ding. It's a match. Now the story begins.. or does it?

With anticipation, we wrestle with who should text first? Should I wait? What if he doesn't text? Should I just give up? Ugh the frustration.

We begin texting. A little small talk here, a little small talk there. The conversation is dying. We can't be open. No not yet. It's too soon. Right? So we go back into our shells, swiping left and right until we hit the next match.

Long are the days of puppy love. Will I ever feel you again?
Looking into your smokey eyes
Beneath your Fluffy coat;
There is a beautiful heart beating,
To the rhythm of my own
Stabilizing my lost and erratic one.

Sometimes I do wonder,
Did I give you a reason to love me;
Your gaze always fill with trust
As you looked to me for every answer,
It is not my choice to back down now.

Because when I chose you,
Picked you up amidst the litter
Looked you in the eye and saw love;
You were my hope
The savior to my sanity.

Even though you do not do much,
You might not even know my name,
But you do know my heart,
So I made you my world
My Everything.

When over my heart
comes a dreary fog,
I know which doctor to go to;
my dog.
Her big brown eyes
are filled with nothing but love.
And I often think
that she was sent from above.
She knows when to kiss me,
she knows when to stop.
She knows when to play,
and she knows when not.
She would put her life in danger for me;
I love that puppy.
And I know she loves me.
To my beloved puppy, Mealla.

dear Archie,

you are the highlight of our lives.
you lovingly give out hugs and cuddles.
you snuggle with your blanket and look like an angel.
even when you run into the house from the yard with mud and dirt and grime clinging to your face and your tongue out in a smile.
your ears perfectly frame your face and you're adorable when you put one up.
you curiously tip your head to the side, even as I am writing this with you in my lap, to the sound of a clicking keyboard.
you're very much obsessed with blankets, although you have taken a newfound liking to your bed, labeled Archie.
you have quite the personality, let me tell you.
you, just today, refused to put your harness and leash on to let us take you on a walk.
you felt bad about what you did, so at dinner, you sat beside me and waited for me to tell you you were Good Boy. as predicted, you got what you wanted.
when I walk downstairs in the morning, you're either sleeping in the bed (with Banky, of course), or snuggling with Mama or Daddy.
when I leave for school, you say bye to me at the door.
when it's time for me to come home, you look out the window for me.
you even watch our soap operas. what dog can do that?
you are basically the perfect dog anyone could ever ask for.

everywhere I go
every single thing I do
she's right there with me
My Boston Terrier got knotted with my Chihuahua and on August 13th, I ended up with a little black pup that follows me everywhere I go. The only survivor out of 3 puppies. She even crawls up in the bed with me and stays right there until I get up, whether it be a regular 6 hours or a 12-hour depression sleep. She's always right there to greet me and make me smile.

She's such a little sweetheart

Soon as I saw you
I began to follow.
Without regard of home,
regardless of how many steps
it took to keep up.
I can't exactly describe what it was.
It just felt natural,
to follow you.
My legs moving twice as fast
This need to fall in love in the palm of your hand.
I felt a sense of need.
An overwhelming sense to bump into your leg until you noticed
This piece of me that felt something was missing.
To follow your every command, be accepted as I am.
For now I am enjoying this stroll.
This trot hoping you'll notice everything I see when I look at you.
What ever you ask of me
My life made whole in a glimpse.
I don't know exactly what it was that made me follow you,
But I am glad I did.
Until I am old and gray.
I will always follow you

no matter
how dizzy with love
the smallest creatures
become,

under the right
circumstances
the puppy
will always
attack
the lion,

and win.

The morning peaks through your pristine blinds
                                         already up, dressed and ready
The morning trespasses on my dusty mind
snooze, turn away and rest unsteady

Lunch break, out with your friends (and him)
stories you tell, is he listening? (he is)
lunch break, alone still and again
                                      ...............................reminiscing

Night has blanketed you with Argus' eyes
                            cuddled close, watching and kissing
night has blacked out with my stammering cries
in bed, alone, shivering and missing

You have been my closest friend from the day you were born
Back when you were just a tiny puppy
I promise to always protect and provide
As much love as you have given me
For my dog Mocha
Dev Aug 2018
Wet nose, four paws, and a wagging tail
follow right beside me on an uncharted trail.
We're exploring, but just what for?
National treasure or maybe folklore?
He doesn't know and neither do I.
On a day like this we don't need to ask why.
I stop for a break and he looks right at me.
"C'mon Dev. Let's make it snappy."
I can't disappoint those big brown eyes.
He never complains, frowns, or tells lies.
His only intention is to insure I'm happy.
So I stand back up and give him a patting.
We march on in search of who knows.
Through the highest highs and the lowest lows,
There is always an adventure just around the bend.
He's not only a puppy - he's my hairy best friend.
