Would any care
For a lost soul
A shattered heart
A scattered mind?
Would any dare?

Broken heart, fractured mind
What more is there to seek
What more is there to find
In this dark, desolate place?
What more can be seen
Within a worn visage,
Upon a weary face?

Eyes dim and dull
Framed carefully
Within a weighted skull

From its pale
Smooth surface
Cracked throughout the crown
Creep a peculiar flower
The sorts blossoms slowly
Bringing into full bloom
Petals of the soft hue
Forget Me Not
In its pale shade of blue

i have lived my whole life with the truth,
whether i remember it or not,
whether it is what they think or not,
whether it was real or not.
and i am still me.
i am still the same person.
i am still the same body
and i am still the same soul
he couldn't have stolen that from me, even if he did try

She stands in the distance,
The smell of a memory on her hands
Old blankets and old incense,
Old meals and tangerine melancholy and wick-fire soot,
The smell of sharp turpentine and paint
Reaching for me, like tentacles floating in the air.

She stands in the distance,
Sunbeams dripping from her fingers
She stands, with a question on her face
And I watch her, and I can only imagine
Time standing still, frozen; my soul immortalized in a single stroke of tantalizing yellow
I am made of paint and light.

I focus on the apple, the glint
the fleck of gold on green
glazed and blurred with lashed tears
even as his gaze runs off to
the middle distance soon to
come round for its next lap
and our eyes will meet
for the first time
again.

Worn photograph clutched
Tightly in the mind's eye
Faces faded, edges rough
Light preserved by hopes lie

Lush garden terrace
Woven through with thorns
Soft smile turned sharp grimace
Scarcely healed scars torn

Fairytale truths delude
Poison apple dreams
The really-real world
Seethes behind the seems

Dark mirrors reflection
Bends reality
Echoes of connection
Charm eternity

My hands are sand,
my eyes unperished stars
lingering in someone's forgotten memory.
I was trying to find my way back and here we are.

I first remembered years ago,
At twenty-something,
Speeding along in a 240Z
With my father.
Apropos of nothing,
I suddenly remembered it all,
The pain, fear, chases
And flights up stairs,
Only to have her catch me,
And feel the pummeling fists
Like a mad horse’s hooves,
Treading me down.
Back in the present,
My father was admiring trees
As we buzzed past them,
Unaware of the storm beside him.
She wore him down too
In a different way,
With constant denigration.
Over the years I watched
As he shrank way to
A painful, infested brain.
Unlike me, he had no defense,
Loving her as he still did.
It was as if he chose cancer
instead of anger or rebellion.
I had raged against her
And stood tall from childhood
To the now, when thunderheads
Rose from me above her.
Long ago, she had been
The random bolts from the blue,
Causing pain but not killing.
Now I am the storm,
Gathering over years,
Sweeping up heat and vapor
Sending and receiving energy.
The lightning bolts are truth
And their pain is admission,
Though never bringing remorse.
I am the storm warning her to run,
While knowing that she never will.

you shifted constantly
your form became that of a million bodies
and so, from everyone I saw,
I felt you staring back at me

we locked eyes

(I find your pupils in the eye of a storm)
(swirling in clouds of every colour)
(I remember you from before)
(I remember you in my dreams)
((I see you standing on a cliff))
((your silhouette drowning in an ocean of grey))
(((It’s raining)))
(((The Ocean is alive,)))
((((it’s speaking to you,))))
(((((but I can only hear the crashing,)))))
((((((crashing of the waves))))))

you closed your eyes
I looked away
but still I wonder...
if you’d drift away
too...
a glimpse into the fortress of your eyes
the black door at the centre of the crater ridden moon
whose wrought iron frame hid a mind so beautiful
I didn’t know you hid a mind so beautiful
I didn’t know...
it’s okay, mistakes happen

I stand upon a familiar shore,
of white sands and ocean waves,
looked upon so many years before,
you and I joined as true loves slaves.

Salten sea breeze fresh upon my face,
casting mist and haze like some dream,
where I see that other time in this place,
bound forever, or so it then did seem.

In this place I now stand so all alone.
as if drawn across rolling dark water,
to calmer days once warmly known,
before love like tide ebbed unto it's slaughter.

Days when loneliness was an unknown.
where sun was warm, and seas were still,
before any storm squall gales had blown,
or wave and wind wrought it's winters chill.

You alone were there to share my time,
I recall beauties smile upon your face,
beauty before tears performed their crime,
it was you that made this a perfect place.

But this sand now beneath my feet,
leads nowhere I would wish to go.
My memories now of loves defeat,
in a time my heart still longs to know.

Sand worn away and faded coastal dreams,
waves roll and ebb high upon the shore,
eroded memories by times cold extremes,
Never to know the beach as in those years before.
Even memories fade and become shadows of what they were.
The years erase thought the heart still knows that something was lost.

"we were running down the cold, winter sidewalks slick with black ice, yet we confidently graced down its path. we were laughing so hard the neighbors could hear us. i felt like a kid. yelling back and forth to make up for the distance between us as i sped ahead of you. our noses were red, our breath was engulfing the air;
we were smiling as wide as our mouths would allow, and then some. we were happy. we were excited. we were falling in love; the kind of love that makes you forget about the rest of the world, if only for the moment.
time has passed, and our bliss has vanished into anguish, but to this day i can still feel the cold breath escape from our lips as you caught up to wrap me in your arms with a kiss, a warmth that held me safely through the night."
