It only reveals itself after it's gone–
In the colors of rotting fruit, in the portrait of the dying.
In a photograph or a broken bauble.
It typically shows itself in the weary faces of the several-times-married.
It was in conversation with him that I suddenly realized–
He too was not oblivious to this fact.
Someone as aware as I am of what we're losing right now.
He in particular knows the feeling better than I, I'm sure of it,
Sometimes I can still see the outline of his youth,
A faded crease in time..
Youth, a mere thumbprint now.
It comes when he's caught in-between actions:
Looking up, sitting down, shifting his eyes, walking through doorways.
It shows in a certain thoughtful expression or when he stands up tall.
Youth is a neverending escapee, an eternal bandit.
For some it's best forgotten, for others it was the height of their life.
Youth, the time of eternal Spring.
And it's going, going, going, going–
And it's gone.

they spoke of a future
full of hopefuls and maybes
their voices are soft in awe
pitched and fast
with frequent pauses
inventing what could be
laughing like it can never happen
laughing like its nothing serious
laughing like they haven’t dreamt
every night of this
and that to admit is like admitting
a guilty little secret
I overheard a couple of friends talking. Even from where I was sitting, facing away from them, I could taste the bitter-sweetness in their words, hidden behind the bravado of humour.

i think about what happens if
someone really special
came into my life.
maybe not just someone special, but,
making friends as well.

we might have a small connection,
whether it would be similar
hobbies, tastes, interests,
whatever, same thing,
and we would be really comfortable
with each other.
we would just have a good time
talking to one another.

but there would always be a time
where i would get too comfortable.
a bit too personal.

i would keep bringing up my insecurities,
a bit of my past,
my bad habits,
and the fears that i have
that relate to the world we all live in.
i guess you can say that
turning just a regular conversation
to a therapy session
would be one of my bad habits.

but thinking about it,
i forget that everyone
has their own weaknesses,
and there's going to be a point in time
where we're going to
open up to them about it.
yes, i understand that some people
would like to hide certain problems to themselves
which i still have a hard time trying to do,
but at the end of the day,
we're going to show other people
our weakness at some point.

and once i tell the other person
my weaknesses, my demons,
i would always beat myself up
and punish myself
that i had lost another opportunity
of making a new friend.
but really, it's them to decide
whether they want to accept
my flaws or not.

you either stay friends with me
and accept me,
no matter what mistake i make,
or leave and go meet someone new.
that is all up to you.
your choice.
a life lesson that i can't please anybody and that i will always find people that can love me for me.

what happens when i no longer like your pink, sweet, version of me you’ve curated?
what would happen if i erased all colour completely?

no, i’m not talking about choosing blue over pink or yellow or green
“gender neutral” clothing isn’t any shade on the colour wheel

i’m talking about if i never associated the colour pink with femininity
and blue with masculinity

and yellow and green with “gender neutrality”

what if my life was just void of colour?

like if i were to say i didn’t feel like a girl nor a boy
nor the brief possibility of both

i just feel
like that grey space in between the most diluted shades on the colour wheel

would you still force me to call myself “daughter”?
Here after
the coffee breaks were going to be very lonely one's
We both will surely miss
those cherishing moments
till the last sip of coffee &
those silly conversations we had.

Here after
I will spray the memories of water
into the tiny ***
which consist of cute little
white and yellow flowers
that you've given to me  as a birthday gift
few months back

Here after
i won't hear
the irritating rock music
Ringtone
"Yeah it's My Life"

Hereafter
the late night work talks
the midnight coffee chats
the sleeping face of yours
won't be there.

Hereafter
everything will be
grow like
ever flowering memories
It's all about Yesterday.

Walking out in streets of Day-eh!
I try to keep them to my-self...
Never felt a price to pay-eh!
I try to keep them to my-self...
Always got to minimize.
I try to keep them to my-self...
I'm a smart guy in disguise...
I try to keep them to my-self...
No one seems to re-al-lize...
I try to keep them to my-self...
These are not just CON-VER-SATIONS!
I try to keep them to my-self...
Cause flowers wilt and flowers die.
I try to keep them to my-self...
Always got to minimize.
I try to keep them to my-self...
These are not just CON-VER-SATIONS!
I try to keep them to my-self...

soft spoken

Ideas, big and bold...
I try to keep them to my-self...
Ideas, big and bold...
I try to keep them to my-self...
Ideas, big and bold...
I try to keep them to my-self...

There you are again
What do you mean?!
You show up on the clock just when I need you
Like a best friend reassuring me everything will be okay
"A good omen", I say
As I hug the stranger I grew fond of over the last 48 hours
His smell reminds me of sunrises and smiles
shared over cigarettes bummed and alcohol not bought by us
I can still hear his voice reaching the top of that tenor note
as his fingers worked hard to reach the strings
on the guitar that wasn't his
Will I see you again?
He assures me of the positive answer I want to hear
Is it just what I want to hear?
1204 please bring me my luck
Because I don't want this one memory to only be that
