Give me a
yellow light
not knowing if I will make
it.

Yield?
Or subside to lying behind the thin white line?

Find me skidding through
the intersection,
just in the nick of time.

I like boys
like yellow lights.

Show me when caution is necessary.

Green
too open,
I recklessly tear through the intersection.

Red
condemns,
holding me up for way too long.

So give me a yellow light
and I promise I'll happily take that chance.

Why do they matter?
Why does this hurt you?
Don't be this, that or they.
They, they don't have the beauty of the world,
they don't have a voice that could calm the sea,
they don't have thoughts that could move mountains,
they don't have the eyes that shine like the moon,
they don't invoke peace with every step
or bring joy with every breath,
they don't have my heart like you do mine,
they don't make my world shine.
Don't be they,
please just be you...

A leap into darkness

Where dragons may reside

A step into the infinite

Is for you to decide

Float free on the air

Before you crash and burn

Chaff on the winds of fortune

Embers falling to the rocks below

Washed by cruel waves

Ashes returned to earth

Grey and trodden underfoot

The crunch of cold dead hopes

On weary shoes

But fortune favours those

Who dare to test their newly feathered wings

The bird of freedom only sings

For ones that risk a fall, to reach a greater height

Only those who take a chance in flight

Will ever know if they were right!

I knew I had a choice in that moment
To either say something or not
I knew it might be my only chance
That I may never have another shot
But I blew it
I couldn’t say a thing
I was afraid of your reaction
And of theirs and that sting
Of your look, hurt yet defiant
And unwilling to admit your part
I know I want to fix it
But don’t know where to start
I know that could have been the moment
I know that could have been key
But I couldn’t walk up to you
With everyone watching me
I’m left with a bad feeling
I guess that’s mine to keep
To dwell on in my own time
And keep me from my sleep
I hope that we can move on
In our separate ways
And remember those times
When we had better days

Waking to detachment
Dressed in fragments
Sorted feet of clay
A step away from heaven

Rather obtuse
A weighted word
Under the tongue
A syllable away from heaven

People that came before
Places that came after
Things we labelled ordinary
And missed a chance at heaven

congratulations. you made it through today.
that's something not everyone got a chance to say.
tomorrow, I hope you stop staying silent
just because the words keep getting lost along the way.
but for now, congratulations. you made it through another day.

When she goes out, it's like it's her last night alive.
When he goes out, he clears his mind by taking a midnight drive through the countryside.
After a long night alone in an empty bar, she decided to take a chance and get in her car.
He went out too but didn't make it very far. Only 10 miles.
10 miles from home, 2 lives were lost.
10 miles from home, she didn't think about the cost.
10 miles from home, 2 families will never be the same.
10 miles from home stands a memorial with a picture and their names
The name comes from a statistic that nearly 70 percent of car accidents happen within 10 miles from their home. Please be safe

Another new year
Another new chance to start clean
Another day
Another new chance to say
Gonna stand up for myself and my community
Wake up this doesn't have to be world war 3
Not gonna tell you what you want
Im gonna tell you what you need to hear
So listen up, I'm gonna say it loud and clear
In a world where people profit from exploiting what we fear,
We need to find the courage to say "no more. The buck stops here."
Do not pass go
Do not collect 200 dollars.
It's time to pay for your abuse of power
And I'm not even talking about trump
The whole system's wack
Time for us to take a breath,  take a step back

You will learn to live

with the dark angels, sometimes –

there's a golden one.

Bring on the rain.
Bring on the pain.
So I feel like I have a chance
That there's something
I could gain.
