We are lit,

We burn,
We flicker,
We die.
I'm afraid we all burn up, some slower than others.
Faith Cubitt Mar 22
love is supposed to be late night phone calls.
going out for dates anywhere, it didn't matter where as long as you were with them.
cuddling and movies.
kisses and laughter.
baking together when your bored.
smiled and stolen glances.
love is supposed to be soft and calm, like you were living in some sort of fairytale.
but that was not our love.
our love was yelling and screaming, just to make up for a few hours.
our love was burning skin because we couldn't keep our hands off each other, mad or happy.
our love was engraving our names into each other
our love was some sort of claim, we happily destroyed each other with passion.
our love was crying my eyes out at 2 in the morning because you left, you threatened and you'd come back.
our love was lies and truths and everything we didn't need to experience at such a young age.
you'd look at me and I'd melt in place.
our love was not soft or beautiful....
it was a wrecking ball covered in fire, destroying everything in it's path.... even us.
Our love could have burnt the whole world down, but ended up just burning us out....
love is like a wild fire.

not in the way that it spreads and is warm making you so enamoured in someone

no

love is like the stinging heat of the blaze surrounding my home

attacking

unforgiving

love is the flames of heated passion that devour and encapsulate entire families in destruction

love takes everything you hold dear

everyone

and tears them to shreds.

love is not kind to everyone.

love sometimes looks like hatred.
what disgust
and horror
that i should call you queer

and as if this
was an imperfection
yes a delusion
that plagues till this day
the youth of men

men who call you ***
men who call you *****
men who call you up for ***

and yet they cannot
face their tears
that side of fear
that keeps them strong

who keeps you there
why are you thinking of me?
your attraction for me
keeps you reeling
keeps you falling
keeps you trapped
in this place you call safe

i called you queer
but you called me ***

as if one is better than the other

it still remains

you are the one
burning in fear

Pain Is The Sky When It Crumbles And Crashes Burying Your Dreams Beneath Its Merciless Suffocating Weight,

Pain Is The Storm That Shreds Your Body Apart Each Raindrop A Blade Each Gust A Scream Of Despair,

Pain Is The Spell That Binds Your Soul In Chains Locking Your Light Within A Prison Of Endless Night,

Pain Is The Knife That Kisses Your Vena Cava Spilling Rivers Of Agony From A Wound That Never Heals,

Pain Is The Flood That Drowns Your Veins In Sorrow Surging Through Arteries With Waves Of Torment Untamed,

Pain Is The Poison That Clogs Your Throat A Venomous Chokehold Stealing The Last Breath Of Your Fading Hope,

Pain Is The Grinder That Severs Your Head Gears Of Suffering Crushing Every Whisper Of Sanity You Owned,

Pain Is Euphorbia Burning Your Eyes A Venomous Bloom That Blinds You With Tears Of Eternal Regret,

Pain Is Her Love False Yet Intoxicating Stealing Your Life While Leaving You Chained To A Grave Of Longing,

She Is Both The Pain And The Drug Of That Pain A Curse You Crave A Torment That Lasts Forever.

I burn pages,
And I burn my dreams.
The fire feels warmer,
Knowing they’re mine.

As ashes,
They look dull,
Hopeless and weak.
But only those who look close
Will find the shimmer of the stardust,
Full of ecstasy and valour.
All of this can't be for nothing
We've worked too hard
Fought too hard
For it to be over
I have lost too much
I no longer know
who
I
am
They can't win
I made an oath of blood
and
I
will
keep
it.
He will die tonight
but not by my hand
like I wanted

I will be your sacrifice
It's the only way
I'm sorry love, but I have to do this
I was always doomed to go
up
in
flames
anyway

The whole world is collapsing
These shards of truth I've clung to
love
pierce my soul
Bloodred wings and gilded mask
Will mark my
last
flight

I launch myself into the sky above
shining brighter than the sun
eclipse
and all you can see is my supernova
bright and brilliant
burning
burning
burning

behind the mask, my face is expressionless
but a single tear slides down my face
as I hear the love of my life
scream

I am burning
quickly
steadily
Pain blinding
excruciating
lovely

I wonder what will happen
when it's all
over

Was I a savior after all?
or just a foolish boy disguised as a
hero

My painted feathers burn like candlesticks
But I can still go higher!
Burning
up
crying out
But as I fall
like a meteor
into the sea
A part of me remembers
who
I
am

Fulfilled
Triumphant
Loved
I will transcend to Caelum
as a warrior
it is impossible to transform the emotions in this scene into words.

Based off the song Icarus by Gio Navas (absolutely incredible artist)
This is written by one of my paras, Necare. He's done poems before, but he has a different backstory in this one. Pretty bad poem, but seriously, check out the song!

You strike a matchstick
and name it hope—
watch the flame gnaw
its own tail, a hungry ouroboros.

Your hands tremble like cities
under siege.
The skyline cracks, a porcelain plate
held together by spider silk.

We are all archaeologists here,
digging through ash
for the bones of who we swore
we’d become.

Some nights, the moon is a pill
that won’t dissolve.
You swallow it anyway,
let its cold light pool in your ribs.

The world is a fever dream,
but listen—
even wildfires leave behind
soil thick with tomorrow.

So let your heart be a dandelion:
ugly, stubborn,
and impossibly
easy to love.
Inspiration: Combines existential urgency (a "burning world") with intimate resilience, blending natural imagery and mental health metaphors. The poem mirrors modern anxieties but leans into hope as an act of defiance.

Key Elements:

Ouroboros metaphor: The flame eating itself reflects cycles of destruction/rebirth and self-sabotage.

Urban decay vs. nature: "Cities under siege" and "porcelain plate" contrast with organic imagery (dandelions, wildfires).

Medicalization of coping: The moon as an undissolved pill critiques how society medicates existential pain.

Archaeology of self: Digging through "ash" to find lost versions of identity.

Dandelion symbolism: Represents overlooked strength and the beauty of persistence.

Structure: Free verse with short, punchy stanzas. Enjambment creates urgency, while the final quatrain offers a resolving, mantra-like closure.

I frolic among ruins, my own creation
I dance with enemies long dead
Their ghosts still whisper condemnation,
I laugh at words unsaid.

A crown of thorns, a throne of dust,
I rule the wreckage with delight.
Let them curse me if they must—
Their shattered bones are quite the sight.

I tip the scales, I rig the game,
I drink the venom, wear the blame.
What fun is virtue, meek and hollow,
When sin is sweeter to swallow?

I set the fire, I stoked the blaze,
Watched it burn with a gilded gaze.
Regret’s a game for fools to play—
I’d raze it all again today.

What joy it is to know damnation
And still refuse to change or stand,
To greet the flames with exultation,
A willing fate at my own hand.
I wanted to write a poem but couldn't think what to write about I found a prompt and it was a sinner's Eulogy. I don't particularly like religious themes. I made the character the poem is about/ in the prospective of, just an awful and terrible person. They know that they aren't a good person. They just don't care. They are unapologetic and they find happiness in being a bad person.

Also I have a lot of trouble saying the word Exultation. Its a new word for me so for those who don't know it means a feeling of triumph or rejoicing.

my heart burns for you
yet i am left alone
in the dark
as my heart becomes just embers of the roaring fire it once was
extinguished by the cold plunge
of the unrequited love
of your love for someone
who is not me...
i wanted to write a poem about love <3 hope people like it
