For the first time in a while,
I was able to look at myself
and think, I love you.

I flip through my notebook
of empty pages,
and I can imagine
the way they would
full of color
my color,
but I am afraid to ruin one page.
So I just flip through my notebook
of empty pages.
Composed 1.30.19.

But I do know someone who could color them perfectly.

Empire
My greatest struggle
Is my body's natural desire
To attain control
Because my spirit
Aches
For release
With a reckless abandon

I want nothing more
Than to be freed from all
Which binds me
To forget my
Inhibitions
And to experience
Indulgence

Paint me a picture
Of your skin
Does it bronze beneath the sun?
Or sizzle and blush
Like your cheeks
When you’re in love?
Is it soft to the touch
Like when your palms graze
The smooth surface of water?
Or rough around the edges
Like your favorite book
And its lovingly worn corners?
Does it melt in the heat
Like sweet syrupy treats
Dripping through your fingers?
Or does it welcome the winter
With wide open arms
As if greeting a lover?
Paint me a picture
Of your skin
Seeking shelter:
From the cold of loneliness,
From the rain of tears,
From the heat of temper,
From the frost of fear.

When you find that shelter -
Make it home.
When you look up
to the darkness alone,
when you feel wind
tickle your bones
and when it whips frost
into your eyelashes,
when the wintry sun
makes ground glitter
with its nascent rays,
when you look at with love
each sculpted flake,
when a smile spreads
on your cold lips,
may you remember me.

Mothsome
Sun watches how I lie,
But moon knows why.
We know why we lie.
