I wake up on your side of the bed
cold, without you to bring sunlight
to dandelion bones, shaken by the
violent winds
and dimmed stars that sew our
eyes shut, together and then apart
like children on swing sets
on a warm summer night.

blow these dandelion bones far
apart and into the sky
till I’m void of anything but
battered skin and galaxy bruises
till I’m nothing but
everything.
Here lies ahead our road to freedom*
Cracked deep beneath our blistered toes
Seeped full with red and black ink
that had once painted the shades of propaganda.
Our boots, soulless and worn like hearts of lead
leaked blood-stained fear and red-raw dread.

The path ahead of stone and ice stretched on
for decades... or was it days?
Time was the beat of marching men.

Through the thick yellow fog, we spluttered, cursed blind,
and choked on the calls of fallen heroes whose
cries grew distant with every staggered step.

Beneath the ghostly glare of shattered street lights, we trudged
on and on.
Until our ankles, raw and bruised
buckled beneath our weights;
Down onto the ice to sooth sore limbs
and stifle the scorn
that droned on the wind.

We will not surrender. This day
we are men with visions of glory that glow beyond golden gates
and wait for us in old age. But not today.

Today we make history;
So that one day when I sit my granddaughter on my knee
I can tell her why she, her grandpa and her country are free.
This is dedicated to my grandpa, a wing commander in the RAF during the second world war and a subsequent POW in Stalug Luft III. The poem relates to his march from Poland to Germany in 1945. I have never been more proud of anyone. We are forever indebted to those who fought for our freedom.
I am the ocean-
from an objective glance
one might say
I am predictable
my tides
my moods
are just a reaction
caused by
my moon of emotion

I inch closer to you
then pull away
the moon is my master
and I am but a puppet
to her

wade in my shallow waters
before venturing further

for your own safety
study me first
before exploring my depth

I have swallowed innocent people
whole
when they did not
know what to expect
their bodies will always rise
but I have drowned their souls
in my darkness

not something I am proud of
but they
should have known
what they were getting into

inside me there lives
demons disguised as sharks
lurking
until you show your
vulnerability
once they smell it
they will hunt you down
and abuse you
for their own advantage

but when you get to know
my secrets
my waters
my soul
I promise there is
beauty
in the underwater foliage
I can show you sights
you have never seen
as long
as you remember
when to pull up for air

just bring a life vest
and don't say
I never warned you
not
to swim too deep
Why can't we be kind
To those
That are not our kind
That does not have the same lifestyle as yours and mine
To those
That we do not share the same blood line
That have a total different storyline
To those
That are less fortunate and live on the poverty line
That does not own any property lines
To those
That does not have a personal credit line
That could care less about the interior design
To those
That does not always think of dollar signs
That do not drink the finest wines
To those
That does not wear the finest cloths
That live in the shadows
To those
That never impose
That live day to day and lives it slow
To those
Having to live a life
That they never chose

To those that are homeless
Why can't we be kind
!!
The piercing cold has frozen my hold.
As my breath mists in the wind, I lose my mind in my sin.
Why did I walk through the pitch black portal?
Why did I sell my innocence for a price that wasn't priceless?
I look into the mirror, my face is what I see.
Yet my eyes hold a darkness, how is this me?
So I turn in horror, step out for some air.
But from me escapes screams of unfiltered anguish 'til my voice is like a bear.
Why did I walk?
Why did I sell?
Let the cold take me.
It's warmer than my hell.

"Minsan ba naisip mo na,
Baka ikaw lang?"

Taon ang binilang
Tila walang kasagutan.
Aking tatapusin,
Sa isang walang hangganan.

"Ako'y mananatiling ako at
Ika'y mananatiling ikaw."
. . .
I would be a naive white lie
when all you need is dreaming,

and the secret words you mean
to say with silence.

I would be the kind of things
you've never done before

and all the things you
would never have enough of.

I would be the crossroad where
you’ll always have a choice,

and your better half coming along
on all your adventures.

I would be love running through
if you feel like dying inside,

and the guiding light if you get lost
in the darkest time.

I would be kissing your hands
if you have to clench your fists,
and a drum to play your most
true inner self beating,

I would be white sheets of paper
to collect your thoughts,

and a blank canvas ready
to embody your impulse.

I would be there if you're numb
to take you dancing in the rain,

and the weird and magic energy
before a summer storm.

I would be a mirror for the sunset
if it's behind your back,

and the hot dry wind of a sin
you won’t ever regret.

I would be a thrilling wave
you can’t wait to catch,

and the conquest of creative space
inside your noisy chaos.

I would be the thirst for life
you suddenly instilled into me,

both challenge and careless fun
and all you’d care to believe in.

I would be possibly amazing
as your wistful colorful voice,
and
the call of the ocean
with its most delightful breeze..

If just once I would be ever heard
would you care I give you u my all?

All is a nothing, thanks to you
happiness now I came to know.
when you get to know someone who inspires you so so much and you feel there's a special connection of spirits is something magic, your heart is so full of gratitude and unconditional never ending admiration.
You thought 'twas
something
- - -
Deemed 'twas
everything
- -
But you know it's
nothing.
-
I could be wrong but also right.
And that's life, we always go with nothing.
