I refuse to follow a trail where everyone else has
Crushed their individuality
firmly into the ground,
Silenced their hopes and dreams
so they no longer make a sound.

You do what you please,
but darling I'll blaze a trial so bright
it'll dull the suns light
And bring the trees to their knees.

There's a certain comfort to be found in sadness
That happiness cannot offer

Happiness asks so much of us
And the pressure wears away at the mind

While sadness never demands, never expects
Always there when joy fades
When peace disappoints
When faith breaks

It wraps us in cool arms
That chill to the bone
Until sweet numbness slides in

I'm still not sure which sets me free

You cannot expect something new to grow
If you nurture what is old.

The old and new cannot flourish together
And will both fade away.

Then you will have lost both.
New things won't grow if you're busy trying to keep old things alive. You have to choose between the two or they will both be gone and forever out of your reach.

One more step closer
                     is heartache
One step back would
                           be regret
I'll just stand here,
                    confused

I don't know what else to do...

        I can no longer
           breathe...
        I can no longer
                     move...

Just take a step towards
                      me
Then I'll gladly step towards
                *you

I have a fear of drowning
And darling, I am underwater
Tried to tread it
Couldn't keep my head up
Now I'm  f l o a t i n g
My thoughts are  f a d i n g
I feel my self spin
As I drift away from consciousness
And from sanity
I am  w e i g h t l e s s
Yet sinking
I want to wake up
But I'm not
d r e a m i n g
