Love Me Like Sand
Aimee Harris Mar 2015
I want you to love me like sand.
I want you to find me in your pockets
A week after you've been to the beach.
I want to fill your hourglass
And pour myself out
To count our time apart.
I want you to build castles
From my shattered pieces;
To build a temple
From this ruined frame.
I want you to make me hotter than I've ever been;
To touch me with pressure so hard
I turn to glass.

I want you.
I want you.
I want you.

Their Songs
Aimee Harris Jun 2015
Never fall for a musician
Because even once they're out of your life
Their songs will still get stuck in your head
And it will break you
Again

Darling, Beautiful, Lovely
Aimee Harris Nov 2014
This morning I realised
You aren't the type
To cry at your wedding.

This is the first step to forgetting
By pulling your faults out of thin air,
Taking a pin to my thoughts
And piercing holes in my fantasies
That explode into a thousand pieces
Showering me in tiny fragments
Of every name you've called me.

Darling

Beautiful

Lovely

But I catch all those shards
Cutting my fingers
Push them into my heart and my mind
And leave myself bleeding.

Voluntarily
Aimee Harris Jan 2015
I am a villain
I am the monster painted into fairytales
The darkness under your bed waiting to steal your happiness.
If you glance my way I'll turn you to stone
Keeping your eyes locked on me
Forever.
Because no-one really looks at me,
Truly studies me
Voluntarily.
I'll use the vines of my power to draw you in
Sharp thorns digging into your flesh
Keeping you near me.
Because no-one really approaches me,
Truly stays with me
Voluntarily.
I am a villain
I am the monster chained into fairytales
The sickening growl in your wardrobe that's taken your sleep.
Those that watch, wish to avert their eyes
Those that come close, pray they hadn't
Because I am the villain
And no-one loves a villain.

Your Eyes
Aimee Harris Mar 2015
I see galaxies in your eyes
But I fear they’re made up of stars
Other stars
More stars
More than just me.

Fire & Electricity
Aimee Harris Dec 2014
My pores open to your touch.
The feel of your fingers
Dancing over my skin
Ignites fire under my soul,
Creates electricity inside my bones
And makes me want to
Reach
Out
To burn your skin
The way you're burning me

Letters
Aimee Harris Aug 2015
Dear lover
I regret to inform you that I cannot refer to you as my lover any longer.
Not for lack of wanting, but for lack of love
See, two people can be together without love
Two people start out without love and may progress into it
But that was never going to be the case for us.
I cannot refer to you as my lover because we are not lovers;
We may have *** but we do not make love
Because to make love you need to have love
Have the intention for love.
Love making makes love and love allows for love making.
Dear lover
I've realised now that you were never going to love me.
It was never in your intentions to love me
Nor to make love to me;
I can't even remember an instance when you called me lover.
Perhaps the name was implanted within me because I had the intention of love
I was ready for your love and love making
But you didn't want to write me any letters.
Dear lover
I regret to inform you that your lack of letters has meant I was unaware of your lack of intentions
And I fear I may have fallen
And might want to call you my lover forever
Signed, a lover of non existent letters.

You Make Me Blue
Aimee Harris Apr 2015
Tonight, I write in blue
I write with a thick marker on thin paper
I press hard onto the page
And make the ink run;
Make it bleed beneath the cover
A stain
A bruise.
Tonight, I write in blue
When I normally write in red
I scrape my letters together
And force them into words
With sharp edges
Sharper tongue.
Tonight, you make me write in blue.
You make me blue
When we used to be red.

My Only Company
Aimee Harris Dec 2014
When life is asleep
And my only company is Lady Lightning
And Madame Thunder
I sit wondering
If the rain against my window
Has ever trickled down yours
If the water that soaked my clothes as I walked home
Has ever run down your face
And reached your eye
A tear in reverse.

Are you seeing the same bolts of lightning that I am?
Does the light give a faint glow to your night
Where it illuminates the dark for me?
Do you hear this thunder growling?
Can you hear it shouting its presence?
Would you hear me shouting your name?
Would my voice carry over this emptiness?

Would you listen?

The rain is fading
Yet the thunder still calls
And dear God does it sound like your voice.
Midnight thunderstorms are my favourite

Say My Name

I'm drowning in air
And inhaling the ocean
And thinking
About the sound of my name
Wrapping over your silken toungue

Comparisons
Aimee Harris Sep 2014
I don’t know what’s worse
When comparing scars with someone
Them saying
'Someone did this to me'
Or you saying
'I did this to myself'
