Honk honk honk honk,
Honking till our minds go bonk!
Honkin’ here, and everywhere,
Honkin’ even if no one’s there.

Honking like they’re driving high,
Honking like they’re ’bout to die.
Still honking after seeing red,
Honking till our ears bleed blood.

Then there enters a tortured guy—
Probably the wisest in Mumbai:
“Gimme a *****, lend me a hand,
Let me show them well who owns this land.”

One of the greatest makes of mankind:
The decibel meter—time to shine!
You wanna honk? Go ahead—
If you want the timer reset instead!

The more you honk,
The more you wait.
Stay within the limits—
You’ll be safe.

No more honk honk honk,
No more minds going bonk!
I've recently heard that the "Honk more, Wait more" campaign have attatched decibel meters to traffic lights to control the noise in the ever-honking roads of Mumbai! The idea is basically the more you honk, The more you wait, and that is ingenious, and has made a huge impact! Kudos to the campaign! This shld be implemented throught our country i suppose 😅!

need not necessarily be
an ocean of metaphors,
brimming with lofty words.

Hey there! I'm a new member of this wonderful community, and I'm absolutely loving it so far! Everyone here is so supportive and helpful, and I’m truly in awe of the beautiful poems shared here. Seeing your work has inspired me to write like that too! As a beginner, though, I sometimes feel my poems are a bit too simple. I often find it hard to express ideas in a poetic way, and my writing ends up sounding more like a conversation. I also find it a little difficult to interpret some of the deeper poems shared here, and I struggle to keep up with the level of creativity and expression many of you have. I’d be really grateful if you could share any advice, tips, or tricks to help me grow as a poet. Thank you in advance!

US!
Hahaha, you'll hear that first!
In random talks we'll be immersed,
like there's no one in the world but us
We're the definition of a mess!

One's a girl who's smart and quiet,
no, that's what you'll think at first sight
Those close friends who know her well,
know she's got a lot to tell!

Other's a girl who's balanced right,
with a good amount of all, she's bright
if there ever is a heart to mend,
she'll be there with one to lend!

The last out there, is a crazy one
her teeth shines as bright as the sun
She's got the guts, but not the glory
Basically, she's the fun in our story!

We don't fight much
but when we do,
we make sure it's settled
by the noon.

And when we laugh,
we howl to the core
We chortle so hard,
our cheeks become sore!

A world without you,
is a world without me!
We didn't meet by chance,
but by destiny!
To our trio, thank you for the good times!

Life's orchestra
1DNA May 27
Life, a living orchestra —
a slow, steady climb,
the beginning of an overture,
greeted by the ****** of bells,
a gentle lullaby.

Gradually ascending —
a hum of the cello,
followed by a whisper of drums,
and a surge in pitch —
an escalating crescendo.

Emotions of music —
an overwhelming symphony,
dances alive,
attains its pinnacle,
an immense apogee.

A languid fall,
Into a pit of echoes,
all life enervates,
fading;
the final moments
before the end begins.

Aftermath creeps,
ushering in silence,
inching along,
devouring bit by bit,
towards a silent cadence.

One with the Sea
1DNA May 5
Right from the start, I messed up bad.
"Please be happy, don't be sad".
What pathetic words from me,
as I watched you drown in sea.

Didn't pull you out, didn't lend a hand,
But stood tall and high in the land.
Didn't bat an eye, as I watched you cry
I turned away and let time fly.

Soon after, I was back again
To find lost joy I might've lost there then
I came closer, thinking it would be found
I would be safe, as I'm on the ground.

But then, the waves grew loud and big,
as I stood off-guard like a fragile twig.
I couldn't escape; I couldn't flee.
You became one with sea.

Dandelion fingers
Brush bruised, barren land

Speckled snowflakes sewn
From follicles of frost

Dusty dreams drape
Over salted wounds

Mystic memories mark
Mirages in no man’s land

Subtle, silvery silence
Nestles through prolonged nights

A touch too tender —
Love and light,
Love and light.

~

Chaos creeps,
And silence speaks.

Love that’s light
Is no match for nature’s blight.

Seeds disperse
Under Satan’s curse

All that remains
Of seeds once sown —

Stark, spiked stems
Of dandelion fingers

Dandelion fingers of my own.

This poem was a tough one, battling poetry block n trying to express something that's generally a taboo topic!
I often find me soothing myself by self hugging and stuff like that. I do this sometimes to feel that special touch; to feel the love i never felt.

Bundle of Sticks!
1DNA May 30
Once upon a time,
there lived a family of four.
There were always disputes and quarrels
behind the door.

All four brothers
stood firm and high,
while the father looked back at them
with a sad little sigh.

With all failed attempts
to resolve the fight,
he would teach 'em a lesson
to set them right.

"Go fetch a bundle of sticks,
just near the cattle!
Lemme teach you all a lesson—
a lesson to never battle!"

As they trudged along their paths,
under their breath they mumbled,
"Now what are these for?!"
They groaned, and they fumbled.

In the house, the father
told them to break the lot.
They tried and tried and tried,
but in the end, could not.

Then the father said,
"Now, break a single one."
In just a matter of seconds,
it was already done.

Now this is where they realize the moral of the story...

When we are together,
we are strong and hard.
We have the gift of unity—
thank the Lord!

When we are divided,
we are easy to break.
But when we are united,
a good team we make.

"Now do you realize
the mistakes you've made?
Now do you realize
the values you can take?"

"Yes, we do—
we're proud to say!"
My first poem, dated back to maybe a hear ago!

I'm not who you think I am,
What I show you is all a scam.
This is not the actual me,
You only believe what you see.

If I help you,
You must help me back,
And if you don't,
I'll change my track

On to the next person I'll go,
So that, into me, all the benefits flow.
"You're so selfless!", if I hear you tell,
I know I've twisted your brains very well.

"Do good and it'll come back to you."
Is that so? Doesn't seem very true,
Lately, my do-good scheme,
hasn't been working like how I dream.

Thats when it hits me plain and hard,
All of you are playing the exact same card.
We're all just actors in this stage,
Our true hidden selves, behind a cage.

Every one of us is trapped within this feat,
of manipulation, trickery, and deceit.
We're all just pawns of something greater here.
Is this darkness, the so-called fear?

yet it slips through my fingers.
A vast mirror reflects the morning sky,

Yesterday, a gentle ripple caressed the shore —

Today, a whirl of conflicts
devours all, whole.

As clear as glass — yet mysteries lurk,
in the uncharted waters of your deepest thoughts;
escaping light,
blending seamlessly into the eerie dark.

Drowned in your tears,
you became the ocean itself...
while I stood frozen in time,
slowly watching you drift away.

The crowd starts roaring.
The poor kid's laughing too,
As the insults keep pouring.

"You're flat as a table!"
They snicker out loud.
She shakes it off with a laugh,
Silently wishing she was round.

"Check out those juicy melons!"
They praise the boy’s sight,
As the girl gets devoured
By their monstrous delight.

Stand up for the bullied—
Tell ’em, "That's rude."
They'll start mocking you:
"Aw, you tryna be someone good?"

Call the perverts out,
And tell ’em to shut up—
No, they won’t listen to ya,
They'll call you the ****.

Why?
Because in this generation,
The good's the bad,
And the bad's the good.

I'm just a person,
with high expectations y'know?
I'm not really happy,
though it appears so

I do a lot for others,
thinking they'd do the same for me
but i guess im just hurtin'
by my own fantasies

Or is it just me
tryna potray a good girl?
Oh my god, what am i thinking...
my mind's such a blur

Am i actually selfish?
Using people for my advantage?
I don't really look like that, right?
Maybe, it's just my cunning language

Or am i just the overthinker,
pondering a lil' too much?
'Bout people's opinion on me,
pros 'n cons 'n such

Wait... what if im actually selfless,
and an understanding person?
Always doin' right,
following values and lessons

If I have ever hurt you,
I truly am sorry
But has anyone ever apologised
for my never-ending story?

My never-ending story,
of loneliness and pain?
Maybe I just deserve it
for driving you insane

In this world, where life's a stage,
Behind every smile,
is not a happy role
Smiles radiate warmth,
mine got cold

But I guess i'll take a breather,
its a chapter, not the whole
Just a little longer,

Unwelcome by the gelid gusts of wind,
Howling like arctic wolves of the eerie night,
Flakes of snow pierce my skin like needles of ice
My ragged breathing escalates,
My eyes blaze from the cold,
Every breath is a stab to the throat
My ears are chiming like bells on a Christmas eve,

My view is hazy,
but not from the mist
I pull out every ounce of my energy, my strength,
Perhaps, my final breath
The time has come,
I lurch forward
This is the end, what a monochromous death...

Atleast that's what I thought
There you stood in front of me, greeting
Strikingly gorgeous, a timeless beauty,
Your fiery red petals,
like fresh blood on a white blanket

Plump cherries bloom in red,
In front of them is nature's blood.
Holy liquor, provider of life,
Slowly rots with doubtful eyes.

Down a marcid girl weeps dust,
Her tears of drought carve soil rust.
No sign of life is within view,
In her bed of auburn hue.

Deep beneath, a siren sings,
A haunted tune of sorrow clings.
Let them flourish, let them know,
The red they see is an angel sown.

Six feet down, she’ll try her best,
From her waning pulse to eternal rest.
She’ll pull the roots with all she had,
And let them know to not be scared.

Six feet down, hard she’ll weep,
To not shed dirt but let blue seep.
She’ll bring up life, good or ****,
And let them grow from memory seeds.

Six feet down, is a praying soul,
Hoping they'll see through the cracks and the holes.
Until then, let them know, let them know,
That all that's red is not a life gone cold.

Ants and a God
1DNA 5d
Once a pompous ant
called a meet with God.
"There shall be death—
the minute we claw!"

Oh, but God knew better
than to waste His time.
"Your wish shall be granted,"
and followed a cheeky smile.

The next day, the leader
marched tall with pride.
"I am the King of Ants!
Learn… and those brave, may try."

"Gnar! First bite!
Such ease! Such grace!
Behold, the King of Ants—
no power can face!"

"Victory is ours!
It is our reign of dread!"

cried the king with glee,
applauded by an army red.

Up above the clouds
mused a mastermind:
"Three, two, one…
I bet it’s about time—"

Squish! Squash!
Horror strikes!
The Emperor has fallen—
"Holy spikes!"

"Pack your bags!
We’ve been fooled!
We wanted meat…
but we’ve turned food!"

Burp! "Huh!
I play by the rules.
They asked for death—
those haughty fools
!"
Haha! I loved writing this one!

— The End —
