Can we stay here
Just a minute more?
Hold my body close,
I’ve never felt like this before.

You made me feel safe,
Curled up in your arms.
Staring into those beautiful eyes,
Admiring your wit and charms.

All too soon it’s time,
We’re headed for the door.
Can’t we stay here,
Just a minute more?

My Muse

You are the pen to my paper
The muse to my art
Through my words
You will live forever
In the hearts of those
Whose eyes have gazed
Upon the work you inspired.

Depression is going outside
and seeing the sun shining brightly
but still only feeling rain.

Depression is standing in a room
with bullets flying in every direction
and being without a shield.

Depression is wearing a muzzle
blocking you from thinking you're
good enough to speak and ask for help.

All I ended up with
was a heart broken for you.
And, in the end, all you are
is a beautiful poetry muse.

No matter the ups or downs
or the in-betweens we went through,
I will always be thankful for the poetry
I wrote because of you.

I remember when I could sing
unafraid of how I sound.
I remember when I could fly
unafraid of the hard ground.

I remember when I could walk
unafraid of where'd I go.
I remember when I could speak up
unafraid of the word "no."

I remember when I could dream
unafraid of the real truth.
I remember when I was a little girl
filled with innocent youth.

Reassurance

Tell me a story.
Tell me a story of victory
and triumph.

Remind me of possibilities.
Remind me of reasons
to make change.

Convince me again.
Convince me that for a time,
I believed in the stars
and the full blown moon.

Assure me...
Assure me that the universe
hasn’t left.

And that I’m still in it.
