The Disjunction
Gowtham Ganni Mar 2018
Bronze glitters more
whereas Iron is natural and more useful

Bronze weakens with every blow irreverseably
whereas Iron strengthens with every repair

Bronze cannot be bent
whereas Iron can be used to make multiple products

Bronze dont mingle with others
tinge of carbon could enhance the power of Iron

Bronze melts at 1000°C
Iron could withstand and withhold for more

Bronze is denser
but Iron wins the strength game

Bronze does not rust
but Iron has the attractive magnetic power

Bronze is discovered earlier
but Iron dominates the world!

Forgive
Gowtham Ganni Mar 2018
forgive me to
ask you to
forgive the ones
who forgive you
Gowtham Ganni Mar 2018
Learn to learn –
from your success but especially mistakes
from your friends but especially enemies
from your acquaintance but especially strangers
from the big events but especially small ones
from your teachers but especially peers
from the easy things but especially difficult ones

When you learn –
learn to focus on just learning and nothing else
learn to learn from any and every circumstance
learn to just learn inspite of appreciation or criticism
learn to leave your ego completely
learn to blindly follow the prudent guru
learn to be the best among all in learning
The above two verses are based on the teachings of Acharya Chanakya on the qualities of an ideal student

The bitter neem reminds of those days -
the day your heart broke
the day you have to leave your family
the day your beloved pet passed away
the day you felt your life purposeless
all those days filled with sadness

The sweet jaggery reminds of those days -
the day of your first kiss
the day you achieved a dream
the day your kid first walked
the day you received the first paycheck
all those days filled with happiness

The spicy chilies reminds of those days -
the day you were criticized
the day you couldn’t find a solution
the day you waited long in queue
the day you were rejected after many attempts
all those days filled with anger

The sour tamarind reminds of those days –
the day you are completely lost
the day your dearest friend betrayed
the day you failed in everything
the day the problems seemed unsolvable
all those days filled with disgust

The pinch of salt reminds of those days –
the day you are left alone
the day you failed an exam
the day you have to speak facing the crowd
the day you felt crisis in life
all those days filled with fear

The tangy mango reminds of those days -
the day when a stranger  helped you
the day you received an thank you note
the day you met a very old friend
the day when a wish suddenly becomes the reality
all those days filled with surprise

Combine all -
the experiences of life in a single dish

this is the wood
that holds the axe
that cuts the tree
that creates the wood
that holds the axe
that cuts the tree

born was this day -
the king of the kings
the monarch of the south
the lord of the war elephants
the nightmare of the enemies
the upholder of the righteousness
the fervent patriot of the nation

established had he -
the mightiest empire of the renaissance
the kingdoms that don’t know dearth
the cities with surplus rubies and diamonds
the villages with flourishing greenery and jubilance
the sites with fascinating monuments
the territories with impenetrable borders

known was he as -
the ambidextrous sword fighter
the indomitable malla wrestler
the maven of the fine arts
the polyglot patron of the five languages
the prudent administrator and strategist
the paragon of an ideal ruler

been had he –
the hope of the people
the savior of the Hindu culture
the beacon among his contemporaries
the generous and the inclusive king
the valiant frontline military general
the esteemed scholar and poet

ended had he –
the atrocities on the peasants
the societal repression on the women
the ludicrous taxes on the residents
the brutal conquests of the invaders
the pernicious rituals in the communities
the chaos and disunity among the kingdoms

left has he -
the fear in the evil
the legacy of his deeds
the stories of his glorious reign
the prolific heritage sites to the people
the spectacular literary upsurge
the inspiration for the united India
Sri Krishna Deva Raya (Emperor of Vijayanagara)

It’s the time I observed
the dark skies shine,
the rain drops rumble,
the children celebrate,
the climate freeze,

It’s the time when
my echoes of the heart begin to mumble
with the lullaby of the wind, and the cup of tea
redefining the meaning of heaven
Oh nature! give us more of these days
I will dedicate you more of these poems
