The quietness prevails.
I'm trapped in, but want out of this jail.
Emotions or illusions?
Assumption or conclusion?
I am trying to focus;
My sanity, it doesn't hold up.
Remember what they told us:
Shut up, silence is golden
The divine disease that we call love...
It's been a while. Happy new year, whatever that means.

1/4/2020 - Poetry form: Alliteration - Each poem in my Alliterative Alphabet Series describes conversations between two or more people while only using words that start with the first letter of the title of the poem. I’m publishing the poems as I write them on Wattpad.com, not necessarily in alphabetical order. My goal is to write at least 26 poems to cover each letter of the alphabet. I hope you find the concept interesting, maybe even clever. Most of all I hope you enjoy them :) - Copyright © Mark Toney | Year Posted 2020

My favourite part of the day is when the sun sets,
when the sky illuminates purple, pink and orange clouds filled with hopes and possibilities, the world becomes peaceful.
I feel most content for those few very brief minutes as the wind whistles a contented melody calling me to It's oasis of pure tranquility,
but then the sun goes down and the anxiety pumps right back into my veins and the pressure of my future is all i can think about again.

What the **** do you see in me?
Why do you stick around?
I find it difficult to believe
That I'm the greatest thing you have found

Why do you love me?
Do you ever wonder?
Or are you oblivious
To the spell you're under?

I'm so far from perfect
You're so very near
How is it that both of us
Are not as black and white as we appear?

Am I your worst nightmare
Or still your dream come true?
Lately it's been cloudy and grey
Do you miss when skies were blue?

I'm constantly replaying memories
Of yesterday in my head
How do I stop living in the past
And make new ones in the present instead?

Will you help me find myself again?
Or have I been lost far too long?
Which direction is the right one?
What do I keep doing wrong?
Haven't written a part to thus in a long time

the slender knife between his eyes
and the dripping crimson dew
flapping of the ravens feather
drenched in the sound of silence
as the thunder echoes what she cannot speak
his hands tied together
in prayer to the empty heavens
whom no one has set foot upon
his eyes open but his sight has been seen
and a secret to his grave-less burial he shall take
who did he see in this burnt paper town
and why did he die for its cause
and in his hand his paper blots
to the river of sewage beneath the street
to the heavy cries of the dark clouds
that bare no more a silver lining
where his paper bleeds not far different
from the man who is losing his ink.
i'm writing a story in the form of poetry
and this is part one hope y'all like it

Dogs eat dogs
And dogs eat cats
Cats eat cheese
And same for rats.
Omnivore, carnivore,
Whoever we be
We shape our tools
And our tools shape we

Rings and wrinkles,
Tales to be told,
I gained the world
But lost my soul.
Can't turn back,
Can't uncry the tears.
Not laughing last:
My end is near

Inquisitive your eyes
Where your hairline meets your eyebrows raised
There also are mine and my praise

Stay your tongue to save discomfort
Stay your tongue and lose forever
The chance to speak of whatever it was

Falling stars always appear so far
So bright as they burst with their last dying light
How crazy is it to think that we, humanity
May see, but will never feel, their burning light
