Light the match
Catch my fire
I’ll give you all that you desire
My heart needs healing
Your soul needs feeling
I Planted roots in your meadow
Told you my secrets
And watched
As my truth unraveled
Caught your gaze
In the mellow pastures
Forged across the ruins
Of star crossed lovers
irinia Jul 2023
has the temperament of high waves,
the character of raging winds
it can read the bones of the sky
it can be as quiet as unused ovens or
as the light over the hills after the storm

a woman's passion invents new remedies
but no desperate religion of salvation
for the curse of being bodies full of time.
it doesn't accuse you of the insolence of being yourself
no need to use blood metaphors in this poem
cause a woman's passion simply moves the air in your blood
so effortlessly that all you might want is run away and
die again and again
i remember
nights
staying up
late just
to hear your
voice on the
other end
let's forget
what hides
beneath our
lies and love
anyway
you are a lover of
the night

you see
what the day is
too shy to reveal
i am still
wondering if you
can love me
in every season
after so long
they say
trust your
instincts yet
trusting you
with all of my heart
proved them all wrong
