Saturday evening and it's getting late
You're on your own two feet and smiling
Wishing your friend goodbye as you walk them home
They shut the door and you realize you're alone.

The darkness consumes the sky above
And the chilly wind whispers in your ears
As you start to turn to face the fears
Of the long journey home, it's a night to love.

Walking home you see the trees
They wave back and forward as if saying hello
The night lights in the sky and the street ahead
Make you feel comfortable as you stride forward.

Across the traffic bridge, you gaze over the ledge
Many cars drive by, vanishing underneath you
Taking a seat, feet hanging from the edge
"Can't help but just enjoy the view."
A poem not intended to rhyme, but just to present an evening image

The storm settled,
Gentle winds clear the streets of

There were one too many,
For one too many,
                                First Dances &
High Stakes.

Lingering emotions
                                        Faint Recollections
Snapshots of Regretless Mistakes.
I want a city that always breathes,
Never sleeps
I want dancing all night long,
To be wild and ***** too

I want singing all day,
I want something new

Make me feel alive
Make me smile
Make me laugh
******* and make me glow

Endless nights,
Endless fun,
Endless kink,
Endless life

My heart longs for excitement,
I'm too young to settle down,
Watch out,
I'm simply untamable now...
Hey luminous Dark!
You reflected my existence;
History of a nightingale,
This melancholic melodies,
Made for torment-
Or the tang of abandonment.
I love the silent hours in a night.. Some nights only for torturing me and some others gave blissfull dreams and Charming life... But for me, dark is terrorist. I conceal myself in the dark.. I had nothing to look forward too..
So Good Night!
A day gone and again reborn.
But i am always the same.

bare feet
          concrete jungle
stepping, stopping,
gone
the smallest of pebbles
neon flickers
                                                              do not call after her
night erases the gaps
streetlights dim
loneliness
            glows
                                                              do not call after her
she dances telephone wires
       asphalt horizons
                                                              do not call after her
even the sidewalks
are silent
effie ebbtide Nov 2015
"I got kissed once," she mumbles,
sitting outside the local Sonic,
between her fingers a corndog fumbles,
mixing her slushy with beer and tonic.

The not-so-neon sign of the dive
flickers like a flashlight there;
the activity isn't alive,
its fundamental force impaired.

"I remember it vaguely," she groans,
the seat of her car squeaking,
"The times were full of gasps and moans,
my memories are fleeting."

Many things happen at night
while others are asleep.
Under the not-so-neon light,
the stillness made her weep.
Inspired by the odd stillness of nightlife.
Daytime sleeping; Nighttime thinking
What's so extraordinary about the daytime?
The night is much more fascinating.

Sun that's sweltering and ablaze; but,
Moon's godly, mysterious & ageless.

What's not to adore about nighttime?
It's, its' mystery & danger that compels you; full of its magic if you know where to look.

Night creatures everywhere come out to captivate.
Early birds everywhere come out to pull through.
I'd rather be a night creature full or life and adventure than an early bird full of doubt's & regrets.

A quiet life
A country life
Where the grass sways in the breeze
And the hues of green signify the beginning of balmy nights
A far cry from the city
Gone are the endless vibrant lights
Gone are the 2 a.m. trips across town just because they make the best doughnuts
In this place of air almost too clean to breathe
They stroll
A traffic jam is four cars at a stop sign
Battling rules of the road with polite hat tips of "you go first"
Fast feet and hot dog carts
Italian ices on every corner
Fifty-six blocks to a destination
A world of choices
A billion footprints at a time
Stoplight crowds of sneakers and pantyhose
Everyone is invisible and naked at once
The green haired freak and the business man
The limos and the gypsy cabs
The excitement only felt in a world of possibilities
The difference between pick up trucks and bike messengers
A hundred miles for supplies
Or fifty-six blocks of everything under the sun
Soot filled pores and too much traffic
Street sounds to sleep by and a world of opportunities
Crickets and junebugs
The world closes at eight
Nightlife turns into Wal-Mart and Taco Bell
The slow pace of growing grass
The warmth of a winterless Summer
Wishing for a trip across town at 2 a.m. just because they make the best doughnuts

A weather rocket
vrooms through air
over the darkened balcony
noiselessly,
only the light speaks to us
of her urgency,
it resonates with
her and me.
Her full lips,seal mine
stops me from speaking
voicing ****** nonsense.
Mute witness now am I,
prompted to scale the peak,
she wishes, to take me.
I only can sigh to relay her moans
to register erupting pleasure
mounting to reach a brimming ecstasy.
A group of fruit bats,
(among them one, I imagine,myself)
dramatically fly  scattering
to all eight directions.
A pale moon , eagerly study
their diverse trajectories,
as if she wishes the company
of any one, that would darken her door way
though  by accident.
