My Dear Poet Jan 2024
I left you this note, last night
beneath your pillow
but you never came home to your bed
rk Jan 2024
you once said
i was your very life source
before leaving me behind
without a second thought
now i can't escape
these memories of you
and so i hope my love stains you
like spilled red wine
on fresh linen sheets
i hope my name burns your throat
clawing its way out
when you try to forget
i hope every stolen glance
every clandestine moment
haunts you
my ghost greeting you
each time you close your eyes
the feeling of how it felt
to have me
bright and alive and burning
before losing me
like dust in your hands
eats you alive.
- you were the destruction i never saw coming.

the roses on your knuckles
bloomed
as you held me open for you
moonlight casting it's gentle glow
silver cupping your face
as your eyes met mine
and my soul awakened
longing to dance with yours
each breath a crescendo
that left no doubt behind
the knowledge so clear
like the sapphire sky
shining above us
the balmy summer night
our own refuge
i couldn't escape it
the stolen whispers between us
were never going to be enough
for my heart had been yours
in every lifetime.

~

i was an ocean
you; the moon
suspended in darkness
amidst a billion stars.
i’d reach for you every night
now; forever more
until the last star
burns into oblivion.
i’d reach for you every night
even knowing;
i’d never touch
your perpetual glow

I feel it most when he’s gone,
At first it doesn’t feel like much
But the bruise on the cheek where he kissed me
Only gets sweeter to the touch

Like salt left on skin
From a swim in the sea
The remnants of him
On my body debris

My heart is bleached
By the sun of him
When he leaves, I’m still his
Every bone, every limb
This poem is about missing someone.

There are moments when I don't think of you.
When I don't remember.
I am blissfully whisked along in the swirling eddies of forgetful fog.

Always when the fog clears, you are there.
Rather, you are not there and I remember.

I remember the way a silhouette remembers— the outline of the place you once were stands stark against the background that is.
I blend into the background and you pop as a silhouette.
Your figure cuts me, sharper than knives and deeper than the despair I feel at having lost you.
Can you lose something if you know where it is?

I spend so many moments thinking of where we used to be and remembering where we are now.

In the quiet hush of evening's embrace,
I sense your absence, a lingering space.
Moonlight mirrors the glow in your eyes,
Yet, without you, it's just starlit skies.

Your laughter, a distant, haunting song,
Echoes in the silence, where you belong.
In the symphony of memories we share,
I find you in every whispered prayer.

As time dances on, a relentless tide,
Longing for you, my heart can't hide.
Each sunset a reminder of your touch,
I yearn for you, missing you so much.

In the canvas of dreams, you're a vivid hue,
A portrait of love that continues to grow.
The miles may stretch, but love persists,
Aching for the day we reunite with bliss.

May every breeze carry my love to you,
In the longing, may your heart stay true.
Until the moment when distance will cease,
Know you're missed, wrapped in love's increase.

each kiss had me soaring higher
blinded by the sweetness of the sun
my name on your lips
just as holy as any sermon
they say falling feels alot like flying
until you hit the ground
but as the wax from my wings melted
sticky and red
i decided it was worth it
to be close to you
c l o s e s t  to you
for even a moment.
- endless moons have past, and we swore we'd never become strangers.
