I might be wasting my youth.
It didn't hit me until just now,
flipping through social media feeds.
I know it's false,
but it feels real.
The smiling faces,
the laughs, the loves.
They may not have it every second,
but they have it this second, right now.
And I don't.

We scroll through Facebook to hide our emotions
While posting about things to make it seem as though we have emotions
Voicing our opinion on things that won’t even matter in the morning.

Week by week wasting time on things that don’t matter
While running from what we know we need to do.
Why are we so afraid?
Maybe it’s the thought of putting in all the work and then still have nothing to show for it.

How do we know what we want ten years from now
when we can’t even decide what to have for dinner tonight

Stress adds up which makes us feel down
Motivation is hard to find when you don’t know where you’re going.
Close friends becomes distant memories
And suddenly you’re all alone with every decision you’ve ever made.
Scary isn’t it?

Check out this poem I performed @WordnSound
who do we believe
when it comes to news delivery
are any of the reports
credible in their livery

a fake story can
promulgate far and wide
there's a question mark
along for the ride

reading between the lines
is a definite must
that's where we'll find
something to trust

media organizations
peddle much disinformation
which invariably requires
an expert's confirmation

false copy in the daily
cycle of press release
these misleading volumes
never seem to cease

inaccurate news is blurring
the picture we see
by not displaying an authentic
perspective's tee

The world is connected with media
from Google to Wikipedia

Media has its own power
which can be felt every hour

Many task media can perform
like refreshing, updating and inform

Holding the world only media  can dare
it can harm or it can care

If there is a  flock from ruling side
it would be revealed instead of hide

These are the work which media does
they can sting or silently buzz

Media can attack or can defence
they can  change people in their sense

TV screens, social media,
All  anaesthesia
Just a regular dose of it we swallow
To keep us surviving
the reality that this world us a crumbling mess,
An empty hole, a worthless gem
A beautiful box that only offers lies and mistrust.

Popularity, celebrity
Everybody's searchin' for some worth, some place to fit in
Somewhere to stick their name in the hall of fame.
But take it's all anaesthesia, for it doesn't add or subtract a pound on the scale.

The hottest stars, the hottest gossip,
Father look what hypnosis, your kids are drinking.
Falling for the fake but sweet illusions and fantasies
Where time is turned to static and makes them forget of the long road ahead still to be taken.

Father look what anaesthesia your kids are taking in...
And sadly, it's strong can't let the truth through the door
Yet, we all know the blind can only run.into a trap if they ignore the voice warning in the background.

Father I wish you could open their eyes before the anaesthesia kills their sight...
For eternity
Anaesthesia is all around just ask God for the vision before it goes too far.
It exists in so many ways,
But in the end, it's still  there and still dangerous so what do we choose, ignorance or prevention.
talk not to me
of the reality that media shoot
at me from morn to evening

not of catastrophes or cruelties
humans inflict upon each other
with never-ending venom

speak to me of the delight
a newborn gives its parents

the joy and pride a child feels
mastering its first challenging task

the sudden sparkle in the eye
of refugees when finally they have reached safety

the wordless joy when two have found each other
and for a time need nobody else

speak to me
of all the moments in our daily life
that make us proud to be human

We are all so clever,
With our posts and our lies,
And honest comments deleted
To wither and die.
Filters for beauty free of flaws
So we may withstand societies claws.
So we upload
pictures, stories and posts.
I wounder what is it
we long for the most?
To be accepted?
To be seen?
To cause envy?
Or Jealousy?
What is the point?
The whole worlds plugged in,
And we all have hundreds of thousands of “friends”.
yet who is it that
truly cares for us in the end?
Face to face?
What a disgrace!
Letters to send?
This must come to an end!
Written word?
Thats simply absurd!
Memories made?
They still do that these days?!
Now this is a crazy idea..
Just a thought..
But,
What if we all....
Just unplugged?
Not once or twice
And call it a night,
But more like a day?
To spend as you may?
To feel the sun?
To laugh with friends?
And make beautiful memories
to carry with you til the end?
Enjoy the moment of pure bliss,
Without
filters, comments or harsh judgements.
To be yourself
and embrace your life,
Then when your done
You can replug.
And check on all your comments and likes.
And see which was the thing you remember at night.
I get it.
I do it too
But sometimes you need to stop
And just be you.

I live in a nation where the cow is worshipped,
and there is no king regnant,
but it’s funny, how the cow feast on crap,
and the farmer becomes a peasant.

I live in a nation of aye men,
who say aye to a baloney,
of media which protects the cow,
but let the peasant starve slowly.

I watch daily, the television debates,
where logic is razored by bigotry,
and no talks about the peasant,
gagged into silence by the authority.

I witness a bathtub getting sensationalized
when a mid-aged celebrity died,
the debt he’d laden of the dried crop,
no rain never did the sky cry.

He later worked as an indentured laborer,
for a landlord who drinks the cow’s ****,
as a saffroned monk says it’s healthy,
way to the eternal bliss.

A student who sloganed for freedom
from the maw of poverty.
My media says he is a traitor,
and so is the entire university.

At least, let’s agree to disagree,
that is essential to a republic,
let freedom of speech not be seldom,
and never shall it cease to exist.

The peasant must die soon,
and no more shall he crouch in dread,
may someday he incarnate as a cow,
roams free on the city streets, and feast on free bread.
I saw the best minds of my generation destroyed by
Snapchats, left swipes, number of likes and screen-lit nights
Destroyed by 4 second nudes and the two buttons that make 4 seconds infinite
By searching amazon prime for a suicide prevention kit
By taking one sip too many and ending the night with plenty of tounges down your throat
By Geebs with too much milk, opinions stronger than silk
Both good yet impressionable and easy to lose control
By LED light seeping into the numb soul of the follower searching for love on Google
Destroyed by the vibration of a body-count notification
Destroyed by that first battery-powered rip, desperate for a trip thats not to the therapist
Desperate to feel addiction, the need for need combined with heriditary greed
Addiction lowers suicidal thoughts, craving the next day to take your next shot
Shots of *****, shots of hate, shots at children, all shots are great
We feel alive when we hear about death, we finally appreciate oxygen breath

Destroyed by the friendships lost over hillary vs donald
Waiting for the day we get old, so that we have a say & we’ll look back and realize these are suppossed to be the good old days
The days spent sitting in metal chairs next to the boy with ***-smelling hair
Destroyed by the fear of never being enough because college prep means you are on track
And on track means you’re two steps back
The princible said “cover up” to the girl with the huge rack
Every eye that is layed on you is a personal attack

Behind the scenes of these ******* memes is self deprication and pain that we somehow all relate to
Waiting for the iphone x to come out so that we can feel brand new
Destroyed by depression becoming the media’s new obsession
Destroyed by the inability to jump into a TV screen and live a different life
Destroyed by your ****** up families strife
The ‘correct’ kids words cut like a knife
Destroyed by the fact that there is not enough beer in the world to drown all your fear
About the fact that your stuck in high school for at least another year
This my 2018 adaptation of Allen Ginsberg's poem "Howl"
