leaves fall
Leaving the roots, the trunk, branches
Slow, delicate Journey
Towards the destination; their purpose
Some are here to stay
Some scatter away

Yellow leaves
Filling up with streaks of brown
Venom spreading through veins
They fall again

No more hint of color
No freshness
Until there’s nothing left but
Brown rust and stiffness

Leaves they fall
Returning to the roots
Using leaves as analogy to life, death and aging in between.  Everything starts at the roots and returns to the roots again

Roads, routes, coast, sand,
You never know where you will land.
Good company, a celebration,
Parting gifts - words of affection.
While gentle bonds between us grow
Some always stay while others go.
While distance between bodies grows,
To me you are forever close.
My love for you no distance knows.
for my dear friend who is moving on in her journey

I'll miss you but the space you hold in me stays

the desert air was dry,
scratching his throat.
he stood at the end
of the road,
squinting in the sun.
he saw red in the distance;
the color of his lover.
he closed his eyes
and held out his hands,
waiting.

his lover pushed back
his red hair out of his face.
he came up to the ghoul
and wrapped his arms around him,
whispering to him that—
that this time was the end,
that this time...
he wouldn’t be able
to follow him.
he brought his hands
up to the ghoul’s face,
and kissed him hard.
a kiss of poison;
a kiss of goodbye.

and then the ghoul
was left...
standing alone
under the sunshine.
Inspired by something important to me.

I prayed that you would show up for me
but, oh, what a foolish wish
my sixteenth birthday, not a word from you
not that it's your fault
you're busy
i get it
but god how i wish
i wasn't waking up from fifteen
the year i met you
the year you changed me
the year that belonged to you is fading like a sweet dream
you wished me into
each year before your's came and went
but your's lingered
before finally passing on
without words
with empty promises
fifteen went quietly
softly
unlike it came
unlike i am
as sixteen comes into its own
just so everyone knows, yes, he did end up wishing me a happy birthday.

she's about to leave again
and i'm hiding my fear
need
        to
             stay
                   strong

but can i?

the white knight did not make eye contact
when he left
simply, he picked up his sword
and walked out to a starless evening sky

he left the fireplace lit
clinging to the remnants of blackened, ashy fire wood
as his heavy metal boots clanged
every step of the way

i watched him climb atop his neighing stead
and heard the clip-clops of hooves fade in the night

i told him to stay
he didn't

soon after
he returned
but only what was left of him.

the wind is yelling
the trees are screaming
the grass is begging
the water running

i can't stop thinking
about the storm you created
you took away what i awaited
no more love - just your hatred
dead birds and haunted hearts
no more flowers - just the dust
that you left behind
when the storm was over

Whatever it takes
I'll do anything
Don't do this
Don't leave
I can change
You're everything to me
Anything you want
What do you want me to do?
What do you want me to say?
Name it!

Okay!
Go!
You're worthless!
*******!
You're nothing to me!
You make me sick!
You're disgusting!
How do you live with yourself???
Don't ever come back!

Wait!
Don't...
*Door Bangs Shut
Leaving is never easy but when it's time. Go.

The winds blew
leaves are dancing and rustling
Season of fall
Then I saw you leaving
First poem to be published, thank you for the opportunity to post.

i was so used to people leaving
that it occurred to me like a habit
–a daily routine, a little less off my to do list

it was always bound to happen
like a messy bed after a night's sleep
then I will open my eyes
when the clock ticks at eight

i was used to people leaving
that i leave the front door open
and keep it unlocked as a habit
so ill have little less people to keep
just a prompt in progress.
