It’s coming!
Closer and closer
It’s coming for all of us.

The walls are closing in,
Oozing the jelly from its victims.
That’s how a loving in made now
Take the people,
Sell the remains.

Oh no.

It’s here,
Am I next or are you?
Not sure.
We’re standing side by side
Two peas in a pod
And now they have come for us.

The walls of October.
Beware,
They aren’t as nice as they appear.

this town feels so small
Or maybe that’s what everyone thinks in a state of social isolation
14, and halloween is just a plastic dollar store jack o lantern with a dent on the side
Lana del ray and the fluorescent orange of a playground slide
over a pile of snickers wrappers and the dead Thursday of a night

But she is unfinished poetry and coffee stains on a sweatshirt
the wings of blackbirds; the gray of the sky sweeping in over autumn winds
Funny, looking back because the dark didn’t feel so scary then
And she likes blasting music through her phone better than headphones
Even though the speakers are kind of broken
But I don’t really care because we’re listening to all my favorite songs
And she knows them all before I even tell her about them

And its miles of vague sci fi references I barely know anything about
While I pretend to laugh even though I’m too busy
Worrying my hands are sweaty
But eventually I give up because hers are too and
Straight up, I wondered if it was love or attention and

she asked me
are they not the same thing

"I stood alone against a terrible monster."
-
It eyes were as numerous
as its digits,
and its digits were as pointed
as its teeth
and it towered above me,
clambering, twitching,
inching
closer
the fire did nothing, the light
had done nothing,
my knives and my fingernails
did nothing, at all-
it looked right into me
past my eyes and into my brain
slithering through my blood and my bones
it was hungry, so hungry
and i stood alone
dnd character generator gave me a "defining moment" and instead of making a character i wrote a poem about it. whoops!

brewing potion with ritual
reciting chants, merely verbal
niching these little caviar
a mixture of gravitas and war

such ladle so long enough to combine
a ******'s blood with a spoon of wine
perhaps adding a buckskin would suffice
this hellcat's hellacious bliss

a bushel of a misogynist's intestine,
must not forget to hitch gobs of sharks fin,
augment a pair of an old man's sight
then smatter the hogs' teeth bite

sing song this dark lullaby
you ought to hear plead and cry
smell and smear this fatal brew
any life it shall take and shoo

death will come and it will reign
blood will begrime and it will stain
thoroughly toting the daring deathly hex
seeking a prey who must be next

The creepy smile
Slithers down the hallway
He is searching
For the naughty
To gobble them up.
He is watching
And waiting
Hoping you slip up
Because
He is hungry.
Be careful those of young
Your days are numbered
Christmas is coming
And he is watching
And waiting.

Erratic squirrels
Irresponsibly consume
Fermenting pumpkins.

I am surrounded by
yellow dim lights

their fleshless grin
their sharp screams bouncing, echoing in my head
their dull triangular eyes
they’re desperated to know who I really am

I want to Get out, Run, Escape, Avoid
but the blunt lights are Tracking me, Chasing me

until I become one of them.
I wrote this poem on Halloween!!

On Halloween night,

Monsters emerge,

Ready to instill fright,

An unearthly scourge.

Monsters of all kinds,

Stalk the Earth,

No longer trapped in confines,

Deep-set fear to unearth.

Ghosts and ghouls and goblins,

Zombies and skeletons and spiders,

All come hobbling,

Out as night riders.

Ready to ***** and chill,

To haunt and hunt,

To fill with thrill,

And fight at fear's battlefront.

Creatures of ill intent,

Unite for one night,

Creating discontent,

A vile blight.

Amongst children,

Ready for tricks or treats,

Seven billion,

People's fears to eats.

On Halloween night,

Dark forces arise,

And take flight,

For fear is their prize!

I'm surrounded by madness

It circles around my heart

Corrupting it with blackness

There is no restart

The world crumbles

The ground beneath rumbles

The world has fallen

I am all in

My eyes reopen

And I realize

There is nothing hiding behind this guise

It's time for the door to open

The darkness inside

Is calling for vengeance

It's time they all died

It's time I come back with a vengeance

It is done

I became the one

It's time I disappear

Yet we're all a little mad down here

Sneaky, scaly,

They live in a valley

Slimy, wormy

Not worthy of taxidermy

Patterned all pretty

Not welcome in the city

They have no pity

Very nasty and gritty

Some have a rattler

The worst tattler

Don't even speak like a prattler

Natures guerilla battler

Narrow slits for eyes

Whoever is bit dies

They have no allies

They are an unpleasant surprise

Sneaky, scaly,

They live in a valley

Slimy, wormy

Not worthy of taxidermy
