As I look up,
I remember how the whole sky was alight,
For but a moment.
Dead silence.
The sun staring down in a beauty you could never Imagine.

Sometimes life changes so fast
like a chemical reaction and sometimes
so slow like a cloud in a windless sky,

Sometimes it takes over you like an eclipse
and sometimes it becomes clear like a glass,

Sometimes it gives you so much that you end up
losing or breaking things and sometimes it gives you
so less that you understand to value even the smallest,
tiniest things in life.

Sometimes it is just so predictable like a straight road
and sometimes it’s so random like the twisted and
curled up like the mountain ranges.
Just a simple realisation and experience of life that I feel , is it just me or you too ??

“i guess i’ll see you again real soon.”

the moon said

as it lets out a tiring but content sigh.

“yes,

my great companion.

for now,

rest.

you have work again tomorrow.”

the sun replied.

“till the next eclipse?”

the moon asked longingly.

the sun smiled,

as its eyes

followed the moon’s

light go dimmer,

it lets out a calm response,

“till the next eclipse.”

Perhaps you and I are an eclipse
and our life spans are the time before and after it. As to make sure it only happens once.

And we will glance at one another for a long moment before our fingertips slip through the space between our hands like desert sand.

One last time I will tell you how the stars were always just the light in your eyes, shining through the cracks in my bedroom ceiling and I was merely the darkness inside the room.

If I could stand on my tippy-toes, the way you like it, I would lasso planet HAT-P-7b and place it in your chest between those stars that made you.

But you will vanish from my sight and take my universe with you. And I, spacebound, will travel another 7 years into the next lifetime to find your arms around me in the morning.

Even if our next eclipse lasts only 7 minutes and 31 seconds.
if you like astronomy you will know why that planet is so special. ***

In the middle of summer,
at the end of a long day,
the kruk chased a white mouse up a tree.
The mouse chose the tallest tree in the grove,
but the kruk had flown far greater heights.
Finally,
upon reaching the highest limb,
the kruk devoured the mouse
and rested
after its large meal.
As it sat,
the kruk,
for the first time,
noticed the rays of the sun,
and followed them with its eyes
to their origin.
The sun,
nestled in its hazy, pillowy throne,
shone with less enthusiasm as the day wore on,
and now,
it only gave the earth red and orange lights,
as if the Indian paints covered every inch of the ground.
The kruk marveled at the way the sun could decide what the people did and did not see.
The sun held so much power,
and so much generosity,
for it gave life to the plants
and joy to the animals
when it did not receive any in return.
The kruk took so much pleasure in the light
that it returned to the high branch every morning and every evening to greet the sun,
and although it did not speak,
the sun seemed to shine brighter
when the kruk sang for it.
The visits became longer,
even as the seasons changed
and the days became shorter.
The kruk basked in the warmth that the sun provided,
and lamented when it sank below the horizon
to be replaced with the deep blue illumination of the moon and her many children.
Though the moon was beautiful,
she did not hold the same beauty for the kruk that the sun did.
The kruk soon realized that it was in love with the sun.
Of all the birds in the trees, the kruk was the smartest,
and knew that this love was a difficult one,
but determined that it would join its lover regardless.
After filling up its belly with seeds and cool river water,
and resting well through the night,
the kruk took flight at the break of dawn.
Its love propelled it upwards,
and even as the air thinned,
and its wings weakened,
it flew on.
The sun grew more stunning the closer the kruk flew,
And its glossy black feathers,
Shimmering blue and purple,
Began to singe with the heat.
The creatures on the ground below protested when the kruk began to caw in pain,
But nothing could be done for the bird.
Finally, in a black, frantic streak,
The kruk descended,
Falling through the leaves like a stone in a pond.
It was days before the kruk returned to the high perch on the tree to greet the sun.
The sun continued to shine,
Rising in the morning,
And returning to the earth at night.
No rays were spared in mourning for the disappearance of the dear kruk.
When the kruk once again fluttered upon the well-worn bough,
The animals whispered,
“The sun is too far,
The sun is too hot,
And the kruk is much too weak.”
On the high branch, the kruk hung its head at their words,
And sorrowfully shuffled further down the branch
Into the shade of the tree,
Away from the bright, hot reminder
Of the sun’s unattainable touch.
At dawn the next morning, the kruk raised a matte black beak to the sky and let out a miserable caw.
There would be no union between the two,
Nothing to warm the kruk through the night.
The kruk extended its wings in surrender to despair, and took flight,
Driving its body into the sky until the air became unbreathable
And the clouds offered no protection.
The kruk ignored the burn rippling beneath its feathers and cried out to the sun,
A wild, grief-stricken call to be accepted by its deadly embrace,
And below,
The animals could see for a brief moment,
A shadow falling over the sun.
The animals gasped and looked away,
But for a few moments,
The sun’s shine was replaced with a melancholic glow.
A dark hole of blackness was cast,
Only a small ring of light twinkling around the edges of the sudden shroud,
And the wildlife shuddered in the unexpected coolness.
After its last cry,
The kruk never returned.
The animals do not speak of that day,
But once every century,
The earth remembers,
Covered in a darkness so complete,
That one can only think of a lost, forlorn disciple,
Flying into an unknown fire
And imploring it to love.

Shades of pink dance freely
On the hospital wall
Birth of a girl; and throughout the room
Do the doctors wonder their gaze
To the sight of a newborn on the Earth.

Shades of blue lament
On the alleyway side
Birth of a boy; no father present
To share in witness to the miracle of birth
And the anguish of the mother.

Both do grow in two different worlds
Like the distance of the sun and the moon
Does privilege lie in the hands of day
And do poverty in the hands of night.

Girl does laugh, girl does sing
Girl is strong with what life does bring
Her father a sword, her mother a shield
Her tools in life she does expertly wield
Girl is not alone; her friends play along
In the grand musical of life’s golden song
But life had a different tune to play
On the fated moment that night met day.

Where did the wind blow that noon
That girl saw boy clutch a rusty spoon
With rags to his waist and a face of despair
And that powerful feeling of his dark empty stare

Girl helped boy to his feet
Said, “Come inside and retreat
And bring your mother along too
Because I really want to help you.”

Girl fed boy; cleaned him as well
Girl brought him up from his alleyway hell
Girl’s family gave coin; boy cried out his thanks
To girl’s efforts to raise his meager social ranks

Boy said, “It may not be now
But I solemnly vow
That I’ll come to your aid
When your hopes someday fade.”

Boy grows up and becomes a man
Man saves up money from the work he began
Man buys home and starts fresh anew
Surely woman is faring just as well, too

But woman is beat by the warden she wed
He punched her and kicked her on the floor where she bled
And out in the air did woman escape
As free as a bird from the torture and ****

The street stretches as far as forever
Woman says, “Return I shall never.”
Woman falls and so does day
In the same dark corner where boy once lay

On the rug of alcohol stain
Does the husband bleed his pain
And the ****** needle on the desk
Keeps the husband ever statuesque

He jabs it through a poisoned arm
And the drug worked its usual charm
Down fall husband and the angry blood moon
Last words whispered, “Wish you’d come home soon.”

On the eclipse of the eve
When the sun and moon once met
Where comets illuminated the sky
And the light did never die.

Tears did girl shed when
Her eyes saw boy
Yet did the sun glow once more
When the moon did, too.

So man saw woman so ever down and out
Said, “I’d be there for you without a shadow of a doubt”
And moon helped sun to rise upon the land
When man decided to lend woman a helping hand.

Her freckles are the stars
fallen as dust
pressed upon her cheek
Her eyes carry the universe
which the stars descended from
and somehow they are not so distant

Black holes will engulf my existence
I beg to her,
make me nothing.
But the eclipse brings me to life
and Osiris is delighted this eve.

we are left astonished

Eclipse ….by Jessie

The sun it rises every day from the horizon on the east.
A shining star and heated orb, this galaxies burring beast.
The sun it burns so very bright for its love the celestial moon.
Which makes her grand appearance, eight hours after noon.
A ballet up in heavens sky, as they chase each other around.
Humans with our season tickets, watching from the ground.
The moon she waxes full of love and wanes when all depressed.
Every month she does the same, seemingly without distress.
They love each other with intensity; even though they rarely meet.
Waiting for the magical time, when the two will finely greet.
With love so gentle, we need no aid to see a lunar eclipse.
When sun and moon get the chance, to finely have a kiss.
