Christmas is a happy time,
So warm and cosy
But last year all I felt
Was that I was lonely.

Can’t look at dried mango
Or make gingerbread.
Can’t consider meringues without
The time we made them green and red.

No exciting Christmas mornings
With your messy curly hair.
No ridiculous cocoa recipes
Because you are not there.

I don’t get to buy you a present
That I'll worry that you’ll hate.
No advent calenders and arguing
About who ate which date.

Putting up decorations together
Should be done merrily,
But I took those down the day you died
And that memory still haunts me.

And Christmas for us was always
Eating far too much desert.
Now it’s listening to your favourite songs
And trying not to get hurt.

For Christmas is a happy time
A time for family
But there’s an extra place set at the table,
Just where you should be.

And I won't ever get to see you again.
Just where you should be,
Because in a time reserved for miracles
We had our Christmas tragedy.
Christmas is a hard time for many people, this is my own story.

No Jesus was born on December 25
And no way there's new year on January 1st

The winter is cold and depressing
without an ounce of sunshine

The flowers are dead
The trees are barren
The sky is foggy
And the lips are dry

Why would anything great happen at this time of the year?

Maybe it's our ancestors who are trying to tell us something

If Jesus took birth and survived
defying all the odds
Despite the king of Judea
trying to take his life

Then no matter what happens
You can survive too

If the new year can come
Walking on snow
With no flowers to welcome him
And no sun to keep him warm

Then no matter how depressing the times are
You can always become 'New'
Congrats you have survived another year
Keep fighting your battlles. I am so proud of y'all

Christmas, Christmas, Christmas
Presents, presents, presents
Is that the definition of Christmas?
Cookies, cookies cookies
Is that the definition of Christmas?
What is the definition of Christmas?
Family, giving, love, and most of all
Christ.  This is what we should think
Of when we think of Christmas.
My 10 year old brother wrote this and wanted me to share it with you guys :)
Hello santa

As usual
you cluster
My door with joyful clauses
Suiting the unknown lapses
To aid my beautiful life

Days months gone_bye
I thrive in a dangerous weg
With smile of our last closure
To aid my beautiful life

Surety was not proposed
As chaos roast my coast
But your words created the purpose
To aid my beautiful life

So santa,
As usual
You  cluster
My door with joyful clauses
To suit the unknown lapses
Yet to aid my beautiful life.

                         Thank you santa.

This Christmas you broke
my heart - not quite the present
I was expecting

1:40 PM

Close
Far
Warm breath
Cold air burning beneath southern stars

Quiet
Noise
A comforting voice
In ears at last a presence being, my present

Homeland long seas back
Glühwein shared, ornaments hung
Seeds of heimat placed
Michael Marro Dec 2019
Waking wide-eyed, eyes a'glow
Before the dawn break nigh
A restless slumber - anticipation
Another Yule arrives

Father's love, the warmth of hearth
Curls 'round their heads a'new
Impatient joy and laughter fills the air
As youthful hope comes true

Magic time, this Christmas holds
Words crafted just for them
'Tis strange what peace this precious moment brings
My heart whispers Amen

Pride and Joy - My children dear
Each day you bring my world
Grand dreams and happiness, I wish for you
Move through life, sails unfurled.
Got the idea to try a Christmas poem from Emily Dickinson's XLV [Before the Ice is in the Pools]. A gift to my Pride and Joy, Jack and Emma.
