when i was little ,
dad handed me a shovel and
he handed me
a dress.

he taught me how to dress myself
and then how to garden ,

to dig each hole
in soft
           flesh and soil.

ive grown up since,
gotten taller,
and can hold
the shovel by myself ,

so
i dig graves now instead .

ive saved one for dad ,
and ive saved one for me.

six feet deep ,
it’s a bed with no blankets
and it’s
perfect ,
and
it’s mine —

and
i want to be buried in a dress
i can button
                     all
                         by myself ,

because
dad also handed me a shotgun.
you've made this bed, now lie in it!
Hold me close when I am tired
and my eyes are heavy with sorrow,
we will heal our souls in wrapping each
other warmly in a lavender blanket while
watching the rain, drinking tea and
getting lost in falling stars, I was a
stranger until I opened the heart to
love, our fated silhouettes become
one dream come alive, for you are not
beside but rather a part of my eyes.

Love, let me be your warm woollen blanket,
Waiting patiently on your bed,
For night to unfold,
And so would you me.
Ready for bed,you would reach out for me,
Touch me,
Lift me,
Hug me,
With ease wrap me around your self,
Snuggle underneath me,
Clutch me tight,
In case I don't slid away.
It would be you and I,
Your soft breaths and my warmth,
Will lullaby us to sleep every night.

blankets aren’t just blankets
far more than cloth and fluff

they provide a decent replication
of your arms
holding me

the warmth you provide
the protection you bring
the comfort that swallows me

but when you aren’t here
your arms too far
I have a blanket
that does an okay job

until you’re back
embracing me
you’ll find me cocooned up
waiting
in a daydream
A Christmas gift of
Decades has, many a night,
Kept me warm… cushioned
My arm rest… formed a pillow.
My security blanket.
A beautiful blanket gifted me by a friend, so many years ago, during an illness.  It has kept me comfortable and warm for all these years and still does.

blanket of blue
wrapped around me
some time long ago

it can get hot and muggy
but i don't really mind
it's the color of blue
something new
maybe
it's mine

oh blanket of blue
how true of you
to finally let me in

i'll let you grab and tangle me
so long as you don't cave in
you wrap yourself around my neck
and linger there a few

soft and heavy breathing
as tears begin to spew

blanket of blue
how cruel of you
to leave me here like this

your soft touch
captured my sense
as i cry here for you

you wrap yourself a little tighter
dashing away my hope
you sure love turning my lips
to your shade of blue

A million snowflakes submerge,
                             a blanket of life.
Now static,
      a grave of white
     hides its crime.
Until the forgotten are found, buried once again
in unmarked tombs of silence.
Once again forgotten in a blanket of earth.
the snow's cold blanket
wrapped a biting winter
chill around the land
