I miss sleeping next to my mother
I wish this sinking feeling could stop
But isn’t that what adulthood is like?
Never ending emptiness just to wake up
And relive it all over again?

I miss the days when I was juvenile, a little girl running
With friends at her side
I miss those Sunday evenings with dad
Eating nuggets and coconut ice-cream
While watching the birds sway by

I miss those days when I knew nothing about love,
The heart break and disappointment it brings.

I miss the days when I didn’t have to worry about responsibilities Tying me down

But you really tied me down
And I have myself to blame
For swallowing up your words
Like venom in a bottle
This poem describes that feeling when you are slowly transitioning to adulthood with all its baggage and missing your youthful days of being happy. You get into relationships, you realize you have roles to fulfill. It gets exhausting.

she dances with the devil
she's a forbidden thing
a forbidden people
she converses with the master of manipulation
quite good at the language of lies
cloaking herself in kindness, in sweetness, and in light
she's watching you always, the things you say and write
waiting for the day your heart is not shining so bright
and when she sees you are hurting
she waits and waits
until the day you finally break
the day you collapse to the floor
and feel like the world is too much to bare anymore
then she walks right in, right through your front door
she uses your hurt and picks at your scars
she haunts you and haunts you
she's the shadow on the floor
she's a demon disguising herself among people
she spent too long dancing with pure evil

Sitting here, next to you,
Side by side, as idle equals,
A girls heart is not as tough,
A boy's hands are just as rough.
We play and laugh, you make me cry,
I truly think I might just die.

Sitting here, next to you,
Side by side, as idle equals,
Gonna lose me at the drop of a hat,
No, I’m worth more than that.
Make me think I’m letting you down when I say no,
I think I’ll lose you altogether if I say go.

Sitting here, next to you,
Side by side, as idle equals,
You say that I am special, but we both know I’m not,
And you get what it is, that notch that you want.
I forgive you, and go on, with my unforgetting mind,
Don’t you know that I’m really not gonna be just fine?

You start to wonder what it was that you did that blew it,
The truth is we know, what you did and why you do it.
Make me feel like nothing, like trash, like ****,
Funny how I’m the one who always takes the hit.
And sitting here, next to you, two lives whose manor will never cross,
I know now, that we will never be idle equals.
This is dedicated to every person out there that has felt this way in a relationship. In the moment it's always hard to see a way out, but once you find the exit you take it and never go back.

Forgeting is easy, Forgiving is hard.

"'Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.'"
~ Matthew 11:28-30

"My soul finds rest in God alone;
    my salvation comes from Him.
He alone is my rock and my salvation;
He is my fortress, I will never be shaken...
Find rest, O my soul, in God alone;
my hope comes from Him...
Trust in Him at all times, O people;
pour out your hearts to Him,
    for God is our refuge."
~ Psalm 62:1-2,5,8

"Cast all your anxiety on Him
because He cares for you."
~ 1 Peter 5:7

I don't know you
I don't know how you feel right now
or how you feel about the current state of the nation
I don't know how you like your coffee
or whether you prefer drip over pressed
I don't know the lyrics to your favorite songs
or if you like progressive rock or indie
I don't know your favorite restaurant
or if your prefer Chinese takeout and fast food
I don't know where your next adventure will be
or if you prefer to stay at home
I don't know if you like mayonnaise
or whether you like mustard on your hot dog sandwich
I don't know what you think about in the shower
or what you think about when you're washing the dishes
I don't know what keeps you up at night
or if you're the kind of person who falls asleep right away
I don't know your deepest most vulnerable secrets
or your hopes and dreams and your crazy ideas
what I do know is your heart
and maybe they tell you you have no feelings
that you can't be moved or touched
but I know that not showing them
doesn't mean you don't have them at all
we have the same heart and that's okay
everything will be okay.
I don't know about this poem but it felt good writing it.

They posted pictures of their vacation.
I wondered where they get their money.
They always have smiles of elation.
I wish I knew what they look like when life isn’t funny.

Always posting pictures of their dating status.
Calling their significant others boo and bae.
One day they are in a relationship, the next they are the baddest.
Because their man could not be convinced to stay.

Sometimes they say that they hate their job and work.
They wish that they could earn money from home.
I always thought that to provide always came first.
And work is the portion of those who are grown.

But when they break up, no one ever sees that post.
And we never see the friends who get blocked.
Sometimes people on Facebook be doing the most.
And then wonder why their true friends are shocked.

Because to be a friend or a follower on social media is nothing.
A true friend is one who is with you through thick and thin.
I don’t mean your yo-yo dieting, or your social media husband.
I’m talking about those who held you down from the beginning.

Everyone has apples, but doctors are concerned,
Virtual reality in the hand of the beholder.
“Who’s the outside? Never heard of them”.
Cocooned by the mothers that once hated them.

“Politics? Is that a brand of jumper?”
No idea about the world around them.
The children grow as foods change,
Dietary requirements to save the generation.

100 years since the women’s vote,
Women assaulted, *****, killed.
Harvey Weinstein – a perfect example of the times not changing.
“Women are definitely equal, where’s the proof they aren’t?”

Scientists know that there are more than two genders,
Stupid **** sapiens don’t believe.
“There are only two genitals”
When there’s actually three.

Unknown world to the millennial’s
Screens blocking the view,
Parent’s faces are square and blinding.
“You can’t change the world, why try?”
First poem I wrote properly, I don't know if I like it that much.
