Under patient birds and sun ray,
the cicadas,
drunk from seventeen years sleep,
woke slow today.

They rose from below the loam,
from homes chosen
so,
so
many insect years ago.

Red eyed crawling of beautiful song,
is to love
what you've learned
in waiting so long?
What a lucky time to be in Kansas

This evening, with the wind
of my curtains breathing, I listen for night birds
watch the room grow pale
the finality of day, a nightly ritual
how skies reconstruct themselves over again
twinkle and murmur of stars
cynosure of all planets, even unseen
clouds like amnesia, hide things
our earthbound slipping away
of days lost irretrievable

Have you ever seen the
delta of a river
(from an aerial view)
going into the ocean?
It looks just like
a tree upside down!

The seed senses
A moment where the clouds turn right angles and the ocean turns herself into a bath tub
After the moon runs her cycles all in one night the systems reorganize themselves
And we are swung, eyes grasping just barely at the vastness of this eloquent dance
under the pull of a surrender

owning the ludicrous living.
observer
come , gather at this silence
flow slowly as this meanders
full moon love is delicate tender

ask , receive , thank , release
rinse, imbibe ,  rest ,
release
receive

laugh
shake
shake
laugh

give, allow
be.

I long for earthen forests, deep
And steeped in mystery
The branches curving overhead
Are all I want to see

I want to be the soil, rich,
In which you sink your roots.
The dark, safe place from which you rise
And send forth budding shoots.

I want to keep you grounded, safe,
When high winds bow your peak.
I want to be the gentle place
You fall when you grow weak.

I want to be the canvas which
In fall you toss your paint.
Cover me in golden leaves
That flutter down like rain.

The sun is sane, pure as his light—
Always beaming about certitudes,
Wearing his indigo robe speckled
With old stars— a jewel in the sky.

The earth is but in lone upheavals,
With only friend of desolate moon,
Crowned with bugs, buzzing on fire
And all is madness— under the sun.

the weight is deceiving and the weight is due
like the weight of a wanton heart
the weight is bereaving and untrue
like the weight of a guilty heart

don't wait

i looked, and there, in the glass
death rode fast behind me
i looked, and there, in the glass
time stood still before me
i looked, and there- out there and beyond
my eyes betrayed me

don't wait

if ever you must carry- carry on
carry on as the sun, whose brightest ray has yet to shine
carry on as the moon, whose darkest day you'll never find
and as the stars, who spend all their days reaching
out there and beyond
falling short, but ever closer to glory
all the while, quietly sharing the heavens

I like to take care of things, despite the fact that I never could
care for myself
I tend to flower seedlings, little green silent things thriving on the bathroom shelves
They reach upward to the light while my own soul reaches down to...
My spirit withers while I
Sow seeds of zinnia and ox-eye
Poppies spring from fertile ground while I feel like I could die
Cut sprigs of Rosemary and on the same day
put furrows in my skin, I need to
Prioritize, rationalize or soon I'll share the ground they're in

Mesmerised by an ocean dream,

Eternal life, alone and free.

Rolling waves, sea pure and clear,

Maybe I've found shelter from the storm.

A cave that glistens, a loving aura.

I no longer need my alibi,

Driven to the dream I've always dreamed,

Swimming with the mermaids of the open seas.

Wake up with the morn
Inhale the fresh air
Soak in the light of dawn
Taste the dewdrops
To soothe the parched soul
Dreams are new
Waiting to take flight
Chirping birds talk to you
Listen to them closely
How dreams take flight
Nestle your dreams with care
Wide open arms of morning air
Welcomes you in her world
Wide eyed at daybreak
Capture the beauty of this world

He walked through a wood,
Answering the trees,
Like some golden roustabout,
A Sophocles among nightshades,
Willows and the moving waters,
Wilderness wandered with he,
Wild in the sun as a freckled
Red headed lassie.

White butterflies waved their flags,
Surrendering to the murmurings
Bespoke in the sorrels and sores,
Waves of mumble wept into the winds,
Sands underfoot hushed by with him,
Birds above dreamed of no landings,
He could hear each word in their songs
Warbling in the briars and time poured
Its draught, fresh and dear as the first
Unearthly sunrise.
