A C Leuavacant
Unrewarded again
Was the helmetless knight
For a hero is nothing
Without mask shining bright
Or courage of steel
To keep evil at bay
If he's not looking right
Then I'll send him away

If great sea monsters drown
And dragon eyes turn to stone
What fun if it's done
By a shrivelled old crone
Who could save thieves a bullet
And few years in jail
there's no sign of her
In this fairytale

So where is the saviour?
The galant, the wise
The hero who kills
With a flick of his eyes
Well he's feeling tired
And wanted A treat
So he moved out of town
To a new penthouse suite

But he's still a hero
just sits around having fun
He's Got all his teeth
And his heads nice and dumb
Or maybe the authors
Just got carried away
And lost sight of the message
They want to convey

Everyone loves you
the world is your stage
each line well rehearsed
you’re the latest craze
yet alone in the darkness
a child cries out
unmasked and revealing
a heart filled with doubt
today they love you
what if tomorrow they don’t
how well will you sleep
knowing your demons won’t

There are things metal made-of,

my heart is not one of them.
so treat it caringly, softly, but sensually and completely.

I wish you were here.

Or that you never left
Or that I wasn't hollow
and that my chest didn't feel ironically full
of the burning fire you left festering in there
and the
tiny
shards
of
heart
that you obliterated.

Hi there,
I say to the ocean,
dropping my shoes
for the sandy pilgrimage
to shore,

A lone figure wanders
into a Delft seascape,
Blues and whites
of Dutch perfection engulf
my field of vision,
Water and sky reflecting
back infinite shades,

the blue of stiff dungarees
at the horizon,
clouds in shaving cream white,
the heron blue gray of the shallows,
I could name twenty shades
on a good day, like today
when the beach is all mine,

I step into the cool ooze,
jolted into a sudden jig,
I hop, a riot of ah's and elbows,
Waves rush at me
like a legion of puppies,
frothy and excited,
I laugh at their sloppy greeting,
Overwhelmed by their welcome,
unconditional and salty,
Spray lapping my face
as I find my footing.
