"slurping" poems
There's a Polar Bear In our Frigidaire-- He likes it 'cause it's cold in there. With his seat in the meat And his face in the fish And his big hairy paws In the buttery dish, He's nibbling the noodles, He's munching the rice, He's slurping the soda, He's licking the ice. And he lets out a roar If you open the door. And it gives me a scare To know he's in there-- That Polary Bear In our Fridgitydaire.

Bear In There
Every day is the same; they wake up in the same bed, at the same ungodly hour, to the same monotonous ringing from the alarm clock. They grumble their ‘good morning’s; whether they believe it is or not, rolling out of opposite sides of the duvet. They dance around each other in the bathroom, the heat of the shower creating a fog through which neither of them can see; causing him to stub his toe on the toilet or the counter, and steaming up the mirror so she can’t apply her make-up. They continue their ritual into the kitchen; flicking on the kettle, popping in the bread, pouring the orange juice; stirring the tea, catching the toast and spreading the butter and jam. Crunching and slurping together at the table, mumbling about what their days have in store; tapping texts on their phones, crinkling newspaper in their hands. They peck each other a kiss goodbye and mutter a ‘see you later’ before going their separate ways. But then Monday comes... Mondays are different. He knows she doesn’t like Monday mornings. It’s the very beginning of a new, long, tiring week. She never looks forward to Mondays. So he changes that. He sets the alarm on his watch a little earlier than other days; shutting it off before it can wake her. He slips silently out of bed and tiptoes quietly into the bathroom to shower; leaving her smiley faces and love messages on the steamy mirrors. He creates her favourite tea and makes her toast with raspberry jam; just the way she likes it. Picking a flower from the garden; whichever one looks the happiest and brightest, he places it all on a tray and pads back up to the bedroom to wake her. She no longer sets her alarm on Mondays. She knows he’ll not let her oversleep. He places the flower in her hair and drops delicate kisses; full of his love and affection for her, to the corner of her mouth, until she stirs gently. She smiles on Monday mornings. They eat breakfast in bed, covering the sheets in crumbs and giggling contentedly as the cat licks them up. She hums in the bathroom while he clears away crockery, and always re-emerges with the flower tucked behind her ear. It remains there ‘til night fall. They never once look at their phones or the paper, far too focused on each other to pay anything else mind. Their kiss as they part reminds them of their love for each other and of the good things in life; like strolls along the shore, strawberries dipped in dark chocolate, smiling sunflowers that open to a beautiful summer’s day, and of course, Monday mornings.

# Each body part sizzled in pure pleasure in the blissed wake of your oral efforts brought forth the waves of rapturous delight...                                        Spurs poetic inspiration                                         in equal liberation                                         of desires to please.                                         Bodies transpose                                         in fluid motion                                         as brazen eyes meet.         Savor the voluptuous image before you.         Indulge your eyes in my carnal halo         before they roll to the back of your head. On all fours knees between your thighs tips of swollen breast caress your chest tasting fresh honey upon lips in a kiss.                                         Ripples of ardor                                          hover                                          by wet trails                                          of sensual kisses                                          suckling towards                                          the apex. Breathe in the slow motion pace that pulsates eagerness to the fore tumescing bulge leaking with anticipation of viscous lava.         Tickles of silken hair         against flesh edges closer. Emerging subtle grumbles in deep resonance betray your impatience . Hands tightly twine in tangled hair to maneuver the treasure hunt.                                          Licked lips pause                                          at the sight of fire                                          burning in                                          glazed gazes                                          before engulfing                                          the throbbing member. Plump ruby lips greet velvety texture in a slow deep dive. Tongue curls around the flavor in a dulcet embrace.                                          Moans release                                          as grip tightens                                          in my hair                                          settles the                                          rhythmic pace                                          to taste in an                                          oscillating dance.         The masculine aroma of heady musk         lingering there, arouses my appetite. eating the sludgy contents of your beautiful mind's conscience and dreaming in your thoughts while choking on blood clots slurping up tangled tendons drowning in remembrance tales of your history have now become a meal for me digested in your calculations I am finally free of my frustration.

Observing these old men sitting at the stockyard cafe, Suspendered bellies hanging above huge buckles And button-crotched Levi's tucked tight  over leather boots, Legs grown bowed and thin, but carrying  them to the sale, still, To hear the auctioneer, talking fast to work the buying crowd, And get their fill of cattle, shoved indoors, Sold beneath the steady cracking whips, A spectacle to burn its way into my minds's forever eye: The skidding steers, the rolling eyes, the frantic scramble to find cover, While buyers gave their quiet signs: A tilted cap, a winking eye, a thumb or index finger up or at a side, To purchase cow or bull or horse, in living flesh... Then out again, through the other door, And turn our heads to wait for more, and read the scrolling numbers: How many head, how much per pound, perhaps a buyer's name, And then the swinging sound of other cattle coming in to start again. So, here these old boys sit again, Slurping coffee through their yellowed teeth, Remembering days  of indoor cigarettes and harried waitresses, The smell of cow manure and jingling spurs, Though now the smokeless ring seems tame, more civilized, I see the glory days reflecting in the old men's eyes..... I was just a boy back in those good old days, My memory is a little hazed, but I can recall When smoking was allowed and sawdust covered the filthy floor, A Coca-Cola cost a dime, and the cattle sale with Dad was the big time; Quaking as we treaded light on the catwalks above the pens, Looked for our calves, or cows Dad culled to bring to sale, Then going down and in to see them sell. Fondly now, I can recall the restaurant at the ring Where  I hoped for a slice of lemon pie from behind chill-fogged glass, Saw cowmen wearing spurs and neckerchiefs and chaps... Dreamed of growing up to be a cowboy.

I simply cannot focus on my work as all these animals have gone berserk! Philippa, my darling girl, fill me in, who on earth is making that awful din? There’s an aardvark having a bath,    and a chameleon rolling dice, an eagle searching in the freezer    and a goose hiding in the hedge, an iguana eating our jam    and a koala juggling our lemons, a marmoset slurping noodles    and an octopus carrying paint pots, a quail wearing a ring    and a squirrel making the tea, a unicorn using the vacuum cleaner    and a walrus playing the xylophone, and finally Philippa, finally my girl,    a yak fidgeting with a zip! Where did they come from? I really don’t know, but very soon they will just have to go! I’ve had enough now of this awful din, thank you Philippa for filling me in!

My name is Young Slug and I write hip hop songs. The lyrics sound as clear as a lady slurping dongs. Martin Luther King once told me that my mother was a **** So I whipped out a baseball bat, and ****** him in the **** I think he liked it too much, cause he was moaning "colonel sanders, stick it in my *** and make me dry like the flanders."

you spread me like strawberry jam, licking syrupy wrists and chewing on pips. i will thaw leisurely, until my skin has saturated through your insanity. open me like a mango, slurping, drops of juice upon blemishes, sprinkling candy through open wounds. bite through me, an apple hard and mouth watering. the pits of me will fall, searching for fertile soil, and grow.grow.grow.

She tastes her tongue -stuttering, spluttering- and recoils -bitterness and bile- slobber down the side of the chin, spitting it out. She tapes her tongue to the front of her teeth -so that it does not touch her uttering buds going down- Slurping loudly the syrupy silence and its sounds her thirst grows to frenzy Sacrificial   blood offering -trembling- to the ancients within her

She tastes her tongue
Bullet-wrapped words Spill from dangerous mouths, nonchalantly slurping rumors from fragile adolescence. A golden-plated intention wears a mask of gentle feathers, but becomes warped with ignorance and indirect self hatred. Careless and trivial, the public twists reality into sweet butter braids, melting into an oily confusion that only small children dare to question. It is I who asks for something more and aimlessly wanders varying distance for reasons unknown, and I float on words of people I’ve never heard of, and follow their fingers as they carry and steal innocent piano keys, as if they could truly open locked doors. Though attempted and failed, the insignificant longing trails behind a broken consciousness, wriggling between the wrinkles of time and crevasses of awful brain matter, allowing this to never begin, never continue, and never end.

I think if I should be more aware Of the peeling of a banana, And all its slightly muffled, sticky sounds I could call it music, and Become, myself, a profound cataloger of all things noise. For words are only structured noises, We mold like clay. Well, why don’t we simply reign in The noises that are already out there? We’ll learn the nuances of a peeling banana, Call them words: it is a banana saying, I’m peeling. We’ll call them poems, call them song. The sound of a cardboard coffee cup, for instance, Gently returned to a desk after sipping Multiplied by a classroom of Caffeinated percussionists would be Aptly called an avant-guard symphony! And I perhaps, A modern-day maestro, conductor at the front of the room Flapping my arms to the beat, up, down! Up-down! –Only pausing To write down the tum-tum-tum, furiously capturing this rhythm On paper for future readers to come. But I fear, it is in this act of writing it down, that The banana forgets how it sounds, Or I forget to sound the banana, and It all starts to become a sort of cacophonous din of Slurping children, left by the wayside by the Education system and adopted by Starbucks, Who doesn’t serve this sort of poem. So we must market this to the young folks; It will be a movement of ultimate vintage-chic, (Recalling the days of our wordless hairy brethren, Who could only rely on grunts and noise)                        To imagine Man without clothing is possible,                        But Man without poetry is simply absurd.

We visited an art museum today “The Guggenheim” with it’s white spiraling architecture I felt slightly cultured as I flipped through a book detailing an artist whose last name I vaguely recall started with a Q Conveniently forgetting the very reason for my presence in that room being to charge my phone Feeling educated as I recognize the names Matisse, Lautrec from my brief intro to art history courtesy of our overly enthusiastic design teacher Basking in my elegance, taking petit little bites, of a macaroon in a cafe outside the museum ...Before noisily slurping my blood red ice tea

Creased felines crossing lines, Pressing claws into dust. Western hemisphere, Reviving the pilgrimage. Bubbles and logs Satiate their under garments. Enhancing hair follicles Resembling shards and spurs. At a woodsy bar, A tabby liberated the fangs He rented last holiday. The bartender shook with perplexity. Reacting simultaneously- A minor character, Little Leon. The dusty town called him Leon, for he was alone. Little Leon got taller In a basement full Of water. The dusty town Was an adjustment. The tabby and Little Leon Faced off for recognition. Leon wretchedly charged The floor boards with sopping ends. Crayon versus colored pencil; They chose their weapons Anxiously.  It was Bring your son to work day. The bent bartender Spared his child’s eyes. “I’m not your little boy,” The child shrilled at him. “I don’t want trains, Or fake guns meant for play. I miss my mom, And dresses on Sunday.” Cats on a pilgrimage, Rarely stop from Slurping a drink. Pity refilled Cups, as tails twitched in trial. The tabby and Leon Came to a halt, seeing as Punishment was engraved atop The bartender’s grungy mitts. The clowder gathered, As the Tabby scolded the man Behind the bar. “Remember where you leave your beverage.” And that was that. Leon’s internal complexity, Being left with only himself, Dissipated. There are others Who feel more alone. Tabby picked up his crayon. His spurs clanked And spun, as his guided His feline friends out the front. Tumbleweed skidded Outside the bar. The bartender finally saw That his son was not a son.

Role Theory
Barry’s dead. I saw you dying weeks ago; An oyster shell turned empty can, Scrumpled up and finished By the past’s magnet attraction In your shakey hands. It’s just a habit now and you can hardly kick yourself. Buckets of Grolsch: My swash-buckling hero Turned slosh-slurping zero once again And shiny surfaces Never suited you. Scrub away at that black demon matter With the sole white spirit Your genius affords. A shattered socialist Posy primrose ****** That’s the story of your life – All most man. Now beneath the cowslips And the heifer’s hooves, Your saintly-thorny words without a roof: But who will speak for you? And trawl the depths As you once did in youth? Prizing open oysters… I hope that where you are Your silence brings relief. I hope that where you are You smell the borage breeze. I hope that where you are There’s ox-cheek for tea And your carbonated past Is carbonating in mute peace. Tonight the argent stars Are dulled in disbelief Tonight the slate that you’ve carved Is the hardest you will teach. Tonight the tumblestones Are falling down in grief: For Barry’s gone to rediscover Pearl And the beauty of her peace.

Rediscovered Pearl
Matilda listens to make sure they’ve gone out knowing Mr Doozie the cat is licking his milk the slurping sound fills the now silent room but she has to be sure her aunt and uncle have gone she can’t allow Moses to come in by the backdoor until they’re long gone and in the town buying and selling their wares she places her hands on her head and closes her eyes to focus her listening to close out Mr Doozie’s sounds the saucer of milk being pushed across the floor the purring but she cannot hear them now cannot hear their voices can’t hear Auntie’s whines and Uncle’s bellows can’t smell Uncle’s pipe or the aroma of his farts or Auntie’s sour body odour and sniffs the air and puts one leg up on the chair and lets the skirt fall back revealing her fine thigh and underwear something for Moses to see and get excited about not that he needs any encouragement especially after the last time he came around when her aunt and uncle had gone off for the day to market on the old bus and Moses had sneaked in the back door his eyes peering around the door and she saying They’ve gone out you can come in and he did and while Mr Doozie sat on the end of the bed watching disinterestedly Moses had kissed her all over her body and after games of foreplay he’d entered her with subtleness and moved in a slow motion so that the bed only moved and rattled slightly and did not disturbed Mr Doozie and they had only just dressed and was letting Moses out the back door when Auntie came in the front door followed by Uncle with his arms laden with shopping and moaning about the prices and the shop girls and how there is no manners anymore and she feeling Moses’ ***** easing down her thigh and stood there with her innocent stare but this time Moses would need to be quicker as they had only gone to town and wouldn’t be long and if they returned earlier and caught her and Moses undressed and ******* with Mr Doozie sitting watching she doesn’t know what they’d say or do although knowing Uncle he’d chase off Moses with his walking stick and tan her hide until she cried and cried but Moses hasn’t come and she listens out hushing Mr Doozie with a shush shush and scratches her thigh and strains her ears was that him? She sighs opening her eyes sitting up looking towards the door waiting anticipating feeling the body’s urge the body’s need wanting Moses to come through the door and hurry with her up the stairs followed no doubt by Mr Doozie and quickly ********** and into her bed and setting aside the kissing and messing get on with the ******* but the door remains closed the room is almost silent apart from Mr Doozie’s licking and purring and the soft tick tocking of the grandfather clock and her heart thumping boom boom boom boom like a small drum all around the room and inside her head and she disappointed frustrated with no *** with Moses just a small empty bed.

I am the creamy glass of milk you've stolen from the easterners gods you're hastily slurping down "for my own good". Willing myself to turn sour in your mouth. Begging you to spit me out, because I'd rather be anywhere other than splashing around your rotten yellowed teeth. Mindful of the approaching date you've slapped on my side, robbing me of my cured potential, so rich and golden. As I'm sliding down your throat I cheers to hoping I curdle your stomach, like you've curdled mine.

Lactose Intolerant
Dawn stretches and yawns in yellow, poking fingers through vertical blind slats; into my horizontal eyes. Startling like an ice cube slipping down spine, painful and exhilarating at the same time and maybe I’m not ready to shove myself out. Let me be metamorphic for awhile, lie back in this brightness and soak it in; let me radiate warm throughout the morning, cheerfully light at noon and erode to dust in the night so that it all may cycle again like moon chasing sun, serpent slurping tail or a dog whirling circles in the dirt. I want to swirl, right here in comfortable cotton, nighttime peace and the wreath that early Dawn weaves into me. Let me be centered in the centrifuge: the stone in the storm.

Pebble Round
The absorbent two-ply quilted southern sky was soaking up the pre-dawn rays as we were pushing our broken green four-wheeled machine southbound on Bruce B. Downs taking up the curbside lane Our shirts were becoming stained with humid profanities despite the fan blade traffic throwing a slight breeze We were slurping brackish blacktop steam from the air plodding like the Hillsborough toward our destination My mind was already sauntering back toward a broken green futon sitting in the section-eight, eviction evaded, apartment Out the window cross-bred ducks were lording over scrawny, pseudo-feral worm host cats for which the knockabout neighbors kept a litter box outside

The Hell with the Rabbits; All I See Are Gray Squirrels
dense, warm air and sticky grins were prominent during those sunny summer days tripping over our friends and muffled laughter grass stained shorts and muddy fingernails wet, curly locks of dark hair and bare feet squishing against the grass kids are known to be careless a big bowl of fresh strawberries is placed onto the plaid blanket spread across the prickly grass blades and we shoved our hands in quickly to see who could get the huge strawberry in the middle first some blades of grass stuck right through the blanket and poked our legs hard enough to make it sting but it didnt phase us neither did our grimy hands as we devoured the delicious fruit. we were messy kids. the juice dripped down our arms, creating a translucent river of rosy red juice you licked yours up but i stared at mine, intrigued as the river followed my veins and settled in the crooks of my bent elbow i couldnt resist slurping it up eventually though strawberries were always my favorite several years later it isnt the same the red river dripping down my arm, following my veins and settling in my bent elbow didnt taste the same as the sweet strawberries of summertime. the gashes on my arm werent from an intense game of tag with a friend or from rolling around in the grass too roughly these gashes were more than just booboos mommy couldnt kiss these and make them all better mommy couldnt make them disappear i couldnt make them disappear i made them appear they are here to stay, and not some sticky juices from a summertime delight they were sticky juices from a wintertime despair. a twisted mind a long sleeved hoodie in 90 degree weather a sad excuse as to why it was a hoodie instead of a t shirt or a tank top a bit lip to hold back the tears a friend who tried their hardest, but couldnt notice and brushed it off a forever tainted mind whenever someone offers me strawberries i take them, even if i am filled to the brim or sick of strawberries altogether because maybe if i overdose on strawberries my mind will blur and all the memories of the thick, dark red river of wintertime despair will all become replaced with strawberry juice and i will wake up and it will have been nothing but a fever dream.
