She's in a constant state of comfort, pure bliss
Knowing she wouldn't be pricked by a thorn,
If it wasn't for the smell of rizq colouring His roses

She's in a constant state of purity
As His clouds turn into heavy storms above her head
Gently rinsing away the bad, returning her only for the good

She's in a constant state of obedience,
As gratefully awake she is
Her eyes let go of tears with utmost ease
Honoured, they fall and sink into the lowest of grounds
Only to join His droplets of rain, humble, in their firmest sujood

On this park bench, the woman was devouring silence. The night landed in the black of her eyeballs. So dark. The lines of her face combine the flowers of sadness

When the soft moonlight shone, his heart was still bruised without stopping
squeeze the deepest wound
her tears are like rain

Smashing, slashing a smile

Piercing, drowning hope

Cold cold heart
Frozen plumage
Like a peacock
Her ladyship
In the campfire light
Skating about the pond
Of her own vanity

A girl
A girl who needed help to learn how to handle her emotions
A girl who was told he was disrespectful when she expressed anger or sadness or fear
A girl who learned to shut up and cry alone
A girl who loved to dance on stage and look pretty and be happy so she stopped telling people when she wasn’t

A teen
A teen who was angry about why she had to move to a new home and a new school
A teen who wanted to do good but also knew things weren’t right at home
A teen who couldn’t tell anyone how she felt because she was always wrong when she did
A teen who found a boy who had no problem telling her what to feel and how to think and what to do

A young woman
A young woman who listened to the boy and decided to grow with him under his direction
A young woman who tried her hardest to do the right thing but knew something was wrong and she needed to make a change
A young woman who was offered a bottle, a line, a pill, and felt better for a while
A young woman who saw death stare at her in the face when his hands were around her neck
A young woman who decided to make a change
A young woman who left it all behind

A woman
A woman who was lost and scared and alone for a long time
A woman who made new friends little by little
A woman who rebuilt her life little by little
A woman who now has a career, a stable life, and a good man
A woman who can see a healthy future ahead
A woman who is still working on feeling safe when she is vulnerable
A woman who is a work in a progress

Sway me as the drink numbs my knees
the way you hold, the demons that she tamed
in perfect motion,
in every rhythm she carries me
a dance worth recording.

Finally, my woman
my every piece of new beginnings.

She is a fallen woman
from the Holy Sea,
a broken sample
from the Fairlight,
dressed in whispers and vines.

The wretched wind
says many things to her:
"lament no more over
your emptied ******...
follow the glum west end sky
to the treasures of America."

Her intangible items
go first: two figurines,
two tin daughters
travelling with the wild dogs,
asleep in the backseat,
kept as contraband
until she pays with
coral, jade and pearls.

But ******'s
in her veins, telling her
the kids will keep,
as she slips beyond
the black rainbow
and into 'paradise'.

Girls dream maidenly

of saving the man they love --

They are dangerous.

To be a woman, in today’s world,
that stretches into the writing of a tomorrow’s world,
a world that feels so absolute in its reckoning
feels like a mountain that cannot be climbed.
I pray that you find some sliver of beauty
in the moonlight that chases you,
and the stars that kiss your forehead
when you sleep with your big dreams.
I pray you don’t let those dreams flow off your palms
into a river stream when this world threatens you with its cold air
You hold onto them tightly
because even with their singular light
the shadow you leave behind,
so big and strong – a fearless fighter
you stretch into the writing of your world
and your light brings me to write of you
in awe.
