A new year
A new beginning
It starts with fire.
Fire
That's all you see.
I see my house burning
In front of my eyes
Ripping away piece by piece
Diminishing into the flames.
I see my friends getting hurt
Smoke suffocting them.
They don't know what to do
They can't run or hide.
I hear my family crying;
Our home is fading
We have no where to go.
For you it's just trees.
For me it's home.
It's my food.
It's my living.
Everything is taken away from me
Yet you cry for your loss.
My entire Species is going extinct.
One by one they burn
Along with their house
they vanish into the flames.
This is too painful for me.
I have nothing to cling onto
I have no family to call.
I'm just a homeless runt.
This is written from the koala point of view.
25 people died.
We lost 1 billion of animals.....

Epitomizing
smoldering canopies,
rampant greed did this.

I'm not competing with you any longer.

I can't keep up with your tricks;
you lost my love like you lose your temper
Hardly at first, then rapid like wildfire.

The wild fire that I was once compared to
it now runs through your every action with them
And burns our bond to the ground, little by little.

I'm not competing with you any longer.

I can't support your insecurities any more
than you can pretend not to see mine.
My heart breaks, but you all step on the pieces.

I'm not competing with you any longer.

Stay if you want. Leave if you don't.
I won't care any more.
I've cut my heart out for you and burned it
In the fire you once compared me to
The passion that once burned in me
I'll rekindle it for someone else.

I'm done competing with you.
Bloodstained sunrise
Slices through deep blues,
Pushing aside shimmering jewels
Lighting the way for grey ghost wisps,
Listless drifters warning those around
That red claws grip the earth
Dragging death in their wake
With all the wildfires spreading around the US and Canada right now, I was inspired by the red-orange sunrise this morning.

Air thick with the suns glow
As grass once green is scorched into brown
Birds wade in dust that was once liquid blue
Amongst the dead of the sea
Summer’s here

Heat hits land like a hammer blow
As ancient trees push roots deep into ground
Thirstily looking for the trapped liquid dew
As birds shade under crumbling leaves
Here’s summer

In the shadow of a mountain weeping ice
Red dancing fingers race across a dying meadow
Roaring in delight as the life is eaten
Its blackened breath rises up into a cloudless sky
Summer’s here

Where is the rain to release us from this burning vice?
Where is the hail, where is the snow?
Where are the storm clouds, to cover this murderous sun?
They are lost forever under this climate of change
Here is Summer.

I want
To fall in love with someones smile
To swoon under their gaze
To become dizzy with their touch

I want
To crave someone like an addiction
To nestle up to their warmth
To get an adrenaline rush from their scent

I want
To hold them and never let go
To tell them how much I love them everyday
To keep discovering them like it's my personal quest

I want
To give them my heart
To love them for all that they are
To keep them from the tainted world

I want
But what can I do with these contaminated hands?
How dare I try to hold them close with these hands of mine flowing thick with lies?
To tell them sweet nothings with my corrupted tongue?

My love
Is like a wildfire
Sudden, quick, and innocent
Without my permission my little spark turned into a flame
And consumed everything that contained a letter in your name

My love
Is like a wildfire
Untamed, ephemeral, and dangerous
It destroys all it touches,
Breaking barriers, burning bridges
It envelopes everyone in its warmth leaving no option but to run or turn to ash

Beware of my wildfire love
You cannot leave unscathed
I leave a scar

Beware of my wildfire, love
Because I'll burn enough for us both
I'll keep you warm on cold nights and dry on rainy days
I will set your heart ablaze and love you with all the force of my wildfire

Beware of my love,
It can't be forgotten nor replaced
This is the first time posting a poem on here as I am a new member, I hope whoever stumbles upon my work enjoys and relates!
Living in your head
Is like living in a maze
Of wildfire;
Thoughts never stop, but they burn.
I wish I never stepped in.
I was low key inspired by a Zemfira song called “To Live in Your Head”
