I'm sitting on a beach away from home
Waves rolling gentle as the breeze
The green tide of Evergreens flow below
A glowing orange sky as the sun falls asleep

My body sits motionless
While my soul dances in the mirror
The feeling of something so bliss
I've never seen life any clearer

Staring at the waves wishing, washing
Telling me secrets from down deep
Clear, crisp spring water dancing
In total blackness is a treat

Stars floating around in the liquid universe
Begging me to jump in and explore
Like when you stare into the night sky
And feel your body lifting off the floor

The tides move in and set me adrift in your love once more. The waves crash back and forth, synchronizing in perfect harmony. When I look at you, there are depths hidden in your beauty. Who are you? You are a treasure. Hidden beneath, you are the ocean; the epitome of mystery.

A breath of fresh air,
is your kiss.

Your title wave crashes
upon my distant shore,
as my winds blow
towards your foaming roll,
I am caught in between
your crashing tides.

Our passionate embrace
devours time,
leaving us with unspoken words,
and meaningful structure,
it builds a foundation
that can hold up to
our chaotic emotions.

Lovers side by side
Watching the sunset
feeling the tide
Makes me think of holidays in
Broom beautiful sunsets
"No!" - He protested
Yes, he had said that she was like lightning,
but he meant that she startled him
with her randomness
and thunder,
and not that she pulsated
writing a spiderweb
into the nights sky;
it was that she filled him with a certain
nervousness...
and no, that nervousness was not
like an electricity.

And while the argument continued
it was brought up that he had also compared her to a storm.
It wasn't because she climbed with a certain
inexorable quality
like the tides
or that she was the perfect mix
of calm pretense
and wuthering looks.

It was more because she reminded him of the rains
lightly dancing on his bedroom window
making him dream.

I drank the sea
No one was watching but me
The salt crystallised my bones
But the water made me free
Shells covered my lips and eyes
Seaweed lay as hair
And slid down throat
Sand layered like skin
Pages of a diary
Formed by waves on waves
I smelt of fish
And open air
I raged all over
Threw my spitting hands to the sun
Let it evaporate away my sins
I tossed my hair to the wind
And danced pebbles as my feet
I rolled with the tide
Tossed here and there
Fishermen tried to ****** parts of me
But I eluded them
Flowed ever faster to the shores
Picked men from rocks and threw them back
Sank deep and long
swam out again, to the deep
I rolled with whales
sifted krill through my teeth
tumbling currents rinsed my skin
Quick-silver flashing in my belly
coast to coast I roamed and rushed
and as the darkened tide turned,
I slipped out again to the deep
not content to walk when I could *swim

sunshine lingers land
over receding tides
seashells on the sand
carring the ocean within
with a warm gentle touch
there silent whispers unfold
held to my ear I listen
as a beautiful story is told

At dawn on my twenty fifth birthday
416 pilot whales beached themselves,
in the shallow tides at Farewell Spit.

I woke to rain on the wooden roof
of my new flat
and confused myself in unfamiliar blankets and
the words of your message,
written heartfelt and wobbly
in the early hours before morning,

caught in the marine ebb and flow,
that stranded us too.
