I saw her in my dream last night
Silhouetted against the moonlit sky
Dissolved in the aura of the moon
She asked me if I wished to fly.

Her magic warmed my rustic soul
Deep musings came to life, encore
She swayed her hands to heal my heart;
Together we’d fly or fall apart.

To all the great powers that be
Grant me a pair of wings to see
What lies above the bright blue sky
I wish to fly, I wish to fly.

I’ve titled this poem as Silhouette because it was triggered by this very beautiful word. Silhouette… such a beautiful word!!

I brought her to the hospital
And I know she is in pain
She says she’ll die today
But I know she’d sustain.

As painful it may be
As fearsome it may seem
My legs are shaking deep inside
I can hear her Scream.

You’d say I can’t feel the pain
She says its life threatening
I believe she’ll do it well
This moment of awakening.

The Doctor consoles her gently
The nurses prepare the room
My heart beats fast, yet sinks a bit
My baby is about to bloom.

I watch the process in silence
My heart is aching slow
The Doctor asks her to push
Our Child will make Her Glow.

Its a Girl and She’s beautiful
I heard the Doctor say
Everyone knows I cried
Saying Happy Mothers’ Day!!

P.S: I wrote this in the labor room while watching my wife give birth to our Daughter. It took me about 5 to 7 minutes to write till the second last stanza. I wrote the last stanza after seeing my newborn baby. My Daughter is my Universe!!

She moved her feet to nature’s tunes
Dancing in chorus of the rain
She flew with the rhythm of the wind
And lightning added to the frame

My monsoon muse got drenched in rain
While she danced in ethereal sprees
The peacocks danced along with her
And so did the mighty trees.

Inspired by the early rains 😁

The raging river tears apart
Mighty Himalayas’ sturdy frame
It pierces the mountain’s rocky heart
Burgeons, to fertilise the plains.

The mist conspires with the clouds
To pour down on the foothills weak
Which crumble across the hilly terrain
To break the traveller’s winning streak.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~1~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The valiant king rode across
A perilous mountain pass, which
Led to a mystic who could
Dispel the chance of death at war.
He roved along the rough terrain
Through rows of shuddering pine
His journey had no sojourn till
He'd drink the elixir wine.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~2~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The sage lived in a far flung place
Amidst mountains old as time
In that ancient talismanic cave
He reached his spiritual prime.

No man had ever seen the sage
Yet stories had been told, of those
Who sipped that miracle wine
And rose above their woes.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~3~~~~~~~~~~~~
The king kneeled down before the sage
To narrate his woes through prayer
Then said, pour thy mercy, my Lord,
For my nation's in despair.
The gory war's killed umpteen men
My army faces defeat
Bless and save my people, O Lord!
For the enemy won't retreat.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~4~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The sage looked at the distressed king
Whose heartbeats had sunken low
For only the saint's miracle
Could help him fight the foe.

The sage did cast a magic spell
Pressed the ruler's armour of steel
Then said go back and fight my king
Triumph, and help your nation heal.

She held a heap of firewood
Atop her tender head
Walking down the narrow road
That led to her hamlet.

That old banyan tree couldn't
Allure her with its shade
Nor the burning sideways
Could force her pace to jade.

No sign of sorrow, grief or pain
As quiet as she could be
Would death alter her calm
Or would it set her free.

The lovelorn waves sang sorrow's songs
While sailors grieved 'bout homeland far
For eyes couldn't see that distant place
Where sun shines bright and night has stars.

As drowning sun was bleeding red
The lovelorn waves sang sorrow's songs
'Bout Mothers ailing far away
And children weeping in dismay.

The horizon at distance glowed
While winds convulsed the sailors' hearts
The lovelorn waves sang sorrow's songs
When twilight welcomed the North Star.

The bright full moon propelled the tides
Which gave the ships new lease of life
As sailors left the shores in haste
The lovelorn waves sang sorrow's songs.
