I write to praise my fear
I write to numb my wounds
I write to hide my shame
I write to fill my voids
I write to console my heart
Which has a cavity
I feel every night
Before sleep sedates me
I write like a fighter
I fight like a writer
Words are vines
And my hands
My winepress
Makes the best wine
That levitates me
And makes you feel fine.
You're not alone!
Through pain and misery.
Write On, Ride On And Tell your Tale
MacKenzie Warren Jul 2018
i've always hated my middle name
lacking in individuality
a commonplace name
given to half the girls in my graduating class
it never sounded right
it never seemed like it fit
it didn't feel like it belonged to me
that is until you started to use it
my first name foreign to your lips
and somehow it made flowers grow around my rib-cage
restricting my lungs, causing me to catch my breath
in a good way
it made my cheeks rosy
for when you uttered those 5 letters
it sounded like wind chimes
a hummingbird's wings
my heart matching the rhythm
53 beats per second
for it was something no one else called me
a name far from unique
but you made it sound beautiful
you made it charming
a gesture so endearing

I am so thankful,
so grateful that you look at the good in me.

I appreciate it.
That you chose to see and focus on what I did right.

You focused on that one thing I did right.
That one thing I have done right.
You didn't rehearse all that I have done wrong.
You didn't do that.
You were angry, yes, but not for long.

You saw the good in me.
Anf you chose to focus on it.
I might have rebelled against you, hated you and hissed at you.
But when I came home to you, you ran towards me.
Kissing me all over.
Happy that I have come back home to you.

Thank you.
Truly I say thank you.
Thank. You.
thank you, God. For looking at what I do right and you didn't rehearse all that I have done wrong in your eyes.

We all have a knife on our hands, bound to destroy, steal and plunder.
You couldn't say that you would never hurt another.
Trust me, you will. Whether you know it or not.
This knife can do many wonders, as well as be a curse for many.
We are all broken, lost and weak.
We are all destroyers, in one way or another,
once at least did you hurt someone with the sword in your mouth
and with the gun in your hands.
We all are bound to hurt another.
Use it for life, or to spell out death.
Well, I choose the latter.
That's the best.
I actually don't know what to call this ( o - o)
Please do give me some feedback! Would love to learn from others!

When the armies rise, and I am scared,
you stand by my side, holding me in.

When I couldn't feel you around,
you whisper to my heart that you are with me, close within.

When fear and terror comes my way when death and darkness comes, I will not be afraid. For you are holding me by your side. Holding my heart tightly as they come by.
Thank you, God :)

Thank you, God, for being here for me when I needed you.
Thank you, God, for saving me from eternal death and suffering.
Thank you, God, for saving me.
Thank you, God, for being my high priest and my peace.
Thank you, God, for loving me. Even after all I have done and all the times when I simply didn't follow you. Even in times of disobedience, you loved me. And you still do.
Thank you, God, for giving me chance after chance after chance.
Thank you, God, for not giving up on me.
Thank you, God, for simply being here with me, for being here for me.
Thank you, Jesus, for dying on the cross, even though you didn't have to.
this is a thank you card to God. He has really done a lot for me and it just doesn't hurt to thank God for what he has done for me.
A Simillacrum May 2018
The battery mostly empty sends less power through
the act. The art of you. The heart of you.
I've heard the drums since I was a child.
Music sent from my futures unseen,
to touch me young with destiny.
Lowest now I've ever been in the pit,
the place to which ashes descend,
I know the movie must play to the end,
but I'll send back honesty and a meager providence
sealed with well wishes and love hidden in the frames.
Best believe in watching me I know your names.
Cyber ink is always bleeding through the screen,
writing me a list of beautiful, infinite minds.
Reading it back aloud recharges my mystic energies.
I take a deep breath before my return to form
then open my lungs for the dive.
If I drown in you, let it come.
I'll stretch it out though,
as I want to cherish the heights of
beauty lacking in me that I see for the future in you.
When the moment comes I'll show the tribunal
the heart of rebellion as I learned it through
the audience in their seats.
The spider shall rest for the weaving
as the suspicious oracle returns.

Dear love,
Every time I think of you, I can't help but thank you in my head,
Thank you for all those bitter sweet memories you gave me,
Thank you for all those moments you spared for me,
Thank you for each time
You looked at me and smiled
Like I was an art to behold,
Thank you making me feel like I deserved love,
Thank you.
Maybe, our happily-ever-after
Wasn't meant to be,
At all.
Maybe, our meant-to-stays
Were here to say
Goodbye.
Maybe, all we were,
Was a chapter,
Meant to be
Closed.
Thank you.
You left,
But the pain still lingers,
And it always will.
Thank you.
Yours, once-upon-a-time,
Love.
Thank you.

Hello, Poetry?
have you come to save me?
take me in your sweet, painful grasp
rip open my heart and soul
and let them drip on the dim screen
of my phone at 1 a.m.

thank you for the sweet release
of emotions that gathered
like flocks of birds
inside my head

my anxiety haunts
the 100+ poems i’ve made
but that’s better
than my head instead

i’ve fallen in love
with spilling words
even though sometimes
it hurts
so thank you
Hello, Poetry
This has been such a help to my health

as poets
thank the pain
thank the sorrow
for it gives you something to write about

as poets
don't take the beautiful moments for granted
don't be afraid of happiness
because that too is something to write about

as poets
appreciate everything life throws at you
