You are like an mosquito.
In the night, you keep me awake.
Sorry for bad grammar:)

They moved along the expanse of my back,
Nipping my skin here and there.
No matter how hard I tried it happens each night.
Wait, I was talking about those
"Bed Bugs".
What'd you think?
Lol, I know. That just came out of nowhere

Why couldn't I fall asleep last night?
Maybe I just didn't wanna really
miss out on all of the juicy spoils
that yesterday offered as benefits.
Or maybe it is just the sheer
anticipation and uncertainties
of tomorrow that scared sleep away.
Darkness is no more, summer is soon here.
So I lay there sleepless and wide awake,
listening to the sounds of the wind
lazily flipping the blinds against the window.
Outside, the occasional sounds of the
the first barrage of the night crickets echos.
I begin to wonder what it is to be a cricket.
How sweet to live on grace provided by God,
and how free to fly without any limitations.
I was jolted back to reality by a sound,
maybe it was insomnia quietly creeping out.
Or the challenges of tomorrow moving in.
Tired red eyes squinting to see from whence
cometh the unknown but welcomed sound,
I saw nothing but I knew I heard something.
So I waited for clarity of the sound source,
thereafter heard nothing further in the room.
I was quite as though a ghost had passed.
Slowly, I began to drift, the elusive sleep was here.

Sleepless nights can become productive nights.

flickering lights
loud noises – songs of sparkling youth
bodies all around

deep in the crowd
i'm looking for you
the voice in my mind seeks the one in yours

– and i don't know –

minutes pass
i'm watching you in the haze
dazzled, you're so lost inside

– and i don't know tomorrow you'll –

leather jackets
ocean eyes of yours looking right through me
your laugh: drunk and deep waves

later: you've fallen to pieces
and you still stand
i hold your hand without you noticing it: care

– and i don't know, that tomorrow you'll say –

leaving is the hardest part
you turn up and
it starts with an easy 'bye'

it feels like i was high
when you'd shake my hand and i pull you close
heartbeats to heartbeats

your fingers on my back
i shutter: tiny, little words
your smile: wilderness

– and i don't know, that tomorrow you'll say
that you caught my words when i told you
not to drink anymore tonight –

– that's how we remember –

Why do the dark nights seem darker,
when you are all alone? I do not have the answer.
It's as if loneliness tangles its' frayed fingers around your hair,
and encompasses you like a sand storm.
It seems as though there's not much hope of escaping this endless nightmare.

You carved your lips
Into my skin
Leaving the marks
I treasure
I worship
The most precious gift
I'll ever receive
blushing prince Mar 2019
clear gloss lipstick, sweet and see through
like you are, like you could be
like being in that 99 cent store for the first time all over again
and you can smell sour watermelon and plastic
all about the glitter packaging and all the different flavors could be the paths you decide to take one day
in seafoam t-shirts and tattered sneakers that bite at your heel
until it's the color of pink taffy but when you touch it something
bursts and you decide that skin is your favorite ***** afterall
you pass by the glitter and the fake flowers but waste your cents
instead in aspirins for your mother
but you steal those chips and that drink too and call it benevolence that you don't get caught
and you never will because you get what you give

last night
I fell in
love
instead of
asleep.
