Nothing but bad news anyway
What will people die of today?
Buried in rubble after an earthquake?
Thrown from a car driven by a drunk?
Or cut up and thrown in the river
Or lost in the snow storm to shiver
And never find a way home
But die alone
Or be trapped in a city of millions
As a virus multiplies by billions
Infecting
Incubating
Mutating
Killing
Nothing but bad news anyway
And it’s set to get worse they say

Oh won’t you stop dwelling on the misery
And look on the bright side?
That guy was convicted of his crime
Yeah but his daughter died
That baby was found and cared for
Yeah but first he was abandoned
Those kittens were rescued from the ice
But they suffered before they were found
That child was pulled out alive
Yeah but her parents lay buried
The virus is only killing a small percentage
Yeah but we need to be worried
Yeah there are positives
But come on, you can’t hide
From reality, perpetual misery
Is the flip side of the bright side
Sorry I’m a pessimist
Chapter One.

Taste the crap fully.
The corn eyes comatosed....
stuck
In between the folds of mash potato like obedience.
Fuckery makes hate great again.
The horrible rift established by
Religiously intolerant thetoric.
Reacting becomes classic.
Suffocation slowly creeps in and becomes expected.
The silence becomes tragic,
as the first amendment is shredded  into nothingness.
And soon the corn eyes begins to multiply,
as stinking crap blinds the dreams of its corn fed yellow eyes.
Remember, fake news like corn never sits well in the tummy.
Comes out at the other end.
Brown chunky oatmeal,
with corn eyes wide open looking stuck upon the mountains and mountains
of left over **** traffic coming to a sudden halt.
Where is lady liberty?
My original democracy loving tv dinner Mommy.
Who knows....
This is the diary of zombie corn eyes.

Next Week....
Chapter Two.
When a new jacking off tax becomes a liability for those professionals tryimg to make money off their favorite part time hobby.

The erosion of commonsense and freedom of speech
William A Poppen Feb 2020
When looking for
a perfect phrase
to describe
communication today

Not just in politics
not just in advertising
nor just in social news
or just in entertainment
consider mendacious propaganda

Mendacious the adjective
With many synonyms
For telling lies

Put together with propaganda
One has a shell bomb
A barn-burner of a phrase
For spreading rumors,
Passing on false information
And trying to influence others

Mendacious propaganda is like
A morning misting settling on the grass
Dew blankets everything
Likewise information
Fake is called real
Real is called fake
Newspapers have
A column to check the fakes
To tell you which print
You might trust
Today, Truth, lies, news

Where were you when they assassinated Mark Zuckerberg?
I was having a crap and using Facebook
I was promoting this book in ****** groups
The ******* blocked me from posting
Because my book is a rude one
Full of well written adult poems
Which feature varied *** and intimacy
I guess my book isn’t for the Zuck
So **** the Zuck and all he stands for
I won’t miss him or his smug ways
I read that his death was a slow one
And that they cut off his *****
Then r*ped his **** wife and shot her
It said she enjoyed the ***
But don’t believe all you read
Is the Zuck really dead?
**** him and his site
I’m off for a beer

I was caught up in the usual daily wrangle
for my attention among the images and stories
on my phone and the computer’s tangled
tries for some small measure of life’s glories.

Then I looked up from the bright screen
and saw the long elegant leaf lit by the sun.
The tributaries of its mysterious green
softened and focused me from many to one.

I lost my crazy mind in this living blade
and found this poem waiting there for me
in the simple power of its now where I stayed
for a tender eternal moment in its joyous jade sea.

Between the lines
Of the evening news
Sadness spreading
Attacks, earthquake
Fire and accidents

This can’t be my Home
Let us pray together
I wish this to end
Going back to loving us
And caring about Mother Earth

News is depressing
Are the state of things that bad
Waiting for some change

A bird in the hand
Is worth a whole slew
In the Australian bush
The World Wildlife Fund in Australia estimates that as many as 1.25 billion animals may have been killed directly or indirectly from fires that have scorched Australia. The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Australia, the nation's leading animal welfare charity, is accepting donations to fund the rescue and treatment of animals affected by the fires. RSPCA chapters in New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland and South Australia are accepting donations.

Always being flirted with
While others never get noticed
Standing out in densely gathered crowds
The highs were way above and beyond
Even the mightiest and highest of the clouds
The shine would never ever leave
My newly found and now world famous face
But, it takes lots of **** hard work
If wanting to stay in Hollywood’s first place
Never liked to be the runner up
Only ever winning, at any sort of race
Paparazzi snapping, tabloids exaggerating
For what’s its actually worth
One more bit of bad gossip mongering
They could bring anyone, back down to earth.

He wondered if he had
A nose for news,
'Cause it was always breaking.

So he opted for
Surgery instead,
Only to find himself
The talk of the town.

Now that's nothing
To sniff at!
