Title.        Never take for granted
the greatest power, the power to choose.
                ( An Acrostic ) of 50 lines.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Never take for granted the greatest power.
             The power to choose !
Every concession,or subsidy in whatever form
       As a contribution or donation to charity
Value this as a highest prize , volition is the
   Sacred power to choose ,use that power well
Efficacy empowering the production of results
   By marching forward in a positive direction
Ranges of choices sometimes oh so wide as to
   Make a decision very difficult indeed.
Two equally ,typically undesirable alternatives
     We get to know typically as a dilemma
An act of choosing to take up one option as
     Opposed to another to maintain momentum
Knowing that there’s no apparent option rather
   than the real , you have “Hobson’s choice”
Embarras de richesses you become spoilt for
     Choice, is the other side of the coin.
From the comparison betwixt the humble poet
      And the power hungry “Megalomaniac,
Optimising in an act of choosing between the
  two, voluntary ,of one’s own free will Choose
Rights to act or judge by your power of choice
   you may call this discretion,one or t’other
God grants such power as yet unmaterialised
    and unrealised which he labels potential.
Relinquish that potential at your peril
   you may never live to see that choice again
An area of power and influence you may get
    to understand as your domain but reflect
Never take for granted the greatest power,
   the power to choose.
Twitter and chat with all and sundry
    relatives you’re born to, friends you choose
Even if you use your power of wit n influence
   and see it as weight n clout you throw about
Delegate or depute and assign somebody to
    make your choices for you. No don’t quit !
The A to Z of choices takes no time to ponder
    If you take for granted the power to choose
Even by commencing from “A”. Aha . Eureka!
   you have chosen first time lucky .But wait. !
Great though he may appear as the “Boy”
  of your dreams, will he stand the test of time?
Retiring back into your shell ,your”Colleagues“
  At work never choose to know the real you.
Every “Demi-God “or “Elder”that you meet ,
  give respect to ,spoil it all by choosing not to.
An “F” word muttered under your breath .
    A “Gender” question,which choice of path?
To “Hero-worship” then a real life commitment
      “Interpreters “ of choices thru a Drago Man
Established in the art of choice as lead by
  “Jesus” Christ “Knowledge “that it will not fail
Superimposed, will “Liquidise “and blend
    all the choices that are available “Mmmmm”
To the most “Natural “smoothie that you have
   ever chosen to drink. “Ohhhh” yes. !
Pause and “ Pause” again ,do we really under
    stand the power of choice. Procrastinate  !
Oh put off until tomorrow, “Quit” whilst ahead
      “Realise” your winnings in the now.
Weather you “Seek” perfection ,or an easy
    way out . “ Take” heart it is your choice
Ethereal choice becomes the mother of
    invention, when and where necessities dwell
React with an un-earthly prowess and ability
   to establish what was to be the right choice.
The “ Virtual “ choice that you could have
   made under the circumstances, bono-fide.
Having and knowing you have the power
    Of choice, it leaves it in your hands.
Even if you get the choice “Wrong” this time
    it is your mistake , no one else’s
Pretty soon you will know the error and mark
  It with an “X” n strive to get it right next time
Only “You “ have this individual power
   To make up your own mind .You do, don’t you
We can all be as”Zealous “and pedantic as
   You like in life but choices win through .
Even if you can’t be bothered to take the
   Choice to read this poem, on and on and on.
Reacting in a moment of impatience.
  “ what am I doing wasting time reading this?”
To have a power of choice is a valuable power
    not granted to all people of the world.
Oh stay with me ! Tell me that you understand
    the meaning of this poem. Do I make it clear
Can you choose? Do you choose? Are you
   exercising a sacred power that you’re given?
Holy power, not given to timid mice sitting
  on the fence waiting for the right choice
Oh no ! Never take for granted the greatest
    power, the power to choose.
Onlookers and bystanders are you learning
   from any of the simple examples I have set?
See unless you see and understand the good
   and bad choices made by man thru ages .
Earth and the Universe would have failed
  In its quest to provide a Heaven that we seek
Never take for granted the greatest power the power to choose
You have brought back these feelings
Resurfaced those fears
Of the fire inside
that had so many tears
A weak flame that was dying
Alive once again
Has now muddied the line
between lover and friend
That's how it goes for me
I don't know about you
The words passing might be
in that moment were true
They kept traveling on
Possibly a comet
As my feelings grow strong
Expectations not met
Once again feel a fool
Even though it's not true
And my heart gave to you
Time again I will do
But this time not the same
It's because you weren't here
Could not reach out and touch
So our bodies weren't shared
Just the words that were said
And the sound of your voice
Resurrect from the dead
Could not stop; Had no choice
Seems like that's how it is
In your lasso I'm snared
All it takes is one tug
And again I will care
Pilot light to a stove
A slight twist and it strikes
You've invaded my heart
Bursting flame will ignite
But if carelessly handled
It's me who gets burned
Walked all over and trampled
Same dolt who won't learn
I have built up the walls
But we're both trapped inside
The tight space is so small
There's nowhere I can hide
Face-to-face with you now
It begins and it ends
I'll get through it somehow
Are we lovers or friends?
There she goes
Girls file into line
Three by three
Knee length skirts
Down the aisle
Tell me yours and I'll tell you mine
Prayers morning, noon, and night
Careful now, They're prepared to smite
Up the Stairs
Now we dine
And then off to bed
One "lucky" girl gets to practice head
The tallest tower
She's had too much sacramental wine
Hands touched and caressed
And she felt far from blessed
Down she jumps
Touched by filthy swine
"what a horrible disaster"
Her eulogy given by that same pastor
The Devil moves on
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I’m going downhill fast
My goodness I feel hungry
I’m going downhill fast
No meals today n it’s 8:30.
I’m going downhill fast
I guess the next town has a curry
I’m going downhill fast
I could eat a horse n chase the rider
I’m going downhill fast

I’m going downhill fast
Wish it ‘ud just stop raining
I’m going downhill fast
My roof has started leaking
I’m going downhill fast
Oh  a road house neon flashing
I’m going downhill fast
Just made it in n I’m soaking.
I’m going downhill fast

I’m going downhill fast
Went inside to face a dragon
I’m going downhill fast
Ordered coffee and a burger
I’m going downhill fast
Oh and waffles n maple syrup
I’m going downhill fast
Sorry dragon quips kitchen closed at seven.
I’m going downhill fast

I’m going downhill fast
Nothing to eat here I don’t think it funny
I’m going downhill fast
Does it help I’ll give you money
I’m going downhill fast
I told you fella we close at seven
I’m going downhill fast
Drew my gun and shot the ceiling.
I’m going downhill fast

A simple way to tell a story with aliteration of sorts where you can develop a fantasy in as many chapters as you like . It works well with nine lines and five stanzas
Nothing quite captures the, “college feel”
As running,
Almost but not quite,
Late to class,
Several photocopied book pages,
Packets,
Handed out by the professor yesterday,
Tucked in a w shape,
Around your, my, middle ring and pointed pointer finger,
The dark crevasse made by spine height,
Etches a deep rift in the center of a work,
Or a piece,
Or a section,
Making readers take running jumps,
Hands and feet forward,
In order to reach the other side,
With some,
Falling ****** Tunes,
Into the dark lofty abyss.

Maybe I’m the paradox, a reality defying kind of ephemeral, something who stands before but beyond window view.

That’s why you can’t grasp me, I’m more phantom than logic, more feeling than reason, and I think it’s fair assessment

upon my desire to remain rooted. So impossibly the oak stands resolute, a fixture in the howling hurricane, beheld

to the wind, the debris, and the weeping. I have had time to adapt, to grow, to find alternatives, and I stay among concrete

and fettered notions. The truth is, I can wither and curl, or strain to break my hold upon the earth and walk until my last leaf falls.

But what am I without the wind in my branches, and the shade above my roots? What am I without the song you gift me

and the growth you’ve supplied? How dare I entertain an idea of a lack of you when I hold you so dear? Storms shake trees,

but that means nothing when your sun shines– that means nothing for all the good you’ve birthed, even if you can’t fathom

how my limbs reach toward you still.

not so long ago
they made you feel
not so alone

before
the compulsive criteria
of social media

and the claustrophobia
that comes
when you can understand people
but not love them

Now
It sits in a blind corner
like a forgotten foreigner
mentioned in sentences
that start with
"remember back when..."

The lesson of technology is to go with the flow

The lesson of time is in old and fading photos
where you are holding
a landline phone and
pretending to
talk
