Dear Mohammed,
Did you know.
Brits own 8 million dogs and
lavish 10 billion on pets
In Syria this must cause mirth
for its distorted priorities
but in Britain it awakens the soul
to love one’s animals most
It's a companion with few conditions
and reinforces  quaint traditions.
Do you find them funny?

Dear Isaac,
Did you know.
Why the sky is blue
You must have coloured it that way
It isn’t easy explaining but I try
The seven colours of the rainbow is light
Like the ocean it’s made of waves
Blue is the shortest so it’s nearest
Red is the longest so it’s  far behind
Arsenal still beat Chelsea though.
Are you laughing?

Dear Khadija,
Did you know.
You are beautiful and gifted
Bet you were surprised when they said
yes - let the world see your mind
and picture your thoughts
of the dark skinned man and woman
which is the colour of their diversity
When you reduced them to flat shades
Their conflicts became your success
What are you thinking right now?

Dear Mierna, Fatima and Zeinab,
Did you know.
Curling tongs are cool
Confidence is better than looks
Girls are doing better in school
Fifty-six countries had women leaders
Boys prefer curly to straight hair
but Beauty is mostly within
Make up is for the beholder
Smiling eyes are a winner
as a sure sign your heart is open.
Who said smile and the world smiles with you?

Dear Yahya, Firdaws and Yaqub,
Did you know.
Football was born in China
The first club was Sheffield FC
Messi is only five six
The number one rapper is Jay-Z
Your eyes and heart Firdaws
left its mark with its brushes
Inside is a free spirit
that roams across your sketches.
Who is your favourite artist?

Dear Baby Leena and sisters three and five,
Did you know.
Halloween was a Celtic belief
to mark the start of winter
School trips in year 6
can make friendships forever
Fingernails grow faster than toenails
Hair grows at half inch per month
just in case you like them painted
or wanted long locks for fun
You will soon take your first steps.
You cannot wait to run?

Dear Maria,
Did you know.
The home of the Bird of Paradise
is in faraway South Africa
The lotus sacred to Buddhists
is a symbol of hope and peace
Roses adorned Cleopatra
created by Chloris and Aphrodite
Hydrangeas are from the Himalayas
when pink the Beating Heart of Asia.
Do you like flowers?

Dear Jessica,
Did you know.
Australia was born in Dreamtime
onto a land that owned Man
Incas once reigned supreme
In the heights of a mountain
Fish and chips married in 1860
in London by the Bells of Bow
Bruno Mars was number one
but now he is second.
Where would you like to go?

Dear Amayah,
Did you know.
Perrault wrote Cinderella
and Beauty sleeping in the Forest
A princess likes to impress
like a jewel she’s so precious
Rapunzel had very long hair
Snow White very fair skin
Little Mermaid had very sad eyes
The Goat Girl a very clever mind
Would you like to read them all?

Dear Jeremiah
Did you know.
Writing is fun because you connect
with other inquisitive minds
Twenty-eight curved and straight letters
compose Arabic words in a line
The Chinese started before everyone
have characters nine thousand
Whether with a pen or a stick in the sand
No longer are the words confined.
What words will you write first, I wonder?

Dear Mr Councillor
You do know, don’t you?
Isaac has lost his pencil case
Jessica cannot find her tickets
Princess Amaya is looking for her dress
Jeremiah wants some paper
Fatima needs to read the Quran
Maria is desperate to water her plants
Mohammed keeps longing for the Sun and
Khadija is preparing for that accolade.

Forever there is a drought.

You, Mr Councillor, were the outline in their lives
and the shadow in our fears

There's nothing we could have said
No reason to arm ourselves with
No common purpose to bleed them dry, we
Couldn't call them wrong, for that which
We know by the word has meaning only in sensitive minds.
There was no way to tell them
They hurt us, for they knew and
No way to push them back for
Rage was on their side, fear
Ignorance and the gnawing of doubt a terrible wealth of battle for them and
A cotton shield for us, such knowledge cushioning only the shears
We could not stop them with the knowledge that we were right
With the hope of forgetting what tomorrow seemed certain,
They were poised to defend
What little they saw through red lenses what
Crimes they saw committed in the name of justice
Our thorn bush burnt out and
Our knowledge of fresh kindling in seeds of the morrow
Was no use to us, we
Could not stop them.
A comment on all the hatred and ignorance that has repeatedly shown itself - horrible awful departures from what know is right because only the just listen and the just are few

In the darkest of night
Just at the same corner
Hours after,
Along the gutter
Camera shutters

In the darkest of night
At the same corner
A body rests at the arms of his mother

In the darkest of night
Records in the daily newspaper
Death sentenced by the accuser
We will remember
an-extra-judicial-killings piece for and about the philippines
This dream this war this shadow wholly pondered for
Echoes in the Giants well
Begins its have and delves in need
Glistening in breathing drifts
Snow like feathers cast from fingertips
Hunger quaking in the heart of man
Simple deeds reverse this selfish plan
His eyes his mind his deafening signs
All fall
as his hands palm lifts
And seeks the pull of indifference
Shadowed thoughts and mirrored wealth
The tragedy of paradox was never felt
Like this before
And never will again, again
For strength and song the delicate dismisses wrong
The turn of earth her ghostly hair
Lain like shadows over ice and swept with air
Seasons drift and mend the scorn
A Distant world ressurects the storm
For truth and justice I resist
Heaven hides her golden head
For more to leave gone is the guess
Her enshambled riddle pounds of it's fists
In fierce dissection weather strains
Like DNA in cosmic fits
Her tooth all caught on writted skin
The lost majestic rhyme their kin
With hopeless tragic rhythm
Gone the cost of indeterminate freedom
Underneath his school of thought
Lied the angle down and never bought
The answers hidden the code reversed
The second hand believers curse
The tragic thirst for sentenced bans
The belt of stars Orions hands
Truth unsanctified and freely given
Her moon well hides her violent vision
This dream this war this shadow wholly pondered for
Echoes in the Giants well
Begins its have and delves in need
Glistening in breathing drifts
Snow like feathers cast from fingertips

Ribbons of whole heartache leap from the open page of turning tithes. I am sent here in soluable frequency to spire darkness with a spear of light, hoisted high above my sunny head I am turn down the noise and offer you silence with a vengeance to feel. i am unity in overcoming I am selling you hope i am hurried and shushed out I am sore from the shrapnel of life's dark hauntings i AM poised to reflect. I am the shape of something unseen and the likes of me have never been defined. I am Gods own, I am no ones tether or toy. I am hurdles behind, before, and in front I am celebrations of love left to stand in the sun I am not free. I am running for the door with demons to slay I am slippery to grips untame and I believe I am something and someone good and true, and as I wind down this windfall, now who are you?

I wake with tired eyes.
But what are they tired of?
Tired of life, the horrors and injustices in this world?
These old wise eyes know when something is wrong,
Even when my indifferent brain doesn't.
It's their way of letting me know
You took something from me,
something you were not allowed to take.
You walk around like it was nothing,
when it was everything.
Your carefree persona provokes me,
you gave me nothing not to care about.

All you gave me was fear, anxiety, worries and doubts.
All you did was make me lose my trust.
All you were was just a demon,
a demon disguising yourself as an angel,
to get what you needed.

you didn't care the outlook,
you didn't feel my pain,
you just felt your urge,
your urge to release your *****.

You lied to me in my most vulnerable state,
to get what you wanted and not what I wanted,
when I suddenly said no,
you took it anyway,
because demons don't listen,
demons don't care,
for demons ''no'' doesn't count,
demons call the shots.

I hope you're happy,
because I am not.
If you want to make a killing;
invest in war.
Seems to work,
for Blair, Bush et al.
Those that follow
the hunger of their self aggrandised,
destiny's lore.
So, roll out the blood red carpet,
leading to the future's hungry jaw.
