They reside on the other side of the city
They bathe in the quiet and still fertility
They own yard-keepers and docile servants
Dogs, cats, hyenas and precious plants.

They breathe the camphorated air like us
Swallow the transparent and abominable dust
Cross over and fall in the muddy rivers like saints
Like our siblings living under the tiny tents.

They reside on the other side of the old towns
Over the mountains, not too far from the plains
They bathe in tranquil fertility
Of the country-side, not too far from the city.

They ignore that we are the same, the same formulas
And that we live and endure daily the same dilemmas
And one day, them and us, all of us will answer
Present in the river, under the bridge of forever.

Let's not be afraid to make a stand
Against hate and bigotry on this land
Let's stop the hypocrites cold
Now. Let's repudiate their old
Ideas and their archaic and spurious values
Let's unmask them and expose their views
Sectarianism may be a fancy or ostentatious word
To talk about racism. But it is the same sharp sword
Which can decapitate and destroy good people
Bigotry is bad. May you be white, black or purple
Let's be against white prejudice
Let's be against black prejudice
Let's be against ignorance and intolerance
Let's vote for love, intelligence and common sense
Say NO, loud and clear to bigotry
Vote NO, against racism and hate
Vote for love, equality, and liberty
Expose and vote against the candidate
Who despises the Muslims, the Mexicans
The Syrians and the wounded Veterans
They are all our brothers and sisters
Who are suffering under strange situation
Let's vote against the bigots and the haters
Let's say NO to racism, and take action
At the voting booth. Let's vote for UNITY
And togetherness. Together: we are strong
Divided: we are weak, stupid and wrong
Let's find no excuses, let's defeat the followers
Of ******, Mussolini, the Third *****, the haters
Who are sneaky, deceitful, duplicitous, and shady
We are ONE against the bullies of this country
Let's vote for LOVE, freedom, liberty, and fraternity
Let's vote against sectarianism, hate, and bigotry
Today, tomorrow, and forever
Love is eternal; love is better.

(A 'thought piece' I wrote in high school)

Ok, I'm not paid to think (like the TV shouting heads), I have no real voice (vote), and certainly no credentials - but I'm as invested in America as any high-school citizen can be. I've pledged allegiance 3000 times (hhmm.. do they doubt our loyalty?) and when it comes to loving America, I'd have to say my classmates and I are at the center of the spell.

I'm afraid we're growing up in the age of hate.. the age of phony outrage where each position large or small is high noon and violence is underfoot even when policing ordinary citizens.

We won't address the multitude of old problems in this new age.. we'll just unleash a marquetry of half truths to dispute the proven until unreasoned arguments reach their paranoid fullness.

The real world is alarming enough - lets just push that away and ignore it - while we're at it lets **** shame the poor, the old, the sick, the unemployed, the hungry and the hand of mercy.

I realize America was never one moral atom bonded for better.. but those anvils that forged us appear neglected or forsaken. I'm afraid what's happening now, what we're seeing and hearing now, is a symphony of erosion - that by the time I have any say at all, the middle class will be gone - america turned slum - where even the voice of despair will be turned traitor.

We'll only be able to see our greatness in museum souvenir shops where nothing is affordable and everything is made elsewhere.
This was one of the short essays for my Yale application. I post it now as an election classic 🙃

Say it as it is
But don't make it bad, please!
Sprinkle some pretense
On filthy truths and common sense.

Reality as it is
Let us sugarcoat it, please!
Let us masquerade ourselves,
Pretend we have a chance.

If evil wears your name
And has got the hang of this game
Do I say it as it is
Or catch myself freeze.

I've seen the truth
And I've seen the youth
And I'll be ******
If I don't get to watch your end.

i dont know how,
i am supposed to feel,
i am in love with you,
and i am sure of that,
you broke my heart,
tore it apart,
when all i wanted,
was ur love,
you made me look bad,
to all whom we know,
word got spread,
they all hate me now,
for what reason i ask,
u said,
its not ur fault,
we were young,
although your right,
i am the only one that got hurt in the end,
all this despise,
and all these mistakes,
have filled me up,
with anger,
with agony,
i wanted you to die,
but i couldnt hurt you,
the way you did me,
how the ****,
am i supposed to feel,
i am in love with you,
im hurt by you,
war in my head,
all the time,
confused on how,
i can feel that eway,
but still u said,
its not ur fault,
we were young,
although your right,
i am the only one the got hurt in the end,
all this despise,
and all these mistakes,
have filled me up,
with anger,
with agony,
i wanted you to die,
but i couldnt hurt you,
the way you did me.
i wrote this poem when i was in love with a girl for 5 years,
she was homophobic,
in a homophobic society,
she spread a "rumor" bt me being gay,
and everybody hated me,
when i did was love,
and al i wanted was love,
instead i was a monster in their eyes,
and then she turned out to be gay but she didnt like me lol

"
With the blood flowing in my hand.
I then realize that i have failed to understand.
I look around to see by who was i stabbed?
But then i find that the knife was in her hand.
As the tears are falling i ask why?
I look into her eyes and realize that iam just too high.
I get up from my nightmare shocked and scared.
Just to see that iam still not dead.

Love is like storm
It can fade away slowly or grow to be life altering event

Love is like hope In the darkness
It can be light
It can be safety

But for me love is only a dream

Maybe we can—
but I can’t.
I can’t continue on this path,
I can't destroy myself for you.

I cherished my life,
gave everything I had,
but I know,
it’s not enough.
I understand,
but I can’t do this anymore.

I’ve had enough.
I want to live,
live my own life,
not in your shadows.
I can’t be who you want me to be.

I want to escape.
To breathe,
to be free from all of you.
I can't even breathe here

"Calm down; you’re overthinking it."
No, I’m not.
It’s not me
It’s you.
You’re the ones playing with my mind,
driving me mad.

I’m scared.
Terrified of living like this,
of living with you.
I beg you,
please,
let me go.

Let me go.
Let me go,
and let me live my life

I Am a Sinner
I am a sinner,
My mind is a mess.
Where I find comfort,
I sleep the deepest rest.

I should say,
I am a sinner
For I sleep
While my mother is dying.

I am a sinner,
For I eat,
While my mother is starving
