I thought if I could swallow the stars
I’d be as beautiful as the evening sky
I tried one night    with fireflies
They burned my throat
Their legs striking at soft flesh
But my skin did not glow
No moon crawled from my eye sockets
I was left with corpses in my stomach
I soon learned I would only ever be
A cemetery

I opened my eyes and saw a light;
through childish sight
the light took flight.
“Fireflies!”
cried my sister dear
but I saw fairies
flitting near.
Little wings
delicate and soft
they would break
if I merely coughed.
I closed my eyes
and sprouted wings
a firefly
of the spring.
Listen, listen,
do you hear me sing?
The trees are the chorus
rustling in the wind,
the river adds music
wild and unpinned.
My wings carry me
higher and higher
I feel my soul
burning with fire--
“Sister! Sister!”
blink blink
open my eyes
but I still like to believe
that they’re
not just
fireflies.

Fireflies flicker in the midnight
Casting light like a flashlight
Fluttering around the open fields
Calling out to each other in hope
Their light gleams throughout the night
Making paths across the darkness
For others to follow in the daylight rays
As beautiful as they are
Nothing compares to you
We'll help each other past the dull skies
Shining as brightly
As the fireflies
You
Maybe it's your smile
It takes me places
And I stare for a while

Maybe it's your eyes
All those gazes
They create fireflies

Maybe it's all of you
Every time you leave my side
I  feel so blue

You make me smile
Even if you don't know
Why I stare at you for a while

You make my eyes glow
Even when I can't see yours
You make me wish I was the princess in your chateaux

You make all of me shiver
Just with a small glance
And I wanna be with you forever
Please just give me a chance...

I captured this wispy thing
And it slipped through my fingers
It glowed gold and was gone
Until a silvery streak of light it’s become
With a jar in hand I stalked
To attack, I suppose
I traipsed in the dark
It slipped slowly out of sight
Now my hands are blue
I miss the warmth
But it’s selfish, I know
To lock something away
Just because it’s beautiful
And it takes away the cold.

The days back then were great
With very less fear of fate

The fun was neither in glories
Nor in the gifts we receive
It was in listening to the stories
Which were hard to believe

The Cycle Rides, before the Sunrise
Catching Fireflies, before the night dies

The magic of the rainbow, while it's raining
Holding mom, scared of thunder & lightning

Sleeping on the grass gazing at the moon
Haven't realized how my childhood ended so soon

I saw the constellations in your dreams through a telescope

The navy blue skies that reside in your eyes were painted with nebulas of hope

A figure made of a million stars moved around to the music of your heart

And a dreamy eclipse wearing a ghostly white waited for a new start

With just one glance into your hopes,  I was staring at the sun, the moon and the ethereal skies

It seems I was looking into the windows of the galaxy to escape to a world of glowing fireflies

At first there were two,
two just became a multiplier,
of those red fireflies
dancing to the sick beat
of zooom, broooom and wshhhh.

They flied further as I rolled forward;
left to right and right to left
they wiggled, never overlapping;
just above, below or beside the other
it created beautiful chaos.

Trapped in time of ****** stars,
accelerates as orange turns green.
Yellow trails, red fireflies
sped past through me;
everything became blur.

The pair of red fireflies flew unstoppably, and that was the last thing I saw.
