no matter
how dizzy with love
the smallest creatures
become,

under the right
circumstances
the puppy
will always
attack
the lion,

and win.

A dog shouldn't spend it's life in a cage,
Where even a week can feel like an age.
Sad and alone, not knowing when it will end,
Wishing and hoping for a new human friend.
But thanks to every volunteer's donated time,
And every donators dollar, cent or dime,
A new life is given to each beautiful pooch,
A new family to love, cuddle and smooch.
So thank you to everyone, your kindness is rare,
We thank you so much, for your help and your care.

~ Written for the Oahu SPCA
The Oahu SPCA is the largest animal welfare organization in the state of Hawaii. On July 18, 2009, 432 animals were relinquished to the Oahu SPCA after the owner of an animal sanctuary in Waianae passed away. The Oahu SPCA rescued all 432 animals in 48 hours, which marked the largest animal rescue in the history of Hawaii.
Every day they strive to help, care and re-home beautiful animals; animals that don't ask for anything but a forever family.

I met a dog
that would only
feed off
stories,

we sat-
me, on an old
***-stained chair
with this dog
by my side-

and I told stories,
of new and old;
this ******* dog
was wagging its tail
at the
saddest stories,
things that
should never
even be
told.

it proceeded to
gnaw
violently
at my calf
and occasionally
digging into my thigh,
as if it could smell
that the
most
miserable
misanthropic
stories
fester under my
skin;
stories on
all sorts of
failed
things.

“this ******* dog,
I tell ya,
is a real
sadistic
****”-
I write
with a chunk
of flesh
missing
from my
side.

You were gone too suddenly
For me to be sad
You went in a hurry
And you left
Some of yourself with me

Your hair is still here
Floating lazily
Tangling, twisting, clumping
Golden pillows
Hugging dust bunnies

Strings that twist and tangle
But never unwind
And perhaps they are broken or cut,
But the knots remain,
Proof that there was once a connection

Solar strands steal into cracks
Crevasses now filled with memories shedded
Lost perhaps
But still present
Like the sun on a cloudy day

You’re stuck to my sweaters and socks
Coating me in gold leaf
Twenty-four karat nostalgia
Priceless, hugging closely
A subtle weight on my heart

The house is quiet now
But still warm
Still dusty and grimy
Just as you had left it
Because I don’t vacuum anymore
Shoutout to my dude, Sparky. The best boy I'll ever know.

Red
This morning, I experienced some good luck.
I bought a Chihuahua for one hundred bucks.
My new dog is brown and his name is Red.
He will be my dog for many years ahead.
Like other dogs, he probably loves to gnaw on bones.
Red makes the third Chihuahua dog that I own.

The dog ran down with a bird in it's mouth saying "temp me to bite"

You’re the odd
I’m the lost one
And I’ve been tryin hard to believe
That everything I love won’t leave
But I know thats just a
Mirage in a sand soaked brain
Trying my best to keep you from feeling
This same kind of pain

She’s been spinning circles around me for days

I’ve been sitting by the water
Watching as it pulled away
Drip.
Drip.
Drip.
The sound of a leaky faucet,
What, one may find annoying,
I find calming,
The pitter patter of rain on the roof,
The smell of oatmeal stuff,
The scratching of nails on the floor,
The sound of a sweet old dog snoring,
The sound of a pencil scratching on paper,
When the wind hits the house just right   to make a calm wheezing whistle sound,
The creaking of old stairs,
Soft music echoing down the hall,
Drip,
Drip,
Drip,
Of a leaky faucet...
memory of my childhood.
