Every day is new and yesterday has already gone
Upon awakening, rubbing the slumber from my eyes
I pause to reflect of the day ahead
To dream of the courage to see hope and not despair.

Countless hours wasted on thinking of what used to be
No longer living my in fear of things to come
But instead embracing all that could be and faith in God.
Trusting and relying on someone we can't see, to shelter me from the storm.

Breathing in the beauty of the sunrise and the love that surrounds us all
breaking free of every lie spoken, continually aware to avoid self-will
Finally understanding that helping others strengthens our heart and renews our mind.
Everyone has a stumbling block to challenge us to be better than yesterday.

With our feet standing firmly on the ground...
We take our head from the clouds to seek everything good and true
While the past is still a memory, we can use our experience, strength and hope
Finally, a reason to let go of the pain we have stored up from the past.

As our eyes grow heavy and the day comes to an end
We can stay in the present, with a vision of what joy tomorrow will bring
Lying in the safety of our beds, always a prayer to give thanks
We slumber again, continually repeating the cycle of underserved blessings.
After reading, pls provide specific feedback.....  I thank you for taking the time to help support a fellow poet:)

the girl
In the back of the room
the girl
That never raises her hand

the one
Who's afraid of sounding stupid
the one
Who's scared to get hurt

the person
That everybody judges
the person
That isn't good enough

that person
Was me
Before I found my voice

Life is tough
You can be crushed in just a puff
That is why I learned how to be stong enough.

People tried to bring me down
They laughed at me like I'm a clown
But I showed them how I could still win the crown.

They showed me darkness so I could lose my hope
Distracted me so I will not be able to cope
But I fought to see the light instead of sitting down to mope.

Insults and curses are what they gave me
But I turned those into motivations to see
A better future that awaits me.

Had almost died due to many illnesses and felt like everyday I'm getting weaker
Doctors told me I could not any longer
But I survived coz I am a fighter.

Had been through hardships and pain
But I did not just cry in vain
It is courage and strength that I managed to gain.

Instead of seeing things negatively,
I have dealt it and countinuously dealing with it positively
That is why I can live happily.

I believe that God is always there for me
Even from my deepest and darkest misery
He never fails to help and save me
Yes, I had been through a lot. But I was able to manage it well and get through it, and of course with the help of God.
I shared this because I thought that maybe someone who almost lost his/her hope might be able to read this and would eventually be able to be inspired.

Don't easily give up! Have faith! Be brave! Believe that you can and believe that God is always there for you. :)

In the wee hours of the morning
If a man awakes the sleeping tigress within
He better be ready to calm its wicked, wicked ways

A woman isn’t complete without the
Amen, hallelujah, thank be to glory moments
As she reach the maximum of her
amazing, mind- and body-blowing experience.
I challenge you… Have I lost my self-respect?

I am god the devil born of strife
living this hell that we call life
a tormented servant a leader of man
an empty shell no salvation at hand
You reached out but I forgot to say hello
I died but you forgot to say goodbye

Today is the day I will make up my mind,
Or maybe tomorrow,
Next week is fine.

Today is the day I will make up my mind,
Yesterday’s sorrow,
I’ll put it behind.

Today is the day I will make up my mind,
Courage I borrow,
I’ll try not to pine.

Today is the day I will make up my mind,

Up Life’s mountain I'll begin to climb.

Challenges punctuate our lives with question marks.

We ask ourselves, “How long?” So we dream.
We wonder about each other. So we believe.
We concern ourselves with each other’s welfare. So we pray.

We doubt our wisdom. So we trust our hearts.
We second guess ourselves. So we act in faith.
We question our tomorrow. So we cherish the present.

We fear the question marks that have punctuated our lives.
So we build walls;
Walls to hide from our fear, walls to hide from our frustration,
And walls to hide from our feelings.
Let us never build walls that would cut us off from the world,
Or from each other.

Within the circle of our fellow strugglers,
Our thoughts are punctuated with fewer question marks,
And from time to time - a simple period.
Here with each other, it's not as difficult to wait for the answer.
And the walls don't seem as challenging to climb.

Whatever our question,
We can dare each other to dream.
And in this time of testing, we can hope for the answer,
An answer that will be different for every one of us.
An answer that punctuates each of our lives
With an exclamation point!

I took the original A Punctuated Life and rewrote it after a friend, Susan, found that the first two verses resonated with her and shared those verses with our Vocational Rehabilitation group. This is for all those who struggle with disabilities and are seeking a way to be productive in the work force.

You are a sailor
Drift way from the harbor
Pull up the anchor
That binds you down
Set sail towards the horizon
Take off the blindfold
And hoist the sail
Let the wind be your guide
Sun and the Moon your compass
Steering through uncharted waters
Sometimes calm weather
Or, inclement weather, rocking your ship
Tackling the deep waters with alacrity
Unfathomable depths, yet the ship sails
Cutting through the waters
The saline water, which is a part of you
Seagulls guide you towards the shore
Anchoring at the preferred destination
Every grain of sand cushions your feet
Welcoming you to the island of bliss
Cut off from the mainland
Yet, helping you connect with yourself
Now it’s time to unwind
And join the party after a successful voyage
Ready to set sail for another expedition
As a sailor, cruise till the end
