I don't have any emotions anymore
Sometimes, I don’t know if I’m having a feeling
Or I am dreaming, while I am awake?

Some might think that my mind
is exploring my emotions
while looking for happiness,

So I decided to bake a melodrama cake
Nope! I meant mel-o-cream butter pound cake
The ingredient is my path to getting my feelings back
Egg, butter, flour, sugar, raisins,
baking powder and a little milk
I just want to transfer my feeling,
with some logical thinking..

Somewhere, deep within a non stanzaic,
and syllabic poem forms by the minute
It’s going to trend like this cake,
which is going to be bake with love

Poetry is everywhere,
creaming my butter and sugar is poetic
because butter and sugar never stick together. It also
reminds me of Nana’s golden brown patties, tasty and spicy
Adding the eggs, nutmeg, baking powder, brings out the
natural female traits in this Island girl,
without my empowering dreads

The raisins and the baking powder remind me of
The Rise of Radical African American Activism,
And all that rises, rise in due degree
so poetry is everywhere
it's  in everything we say and do.

Why must the tortured
ice their darkened, bitter cakes
with pretty frosting?

Now and Then
It's the taste of cake
And the smell of wet soil
Now and then it changes
To insatiable hunger
And the smell of death
It's a cocktail
Of fairytales and nightmares
In my head
It's love and peace
Chaos and loss
Now and then
It's a little bit of heaven
And a little bit of hell
Now and then
It's you
And then
Your demons

Government says
There's biscuits in your cupboard
But you can't have them
There's oven chips in your fridge
But you're not allowed those
There's a pie in your oven
But you shouldn't have that either
But here's an apple, they say
I'm allergic to apples
Here's a banana
Allergic to those, too
But you like blueberries
Yes.  I love blueberries
And you like Papaya
Yes
And Mango
Yes, I love all of those things
Then why don't you have one
I will
When?
When I've won the lottery
Why can't you eat them now
Because...Em.

City of cake
built on tears
beyond the bridge
to my fears.
Deep.

In amongst this bittersweet gathering
You both slice me looks, quickly
As I savour my cake

Under the easy chatter & voices
Comes a growl from behind your teeth
The dog chases the kids, comically

I sip my tea, smiling & laughing
Your jealousy pours as thick as cream & just as sour
White, one sugar please

I get her a drink at the table
Your hatred boils at my proximity
I mix with a steady hand, oblivious

I forget you're both there in this garden
You make your excuse to leave, defeated
My unbreakable peace doesn't falter now
I pick the crumbs from my plate & lick them from my fingers

Being skinny is really hard.
Starving yourself is not so smart.
I keep trying and trying to lose that weight.
But end up eating chocolate cake.
I say "just one bite!"
Two
"Three or four isn't bad for you..."
Five, six
"Just give me a slice."
Double it up
"It taste really nice!"
So me!...

Morning to me is watching the boy eat
while I impatiently tap my book
with a pencil.

Singing,
"Excess ain't rebellion
Your drinkin' what they're sellin'..."
while he painstakingly tries
to play air guitar and grab strawberries
at the same time.

My favorite time of day
is when it's too early to lie to myself
in small ways,
or even in positive ways.

Makes the dew damper felt,
though the coffee more disgusting,
sunlight brighter,
though shadows darker,
secrets less loud,
though truth remains quiet and tired

I'm very much in love with you. I always have been, I always will be. I don't really know why, you're just the one for me.
I guess that's a lie, because I could probably explain why.
Because I like the way I feel so light around you.
You always make me happy and worry free. You're good for me.
without you. I'd drink too much and never do my hw. You're good for me. You keep me pretty. I like the way you are so determined to be awesome and successful. I like the way you put your arm around me in the morning. I like the way you stay by my side even when I'm conflicting. I could hang out with you forever and I wouldnt even notice time passing by. I like cooking for you because you're always so sweet even when my food is not. I like that you like me,
Not to mention, you're pretty lovey.

I have clandestine thoughts that were
But an itch needing to be scratched.

I had impulses that like A puppet
Were controlling these incessant urges.

Seduction of the moment willed its way,
I must  now follow thoughts gone astray.
This can be taken many ways, it is the imagination of the reader to decide what this may be about.
