I can’t breathe
My body is tense and trembling
Tears rolling down my face
Which I cover with my hands
I can’t open my eyes
My head is racing
I can’t think
Just hold me
Wrap your arms around me
Pull me in close
You know you don’t need to say anything
I just need you
Make me feel safe again
Just let me be in your embrace
Until my heartbeat slows
The tears cease
And once again
I can breathe

Angry as ghost
locked behind light fixture
Only brain stem reminds her to breath
Gutter mouth.
A decade of nicotine shows
With each open mouth exhale
Yellow.
Her lights flicker
Off.
On.
Off.
Clawing desperately
At trails of used up lovers
She is pounding on plexiglass
hear her howl when the wind kicks up
Cracking body hard
against willows and firs
kicking tirelessly at Midwest dirt.
Reason wanes
Tangled in blunder
Still,
She is not lost lovers
Reminding her to breath.

The way you smell,
I’ll breathe you in,
that spot, just behind your ear,
where hairline meets skin.
You fill me with a fire,
That warms me from within.
I love the way you touch me gently.
Oh! But the way you throw me down!
Washing over me like the ocean,
and im so willing to drown!
I’m drawn in by your energy,
I can feel it pulling me close.
Like magnet to metal
like a moth to a flame
That magic I feel deep inside,
when I hear you say my name!

Smile at me
Say my name
Gently lay your hands
On my hips
Look deep into my eyes
Smile again
Like I’m all you
Ever wanted
Then pull me close to
Your chest
So I can feel your
Warmth
Breath
Heart
And just stay
Stay like this with me
Until my head stops spinning
My thoughts slow down
Until it’s just us
Please, just
Stay.
To the man crazy enough to love me... if you’re out there...?

Those spaces
between each line
form the places
where I lose
my
breath
writing about
you
c Mar 2019
I saw you watching me
From across the room
So I took a deep breath
And smiled at someone new

Sometimes it takes
Hearing your breath
Go
         in
And
                  o u t
To know that you’ll be okay
