So aged he is, but still so zealous for his job.
It feels like he has only known his rickshaw.
The ancient bard in him tells Punjabi poems.
He belies his wrinkles as he pedals his ride.
Just putting to shame his fellow rickshaw pullers.
None remembers or even cares to know his name.
He just pedals and remembers his deceased wife.

He told me a Punjabi tale of partition...

"We were really happy when it happened,
I was 16 and married to my beautiful wife,
But then he pressed for a separate Pakistan,
Just so much wicked was this demand of his,
Punjab was alight due to some people's doing,
We were to cross river Ravi en route to Amritsar,
In Lahore my childhood home was burnt to ashes,
My beautiful wife was still so young at that time,
She was ***** on the banks of river Ravi & killed,
In no cloth was she draped as they burnt her body,
After pouring whiskey all over her lifeless body."

His voice broke and a stream of tears escaped,
Down his eyes they flowed like the river Ravi,
"In front of my two eyes the men had ***** her,
Her mistake? Looking at them once & smiling,
Sin as great to be punished by such brutal drab?
What God, Ishwar or Allah did they follow?
I have known all & none advocates ****,
To which parents could they born?
Must be the devil & the witch."

By now his nose was red and his sobs audible.
He said, "She was not just *****, she was also killed,"
The ancient rickshaw puller gasped for breath as he said,
"Would the high heavens thank them for killing my wife,
She was a Hindu and an idolater with my mangalsootra,
Why they spared my life I have no idea but just remorse,
Will their Allah or God spare them on Doomsday?"

==============
And Google knows who pressed for a separate Pakistan in the name of communal majority.

Stars above glisten bright.
With each star, a child born,
As it was on my sacred night.

I am a child of the Supreme Being Above.
Representing royalty, as each of us do.

We all start off this way;
Pure, innocent, & true.

My story, I share with others alike.
Every fairy-tale, every word, every truth
Each representing a time of life,
Lessons learned of different virtues.

I live, dream & imagine other worlds of my own,
Learn lessons along the way
Finding alternative paths back home.

We search high and low to find ourselves
Yet the answer always lies within.

If we'd only follow our hearts all along,
We'd always start right back where we begin.

Life's about recognizing the adventure in our own lives.
Following our hearts.
Living our own dreams.
Creating our own magic.

It's things like that, we need to remember.
Things like that, we need to pass on.

Teach our children, remind our elders.
Spread the love, bring peace to man.

Magic is real. It starts with you.
Find yourself however you may.

Allow your whole being to come together as one.
Let yourself show through in words.

Simple writing.
An ancient dialect.
Wise words from my Muse

each schoolboy used to know the saw
laid deep in tracts of Danish lore

Forkbeards pious son and heir
Cnut the great, konungr,

his throne set to the boiling awe
somewhere along a Hampshire shore

but was it somewhat further north
he faced down scorned Ægir’s bore

his person kissed by Trisantona
upon her banks at Gainsborough

I like to
  kiss your
    liquid
      lovers
        lips
                                   dissolving sugar sweet majesty
                                                                                               your highness
        kneeling to the
      queen of
    centuries

I live in first quarter of the moon
  mixing tapes
   to match
                                                                           the rhythms of the maiden
        with the
                                                                                 melodies of the mother

I will love you in secret

Of it, the state must not know                      Out, the fire must not blow

do
  not
    let
      them
        burn
          me
            alive

            I promise
          to keep
        my commitments
      cataloged and
    separate my
   chastity in one drawer
  my sensuality in
another

                                                                                                    I can be both

                                                                  I can be both

I can live on as an empire

and exist as the city in ruin

I will bear the sword and
  wear the heavy paws
in the belly of the Colosseum
I will sit on the balcony
                                                                                  bored and eating grapes
                                                                                                         calling out
"Execution!"

The cryptic missive
Written in ink ancient
Eloquent quill scribbles
Old English vocabulary
Unfamiliar etymology
Unknown writer
Chronicled messages unclear
For whom, none known
Yet to be deciphered
Papyrus survived
And words of yesteryear
On a time travel to future
Wonder, if anyone had read
Back in olden times
Or, was it a prophecy
For the future to unravel
A seer with vision
To foresee the future
Should we be forewarned?
Lest the truth was known
And we are living a lie

Satiated is my soul, awake, alive
I come forward with my eyes alight
This moment here was perfectly timed
With the sunshine reflecting full tonight

I follow the moon, the stars, the sea
Wave upon wave breathes life into me
The balance of far lands and dreams
I was once the wolf who took the leap
A guardian of cosmic mystery

Into waters bright and clear
Such transformation happens here
Now I know the truth, in tears
Gaia loves all starseeds dear

A seed was planted, this I know
For the moon once told me so
In its attempt to fight the sun
But now they are forever one

Let the flow continue now
I heed the call, I hear the sound
Awaken before our light goes out
There is no room for doubt

Drop your worries, release your sighs
From your heart, this special night
I'll race you to the end of time
And howl now, our wilds' cry

Watch our soul spread out, spread wide
Now my sweet one, be alive
One last breath and now we dive
Into the deep, we glide, we rise

Becoming part of an eternal tide
And so she whispered to the sky
A wish so deep, so sweet, so kind
"I will still be yours...
If you will be mine"
There is an ancient tale of how the wolf dove into the sea in order to feed dolphins to the human when they first began their relationship.  As the story goes, they became what we know today as the orcas or "Sea Wolves". I resonate strongly with these two spirit animals and the metaphor of transformation through balance and compassion inspired me so I decided to write a poem about it. I hope you enjoy! Here is a link to the story I had read if you want more details :)

Shoved back
By this thin black veil
Held neatly
By Hades thin fingers
No longer guided by angels
Soft
And sad
The look I give
Can smash their dreams
This eradicating wormhole
These words are yours to sing
As you enter heaven
I feel bitter
Caught between two points
Sharing these embers
For better use
And once more
So at ease
Tired
Angry
Melted away
By your digitized wisdom

Fulfill
And wait for those
Who do not keep friends long
Or drench their cruelty
With the malice
Held tightly behind their teeth
Keep close for now
And the silence may guide you
After all this time
The sea swept away everything else
Ounces of stupor born from a bottle
And the weight thereof
Made gold
By wisdom far away
