Inside I am a
raging inferno

no one sees it

I fool them with
My undercover
Breath

I could be satiated by
this raining madness

Remember me

the woman who
speaks in
fragments of
the moon

showing mercy
with the tongue of
ancient reeds

Water meeting fire
in my throat

Blessed are those
who spend money
on things
we have been dipped
into the holy cash
streams
of money worship
like fallen gods from glory
love disguised in the
sanctimony of commerce
And never buy mediocrity
from middle men
or those claiming they are
the masters of your soul
who will just
empty your pockets
avoid them as if
they are frauds
of the spirit
who may send
you to hell
Tanisha Jackland Nov 2018
"The spirit of emptiness is immortal.
It is called the Great Mother
because it gives birth to Heaven and Earth.
It is like a vapour, barely seen but always present.
Use it effortlessly. " -Tao Te Ching Ch. 6

We are the manifestations
of our mothers.
We all were born
from Her.
She laid down for us.
And gave Her body for us.
The ultimate sacrifice was Hers.
She would have died for us.
to be born fresh and anew.
We exist because of Her.
May She be exalted
and deeply revered forever.
I love you, mama.

I am making my way

thru humanity for the last time

seeing shadow exists before me

knowing I hold the truth within

what they don't see is what they assume

all the petty small minds say

there is no heart of gold

to be found in black bodies

that we lynch and burn

out of Africa, they have claimed

our skin the radients of mocha

night screams sin

and they will continue to say,

we are better than them

I am better than no one but my self

to be sure this heart is genuine

coming from a long

line of fine peculiar folks

souls as vast as a mountain range

you could fall deep into the

crevice of their never

ending love for everything

who would even wounded

do anything opposed to oppression

untamed roaming wild and free

It's a terrible thing
to know the difference
between right and wrong
then to choose the
apparently vile thing
with all the gander
you could muster
over and over again
rolling with the devil
like he's on your side
forever clinging to him
as if you made him
though ultimately
He is not for sale
but you are...
Tanisha Jackland Oct 2016
I wrote you a love letter

It was all dolled up

Pretty words to
make you fall in love

Some parts dangled
With the charm of
golden bling

Then another part
you could smell
the lather of my skin

But I didn't stop there

I conjured up cupid

Then wrote your name
in blood and burnt it

Placed the ashes in a honey jar
with lavender and rose

Whispered your name 69 times
under a blue red moon

Now
I watch you in my crystal ball
and wait for you to come to me

You are sitting there
a split pea
rolling straight off the counter
like all the other
little diametrical peas
with no mind power
and no gumption
other than flying straight
into the dogs mouth
No denying
You will get eaten someday
Like me
but I'm going to be the
one that made it
to the soup.

They are spying on us
from the black ether
eyes good enough to
spot you from over there
to over here and beyond
What do they see behind
this thick veil of flesh
are they soul searching us
or are they just curious enough
with all that money to find
nothing but me and you
loving each other...
Most of us are just living our lives.
Tanisha Jackland Dec 2015
I have been born
over and over
many times ago.

In familiar pieces.
In different suits.

The new blood
rushing to my head.

I end up delivered
tangled in my own
fancy knots.

Waiting for someone
like you to unbind me
yet again.

Our connection
is ancient
Her nature being
fluid and female
"Be gentle"
She says as still
as stone
She gathers the ripples
from her slow movement
encouraging me
to speak my truth
with intention
and soft conviction
"Ask and you shall receive"

She tells us many things
the spirit of water
but we are too
loud to listen
speak to her softly
protect her
She is the life force
that will heal us
before it is too late
May we protect water everywhere.
Tanisha Jackland Jan 2017
Think of how modest I am
Then multiply it by my halo.
I wilt in the presence of me.

David and Goliath
all rolled up into a girl
with big ***** and a head
to match.

I am neither here nor there
but right now I am at
the center of your universe.

And you cannot deny
the humility
I have under this flesh
sizzling red hot as Jezebel.

My bite is sharp unlike the heart
That runs underneath.
I could cut you like a nun
Or pray for you like a ninja.

I am a straight line into
an ingenious plot.
And if you try to save me
I will chop you down.

Go to the Sea
and lumber in its air
until you feel
the iridescent breeze
will lead you to Her
Sea woman
ocean gypsy
with the night painted
on Her skin
She has shiny stars in
unkempt hair
find Her
remind Her
to walk like us
under the moon...
Tanisha Jackland Dec 2015
I reach
into you
searching for
something familiar

We have forgotten
we were
once inseparable

All of us
collectively
singular
rising out of
the great expanse

We’ll live again
like the stars
born again
on the
horizon
We are stardust.
Tanisha Jackland Dec 2017
You walk
upon this Earth
like an
opened wound
all soured smiles and
doughy nosed

But one day you
will learn to lick your
own wounds
then heal
unhurried by
the sullen hours
of
slowly melting
the days
into alchemy

flesh for scales

fish-tailed
and finally free...
Mermaids exist whether you want to believe or not.
Tanisha Jackland Jan 2018
You lie to me
like your word
depended on it
or is it worth
your word to me
do you value
what you speak
or do you speak with
a second tongue
deepening the divide
between us
man and woman
the battle amongst us
not knowing the real
value
of a woman

Just the lies
that linger
on you and your
traitorous tongue
Men and lying seems second nature
Tanisha Jackland Feb 2020
I was knee deep

in the ferns today

searching for wandering jews

and spider plants

like my life depended on them

they are beings with

super powers

I believe in them

like I believe in the moon

silent friends

to heal the world...
Tanisha Jackland Jul 2020
Flowers
are God's way of
saying that She
is all things
distinct and funky
we need them
to understand
the ambiguity of life
as wild as they are
boundless
and eager to please
They have the courage to
rise up from concrete
to exist
experiencing Herself
and to explore
the endless wanton ways
Inspired by Gloria O'Keeffe's painting Black Iris

Don't believe what they tell you
Think for yourself like you have come
here to save you.
Sage Woman
Tanisha Jackland Dec 2015
I kissed you there
firm and wet.
You swelled in
the midnight hour.
And you swore I stopped time
with long crafted licks,
whispers upon your skin.
As I watched a million
peeks rise from your flesh,
I knew I found your secret spot.
Just a tad bit of naughty for you.
Tanisha Jackland Oct 2017
You say
you want
to walk the way
but never be moved
and I say
you are already
the way walking
stumbling over your
two humble yet divine feet

It is you
who will travel
this world unknowing
and it is you who
will manifest the sacred things
for each gesture there
are those of us waiting
for the next coming

You exist inspite
of the vacuum
But do not wait

You must Be
for
you are the abyss
forming itself
over and over again
fractals of light in the many
facets of eternity
Tanisha Jackland Dec 2015
You hide the Sun from me.
With your cool effervescent hues.
Like night whispers over fevered skin.
You mend me.
Shade is underrated.
Tanisha Jackland Jul 2019
She Comes.

By way of storm.

the waters winding
in a fury of death.

And She. is painting
the sky

Black.

For now.
You have been warned take heed everybody...reduce your carbon footprint as much as you can.
Tanisha Jackland Jan 2021
She is fire-breathing
and does not get burnt
by Her own breath

She waits to see you
consumed by that
for you will be the ash
and She will be the
wind to blow you away
to the merciless end
of you and your bigotry

She will devour them
who are unjust
She will meet them
by the stake of their hate
separating divinity
from the Gods
fragments of fire
particles in the Sun
dust in the air
Tanisha Jackland Oct 2016
You cannot disturb
what is already
making quite a raucous

In between the
gun shots and chatter
is this inaudible void
that feeds itself
when no one is looking

To hear it is like
hearing God
A frequency at which
we are frantically
trying to get away from

To be entertained
and extracted
from the sacredness of
what is subtle

We are a bad
loud bunch
just learning how
to be silent
learning how to
be God.
Tanisha Jackland Nov 2017
Who's to say
that I am extreme
I hide my quirks
in awkward smiles
and inconvenient
small talk
I am a black girl
interrupted which means
I am quite possibly magickal
but invisible to most and really
seen by very few
I guess like all of us
dying to be remembered
dying to become immortal...
Tanisha Jackland Dec 2017
Love is awkward
Makes you do unmindful things
like staying up past restful hours
mind racing of kisses from no one
imaginary lover dancing in your head
nothing but the wait for a
seemingly simple
phone call
pick up the phone and melt into me
you have all the time in
the world to wait for him
or to browse her pictures and texts
we will never learn from the calm or logical
just hopes from longing
suffering love in the recesses of the dark...
Love take notes.
Tanisha Jackland Dec 2015
I am taking sweet sips of you
Stalking your infinite breath
Always leading me back to those eyes
watertight and obvious
You were the one who saw thru it

My superman but
I am the heroine
You’ve bled from the
marrow into the split lip

I am nothing without these fists
You drove into me
as if you were stone and
I sunk into you like rain
Tanisha Jackland Dec 2018
When your intentions are clear

the Universe will unfold before you

A bountiful table with more than you'll ever need.
The universe is so inclusive that you are invited, too.
Tanisha Jackland Oct 2017
I write better than I speak
and comprehend
much more than I read

We are all unwilling psychics
reading each others minds
like skimming thru half read lines
of a familiar novel as if we know somebody

Do I bore you with my simplicity
or do I bore into you...
on a mission
Tanisha Jackland Apr 2023
She reminds me
Soul has no color
it emanates from the sum
of life
as a vibrant symphony
of you

Those sole regrets
and moments revealing
themselves as
the bone truth

We are organized
of sound
and gravity

pulling us closer to
the source of divinity
we sometimes
forget
Tanisha Jackland Mar 2018
I have ate them
My ancestors
Unlike the
slave girl who
died tragically
I am so sorry
for that
from the deep cuts of
their white reigned whips
still a slave girl but
sitting on
The wrong side
She think she is cunning
She think she is the only one
Poor girl
Can’t read
Past their big
empty minds
But she is grown enough
And soon all of them
that have died will have
thickened her into a mighty
Meat soup
Healing old wounds...
Tanisha Jackland Apr 2016
i am the body depth-
come fathom me
and explore me
with your fluid hips-
like there is more than
blood between us-
but in the certain miles
i am drunk on you
and
i have almost forgotten
the way that you
sing me into
your perfect pitch...
mermen sing, too.
Tanisha Jackland Dec 2015
You were wrong again, mistress.
How many times the delusion
Oh, Queen of the Universe.

With your forgotten
bag of stars
left somewhere
on the train to Utah.

They'll never know
you lived on Venus and
loved for eternities.

But now here you are
feigning mortal on
a big blue ball.

Rolling your eyes at
white bread and to a man
called Jesus.
Tanisha Jackland Oct 2019
Death waits.
But, first develops
a rapport
with you.
letting you
believe in
immortal fancies.
entertaining the idea of
living again. in the flesh.
Alas,
Death can stand no more
of your duplicity. of
your undying hypocrisy.
Then, lights out.
No life, for you.
Tanisha Jackland Jan 2018
It is good to have
open ears
how else would you
hear the sound of
your Beloved
the one that
moves silently
thru all things
live gently and
walk like your feet are
your wings
According to Rumi, "the beloved" is God, your very best friend in the world.
Tanisha Jackland Feb 2018
It is good to have
open ears
how else would you
hear the sound of
your God or the Beloved
the one that
moves silently
thru all things
live gently and
walk like your feet are

A young lady with synesthesia disorder (in this case, for her, sounds have color and texture) once told me that my voice sounds like "snowflakes on the tongue". Here's a short poem I wrote about it.
Tanisha Jackland Oct 2020
You are
always flying away
And there you go again
rendezvous with the wind
I try to anchor you
with my kisses
but they are not heavy enough
to weigh you down
flighty fool
those golden shiny
things won't
bring you peace of mind
but convene with me
then you shall know
what your precious
time is really
meant for...
Tanisha Jackland Oct 2016
I will feed you warm
bowls of soft words
until your soul bones
have been nourished
so that you may walk
on moonbeams
and talk with God.

Then I will tuck you
into the sunset
so that you may rise again
with the sky

Sorry, I am so
generic these days
I am not like you living
past your means
like some great fallen
mythical bird of fire

Excuse me while
I wade in mediocrity
but sometimes
just sometimes I get the
audacity to fly
Tanisha Jackland Dec 2018
It must be
a meditation.
your life.
a very deep reflection.
a dark mirror that
shines your deeds.
Some mortals have it that
you would crumble
under such scrutiny.
But reaching for light
would sustain you.
So it must be when
you speak your truth
stand firm and take root.
always be true
Tanisha Jackland Dec 2017
There is more to life than this
and it reveals itself
beyond this mortal veil
time and time again
Past the lies and the bubblegum crush
I am not here to save you
but there is something
waiting in the midst
"Three things cannot be long hidden: the sun, the moon, and the truth."-Buddha

they tightened the noose and yet
she came immaculate out of nothing
Bearing the fruit of prophecy
from her womb

they fired the stake and yet
she came driving spells
from ambrosia
cursing the heinous lots

They ****** her body and yet
She came resurrected from the darkness
and the spirit of the saints

She is black as a boot
Came martyred and gone forever
Amongst the plume of fools
Flying toward the ends of night
Tanisha Jackland Sep 2016
It lasted forever

the moment when
you felt his
whisper
the innuendo of
long ago moons

His eyes
seeking
to taste
you where the
dark lingers

He inhaled every
scented note of you
kept you open and
fingered you
like a song
Tanisha Jackland Jan 2017
You are glory
dressed in
profane skin
One day
you will
know that beauty
hides in shallow places
like the lie that is your face

But in time we beget
to mull over this
The shallow land
how it displaces us
and makes us
lame

There is no palate left
for the muted
with their whimsy hearts
and lofty wings...
Those unseen things
That dream in flesh
and stalk your breath
for bated air
Tanisha Jackland May 2017
Distill me
from this
broken body
until you've
captured the
unholy parts
of me

For i will be
the meat
for plants
one day...
And
soul bound
Tanisha Jackland Apr 2016
i know you want to live as long as the wind
To be captured by its kiss upon your breath
dying to become bloodless

but how long can you touch the sky
without flying
or
See the song without hearing

Your sullen lips are so sweet
they're good enough to steal
Tanisha Jackland Aug 2019
if i could speak to you
like a cello does
it would move something
inside you
to slowly split open
and become the notes.
Speak cello spread love
Tanisha Jackland May 2019
Dreams are silvery thoughts
that sometimes glisten like gold...
Tanisha Jackland Feb 2018
Drink me in
until I swirl
upon your tongue

then slide satin-deep
down your throat
to the top of your toes
and back up again

let me be
the underbelly
you take in
like a cup

then let us
ascend spinning
into an eternal
Sun*

Your lover heart makes the dying star rebirth again

No.
It is not good to use your
powers for evil.

It is much better to warn them
of their demise.
Reminding them
that flesh is an easy target.

we all wear.

but the Spirit is still.

and sometimes
exists without consequence
being that

You.
Always know your intentions.

But remember.
the Universe has the ultimate
Say

No.
Do not speak with a second tongue.

You could end up believing your crafty
little hell. then forget about alchemy.

Instead be brave and
Go
alone.

Say no to anything that does not resonate with
your being.

Then walk away very slowly with
absolute
clarity.
Be you.
