An illness overtook the land,
Mysterious and vague.
Villagers joined, hand in hand,
In what was known as the Dancing Plague.

They skipped beside the street,
To music silent in their ears.
And they tapped their cursed feet,
To music nobody else could hear.

They danced for days, and could have years,
The plague continuing to spread.
And they danced so long, my dear,
Oh, they danced 'til they dropped dead.

Singing sweetly in the snow.
Drifting down, humming soft and low.
Staying silent so they don't hear,
All your worry, all your fear.

Hugging quietly in the cold.
Breeze blowing soft, doing what it's told.
Making no sound so they don't hear,
Your thumping heartbeat, beating fear.

White surroundings, nothing clear.
Frozen fingers, frozen ears.
Frozen heartache, frozen tears.
Staying silent, so they don't hear.

Your last breath, still full of fear...

Happy birthday, my dear.
I'd give you the world if I could.
I'd place it in your little hands, the world small and grand,
But you'd drop it, I know you would.

I wish you a happy birthday, my dear.
I'd hold you in my arms if I could.
I'd hug you tight, tell you everything's alright,
But lying to a child is no good.

In my fantasy, I'm the most beautiful girl in the world.
In my fantasy, I'm precious like a pearl.
In my fantasy, I'm lovely and I'm sure.
In my fantasy, only in my fantasy.

Queen of a world that no one can find.
Queen of a world that is all mine.
Ruler of a nation where they're all on my side,
Queen of a world that's all in my mind.

Silence is the sound of thinking.
Lonely thoughts, slowly sinking.
Darkness drowning the haze of outside.
Silence clouding the girl who wants to hide.

Out my window I see a sky
Blue, with no clouds and a sun shining bright
Out my window I see a tree
Green, with leaves that sway with the breeze
Out my window I see mountains high
Grey, and snow topped with birds flying by
Out my window I see the whole world
And I feel, for a moment, like a small little girl
As I stare out my window, this is what I see: the entire world staring back at me.
