If I could, I would capture you in my eyes and turn blind out of the fear of losing you
but then there is this thought
that opens my eyes.

If I could, I would cuddle you all day and all night till eternity
but then there is this thought
and I refrain from touching you..

When you smile
I simply want to freeze the time
but then there is this thought
that takes away the time from my clutches.

I want to spend countless sleepless nights
by just wondering about you
but then there is this one thought
that envelopes me with slumber of despair.

I want to write a lot,
express tons of feelings
but then there is this thought
and I feel helpless.

  "Kyon *** main tera raahi,
Jab tu hai kisi aur ki manzil"
I was amazed
By different countries
And their different states

I'd hop on a plane
Hitch a car or ride a bike
To be on a different land

I'd see architecture
that took my breath away
Made me hungry for more

I have tasted food
Different from my own
By different cooks

I would take photos
So whenever I am away
The memories won't be lost
My take as a traveller, the world is beautiful

She was a long lost traveller
with broken silence;
an unknown passenger
to darkness and defiance.

Time unfavorably moved slowly,
as if the oceans stopped moving
and life became ghostly
to each and every choosing.

Darkness became an everlasting hunger,
whose enmity was filled with surprise;
For she was left with wonder
of trembling unending surmise.

The love that was once known
became still and uncaring;
She was entirely alone
in this vast and empty home.

Defiance shook with trembling roars
as she made mistakes repetitively
and endlessly with her core,
a tiring soul left unwillingly.

She was a long lost traveller
who escaped treacherous ending
to find the world spectacular
and life itself worth spending.

He carefully watches what food he's chosen to eat
avoiding those things his standards don't really meet;
he doesn't eat any meat, fish, eggs or other seafood
as they represent nourishment from a killing mood.
Yes, he's a strict vegetarian and a borderline vegan
with convictions that seem to go beyond all reason.
He also doesn't drink any type of animal derived milk;
as it isn't considered fit for consumption by human ilk.
He usually only has at the most just two meals a day
often getting by with only one for both work and play.
He conserves energy by the discipline of body and mind
and is a lot better off for it than all of those ordinary kind.

The ideals that he lives by are above the mundane breed
unwilling to compromise them with those below his creed.
Knowing from past experience the vagaries of the mind and heart
being confirmed on a daily basis by all the reported news in part.
Too much casual association with ordinary people he tries to avoid
and would rather go seek those whom he has previously enjoyed.
He also doesn't drink, smoke, gamble or indulge in sensual pleasures
as those activities aren't conducive to sustaining heavenly treasures.
Maintaining thereby a clean heart, mind and body living in the world
because they're the main objectives by which human life has unfurled.

He tries not to hurt any fellow creature by either thought, speech or action
and extends a good will to all with or without their returning satisfaction.
With silence, solitude, study and meditation he practices a daily routine;
seeing into the darkness of closed eyes what few others have ever seen.
All the mainstream religions he acknowledges and respects but doesn't really follow
regarding them as stepping stones by which a better life is had if one's own is hollow.
What he does believe in is in fact the One Eternal Truth which is common to all
of an Infinite Supreme Being and Existence that underlies and supports them all.
The very nature of life he comprehends and perceives as a long or short journey
all creatures have to make with their own vehicle of a body that is evolutionary
while they find their way back home to that source of all being and existence
within the creation of this world in which they all do struggle for subsistence.

He considers that there are five main stages of life in all the universe and creation
regarding them to be formation, evolution, reincarnation, involution and realisation
that every soul creature has to go through as it becomes more evolved and aware
of the purpose and goal of existence in which it finds itself travelling somewhere.
Though only as a human being this soul creature can complete and realise the goal
having to undergo many tribulations nevertheless on the way in its existential role.
The soul of course is the creature which evolves through an infinity of forms
and is a unit of eternal existence that so underlies and supports all the norms;
starting from the very basic level of life at the primordial stage which is seen
then evolves and develops into a higher form until it becomes a human being.
This unit of eternal existence is the divine spirit or essence of every soul made
and carries with it a true image or status of its own immaculate original grade;
which is why every creature has to sleep and return to some unconscious state
being the very source or image of its original divine nature to there recuperate.

In that state of unconsciousness which is experienced as nothing in sleep
is the place where originally everything has come from and is very deep.
So deep in fact that it's really unfathomable and impossible to comprehend
unless one gains that inner Light of knowledge and love of the Enlightened.
That Light then serves as a supernatural body or beacon to plumb the depth
of one's spirit which is non other than the image of God within the dark kept.
This Light which is also known as “the Blue Pearl” is indeed a blessed sight
and if one can keep on seeing it then there's no more blind darkness of night.

Written in 2017 and inspired somewhat by the appellations given to a contributing poet or writer on another website depending on how much stuff  one has managed to post there, It's also about some of the philosophy which has been the focus of the last 40 years or so of my life.

Long days and exciting nights
Different Experiences always surprise
Contemplating the seashore and the tide
Mesmerizing the sunset till the night.

Meeting different people all over the world
Curiosity  to know about their culture
Perceiving the history of the world
Knowing the value of preserve.

I wish I would have been a nomad,
I would have travelled to the places no one had.
I wish I was a voracious reader,
Books would have helped me to forget her.
If life would not have been such a mystery,
It would have been easy to forget my history.
I wish I was another wanderlust
In a world which seems to forget so fast.
I never wanted to be like me.
I wish I was not me!

The sun glares down
Over lost, weary travellers,
Casting crimson
Over the rolling dunes.
Their shadows
Fall upon the sand;
An ocean of tiny little grains—
Moving,
Always moving
Under the wind,
Like travellers themselves—
Millions of them,
Moving,
Shifting,
Changing,
Constantly inconstant.
The lines atop the dunes—
The divide where light and dark
Separate,
Alter their shape
With the shifts in the sand,
Wriggling like a snake.
This view,
This world
Of rolling dunes,
Stark segregations of light and dark,
Sandy, cutting winds,
Was not made for strangers—
For these poor wanderers.
They wander,
Like tiny ants,
Upon an endless, reddened landscape,
So far from their nest—
Made up of grand structures,
Taller than they are vast,
Crafted carefully,
Brick by brick.
Unshifting,
Unchanging,
Stark and clear against the sky.
Far too compact
To allow room for wandering.
Glass and stone—
A wall against the winds.
A place
Where these strangers weren’t strangers.
It was there—
Right there.
Standing above the dunes,
Reaching out of the sand
Into a pink expanse of clouds.
But no,
These strangers
Remain strangers,
Wandering a world
Of harsh beauty
And wondrous irregularity.
This is a poem I wrote for Rattle's ekphrastic challenge. It involves writing poetry based on a selected image. I think it's really fun, and there are plenty of talented poets here who I think should give it a try.

A thousand shifting dunes
A million mirages
Brazen storms a raging
heavy laden with sand

None a single cloud
In the fiery blaze above
Blinding flames of fire
Pound the miles of sand.

Footprints lost in time
Wiped by moving strands
Was there and is no more
The trace of who tread where

Pushing on with head bent low
Arid winds and sand assault
Unseen yet clearly seen
To reach that patch of green.

Within the nature's viles
An island of paradise
Lush green and flowing blue
Unreal surreal but true

Thousands lost in the dunes
Scorched parched marooned
Few tho of good fortune
The oasis they find a soon

Each day as life's wind rages
Time shifts and moves as dunes
Blaze of regrets beat down
Track wither to go is wiped

Within my daily desert
A patch of life so verdant
Makes the trek more hopeful
The oasis that is you

Green with life so vibrant
Blue and clear your spring
***** breeze your laughter
My Oasis for here and after

The Bougainvillea cares not for the needs of its guests.
It throws its pink shade regardless,
over rock and sand and weary travellers.
‘Twas not a poem but a statement
